Not disappointed at all by this loss, good fight against a team that's just plain better right now. Really like how Elfrid meshed with the team for the first game. He may not be a shooter, but being a non-shooting point guard works a lot better when you're not 5'9". Excited to see how this team looks with Booker back out there.

Don't look now, but Bender averaging 15.4/6.6/2.8 on 54/52/88 shooting the last 5 games. He's really flipped a switch in his game since the team/Troy publicly asked for him to shoot more, hope he can continue to build on this.

Denver outscored us by 18 via 3s.

That's my only issue with Payton he put up a great game but I'd argue Canaan getting streaky is worth more.

He's handled it very well, i didn't see that coming.

Bender always fights on defense, but yeah I was surprised that Jokic wasn't able to ragdoll him like he did to Chriss. Confident in his ability to play the 5 part time in the future, not just vs smallball lineups.

Really liked how on some of the post touches he really looked to attack the smaller man, instead of fading like he did a few other times. Maybe good to diversify, but usually when you have a size advantage = bully ball.

That's because Chriss doesn't have the length or defensive IQ. Athleticism only goes so far. Bender plays smart defence and uses that length very well? Chriss just let's people back him down until he can go for the block

I must say I had no idea Payton was this good and we got him for a second rounder. This is most definitely a STEAL and I can't wait to see him and Booker in the back-court. Thank you Orlando Magic

Elfrid, Jackson, Warren and Bender played really really well...the rest of the team was terrible tonight.

Daniels can only shoot from three. He does not add anything and that is a problem if he plays more than 15 minutes per game.

Chriss....what can I say? I mean, the guy thinks that the world is against him. And his basketball IQ looks like is getting worse and worse.

Len is a backup C at best. He played again badly, that is why he was benched.

Dudley can not play next season if he does not get in better shape.

Well, hopefully Booker plays soon and we can watch him next to Elfrid.

Couldn't watch the game unfortunately but the things I like the most

  • Bender 23 point with only 5 3 point attempts: indicates he was more aggressive going to the basket
  • Josh Jackson all around stat line: 20 points on 52.6% shooting is great - but what I love even more is 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks. This is what I'm hoping JJ will become for us, a guy who will have an impact for this team across the board.
  • Bender all around stat line: similar to Josh Jackson - 8 rebounds / 4 assists /couple of blocks and a steal.
  • Bouncing back from a 50 point blow out - for a team this young to play with confidence after getting blown out on national TV is exactly the mental grit we look for in our young players.

Overall, on paper, it looks like Payton had a big impact for our line-up. Looking forward to getting Booker back (I'm assuming after the all-star break) to see what our team looks like then.

Wow! I have not enjoyed watching a PG play for us like this since Dragic! (Or Nash obviously)

I love how EP moves the ball and directs the offense. As Orlando fans said, he's a great passer and he can get to the rim and finish!

His defense is awful, but that just means he will fit right in!

Can't wait to see what he can do with Booker (Mr 70), Tyson (Mr. lob) and Sauce (Mr. floater).

Seriously

JOSH JACKSON looked like a beast tonight. He looks like hes going to be good.

Bender looked great, he looks like he needs to be pissed off more, but he will be very good as well.

To me, Payton made the entire team play better. I like that! He only really tried to score if he had an open lane to the basket, or he had to, the majority of the time it was all about creating for teammates, you know, the exact OPPOSITE of what Bledsoe did.

Yeah, bledsoe just wants his own shot. His assists are simply a byproduct of him having the ball the time.
