I think he will play. He looked fine during and after the game.

Unless this was something that happened at practice?

A sprained ankle is something you don't want to mess with. But that really sucks if he doesn't play. I really wanted to see him against Jokic.

This is really good. I highly suggest reading it. Seeing the videos is necessary. I know there is a subscription but there may be a free trial.

That graph must be inverted and flipped, because Doncic is clearly the best rookie ever and Ayton takes too many jump shots and passes too much!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I think a lot of these over simplified "stats" are dumb.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I thought the same, but then I was so used to seeing Jackson, Chriss and Bender in the bottom-left quadrant over the years, and it made me think that chart is on to something. It's nice to have a rookie impact the game positively right off the bat.

Yeah, the sample size very small, but that whole "Ayton is an empty stats guy; Doncic, JJJ and Carter will impact the game much more" narrative is off to a great start.

Ayton - On court +2.0 NetRtg, Off court -30.6 NetRtg
Doncic - On court -6.1 NetRtg, Off court +3.5 NetRtg
JJJ - On court -12.4 NetRtg, Off court +11.9 NetRtg
Carter - On court -10.6 NetRtg, Off court +1.1 NetRtg

Ayton is the next great big man, as in even better than the Towns and Davis... these two are GREAT Power Forwards in their own right, but Ayton plays like a proper "Center"... thus his comparisons are Cousins and Embiid really... he's like a Cousins but better.... he's like Embiid, but will likely surpass him as an inside scorer, especially because Embiid wants to develop his 3pt shooting... but the one thing preventing Ayton from being a Hakeem/Admiral/Shaq/Ewing level center is his lack of hunger for protecting the rim.... hopefully it comes because he has the skills to do it.. but just the lack of hunger.

Wow, we are REALLY bad without him. About average with him. These numbers really reflect their backups or alternatives though. We have terrible players behind those guys...the other teams have fairly good alternatives, and I don't even know if JJJ or Carter start, so who they play with may impact that. And Dallas has been missing Barnes. But year, small sample size. Ayton's certainly an impact player on offense in a big way...and on D when you consider rebounding as part of that.

He's far from Embiid on the defensive side....like really far. Maybe like him on offense with fewer turnovers and more assists. Probably will be more efficient too. I imagine his net impact will not be close yet though.

He’s closer to Kanter defensively than Embiid.

Agreed on the offensive end. Embiid takes a lot of 3s (which he isn’t good at) and stupid shots while Ayton doesn’t seem to force up many bad shots so I see him being better on that end eventually.

What this tells us is that Tyson Chandler is REALLY bad.

You know what's ironic? If Kanter had Ayton's athleticism, what would Kanter be? :o People compare Ayton to Kanter because they play similarly, but they seem to think Ayton's athleticism won't take him to a different level.
