If Watson/coaches are willing to experiment, to give a leash, I'd suggest letting Dragan be a primary facilitator in the half court from the high post, as well as the freedom to grab and go off defensive rebounds. Need off-ball cuts and general movement though and I think Booker/Warren/Chriss can do this pretty well. I honestly think your offense will take another step if you allow this to happen. Booker is great on-ball in PnR situations, but also off-ball as he works off screens/handoffs. Chriss is already a lob and cutting threat. Cannot see how this would be a negative.

Someone needs to send Earl Watson some video of nothing but Jokic and Saric passing/ball handling highlights.

It's obvious that I really like Lauri and I've already predicted he'll be a better pro than either Bender or Chriss. So I might do it if it were the only way to get Markkanen but I don't WANT to trade either of them. I really like the idea of a front court of Bender, Chriss and Markkanen. Lauri will never be a great rim protector but both Bender and Chriss can help out there.

Just watching Bender highlights he is so much more agile and graceful than Len. His ball handling looks really good and he reminds me of a tall Goran Dragic. Plays very good defense and has a nice looking shot. I can't wait for him to get back on the court. Next year is even going to be better. I hope he gets minutes at the center spot. Bender and Chriss should make a formidable front count for the Suns for both offense and defense.

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

haha.... good one Myag....

but if Love can be had for a top pick, then so can JBut. Chicago has zero leverage in this deal. No reason why we have to give up anyone.

We don't have Lebron and we are not "only 1 star away from championship". We don't need Love or Butler as much as Cavs needed.

Find out that he's not yet anywhere near physically strong enough for the position? Don't we already know that? The last thing he needs coming off an injury is to be forced to grind against guys who have 20-60 lbs on him.

I always thought the people who saw Bender as a potential center meant down the line once he fills out, putting him there now for anything more than spot minutes is just asking for trouble. The reason he hangs out on the perimeter isn't because he lacks an interior skill set, he simply just isn't strong enough to compete inside at this stage.

I was really high on Bender when we drafted him and i still believe in him because he is young, but i remember hearing Watson (i think) say he should play small forward because he does not like to bang down low. That set off a MASSIVE red flag for me and his play during games has indicated that.

His feelings and tendencies may change after he bulks up and gets stronger.

Question for you all that watched the game, was he just parked in the corner on most possessions again? Did the Suns get the ball in his hands at the high post/elbow a bit for once? Maybe some time as a screener/short roller?

I see he had a productive game in limited minutes in his first game back from the injury, which is always a good sign that the talent is there. There's not much to doubt on that front, but looking long-term I have significant concerns about whether or not your coaching staff/organization actually understand his skillset enough to utilize him to his fullest potential.

I know it's a bit early to be raising these concerns but up until this point, I haven't seen any signs that the Suns will do anything but make him an off-ball floor spacer. That's like making LeBron or Ben Simmons a floor spacer, or Nikola Jokic a screen/rebound/hustle big. Square peg in a round hole.

edit: looked at some play-by-play footage, nice to see Ulis looking for him on his transition rim run/post seals. Otherwise not much to go on

I don't think he was parked in the corner, but he did spend the majority of his time out on the perimeter as usual. Didn't see many high post touches, we played him more at the 3 tonight with a bigger lineup. I did feel like he got into the paint more today though, considering I hadn't seen him do much posting up to take advantage of mismatches this year and he did it a couple times today. It also seemed like he was making more off ball cuts to the basket/to his spots, especially when he was on the weak side. I'd also like to see him get more opportunity to make plays for others, but it's tough right now with how ball dominant Ulis and Booker can be and him just coming back from 2 months off while all the young players have been getting a lot of time together. Defense was solid as usual though, and it seemed like he was crashing the boards harder than I remember.

He's the youngest player in the league and just coming off of an injury though, so I'm sure that what we've seen thus far his rookie year isn't the extent of how he'll be used, especially after we invested the 4th pick in the draft on him.

He played at low post when smaller players guarded him and he just used turnaround hook shot. It was nice to see. I think with him getting stronger, we'll use every aspect of his game.
