Unless the Spurs get a C soon, I think we are now the favorite. :o

Good deal for them.

Hurts Dallas' chance at LMA. Who do they have at PG now? Aging Dirk. Rondo gotta be going somewhere else.

I don't think Dallas was ever really a possibility for LMA. Only reason he even met with them is because that's his hometown.

I still don't get the center issue. Duncan plays a lot of center already, and most agree this is his last year. So, at worst, LMA would have to play a few minutes a game at center for one season. Doesn't seem like much of a deal breaker.

man if Dallas doesn't land DJ, they could be legitimately bad this year. Old Dirk+Parsons isn't enough

Because long term after Duncan retires, you are down duncan, Splitter went to ATL, BAynes to Det.

Unless they sign a center LMA will play C which he doesn't want to do.

We have stability having 2 quality centers in Chandler and Len.

Still think SA is the favorite to land him bc of Popovich and legacy of the spurs but this might help our cause a little

Duncan only averaged 27 minutes a game last year. LMA would have to play a lot more than a few minutes a game at center for one season.

Mavs losing Chandler and Monta hurts their chances for LMA.

Unless they sign DJ, they do not seem like an attractive place to go they don't have any talent around them.

Dirk will be done in a year or two.

I think we can cross the Mavs off the list.

Which really makes it SA, PHx, or Houston.

Houston would have to clear cap space like we would have to

If trading and letting centers go was really going to sway Aldridge one way or another, do you really think the Spurs would have let that happen? If one team is two steps ahead of the game it's the Spurs.

Duncan will most likely have to sit out Back-to-Backs also. Dude is 39 years old.

Even the best chess players lose sometimes.

If LMA was so gung ho on going to the Spurs, why even hold any meetings>?

I don't think legacy plays at all into this decision. if he wanted legacy, Lakers have won a lot more championships than SA, plus have more great players.

Playing for Popovich might have a little appeal, but I think Aldridge realizes that without having Tim Duncan to coach for 18 years, Pop would be just another Stan van Gundy.

West is in no way a center. Getting West while losing all their Cs ensures that Aldridge has to be their 5.

What could their Center plan possibly be? A trade for a Tier 1 center? DeAndre Jordan? I think all of the good free agent centers are signed and locked into contracts... unless it is the PHI centers. Henry Sims? Embiid?

At 4. West will do the job for this year's run for the title.

I bet Spurs could get Miles Plumlee to back up Duncan at C.

Kendall Marshall just announced his availability. That should close LMA for Dallas.

Because Duncan has a season left at best. Because Duncan takes a lot of games off and when he's not playing, guess who the center ends up being.

Maybe this is why the Spurs are trying to trade for Heywood, either to keep as a C or in a salary cap dump to bring in a guy like Koufos or Fropez

The Spurs are still the favorite but the Suns having 2 centers locked up long term only helps their cause.
