Yeah they are a mid market team with a bad reputation. If they can change that reputation they vault to squarely in the second tier just below the LA/Miami types. I've thought for years that phoenix is a bit of a sleeping giant of an NBA market because it's a place guys do actually like living.

I consider this a much much worse thing than Fred Van Vleet saying he wants to get paid.

Pretty much. 1st tier is LA teams, Knicks/Nets, Bulls, Heat. Then you have teams like Houston, Dallas or us. Not a top destination, but far from the cella dwellaz of this league.

Hell I'd argue if the suns rep is right they are ahead of the bulls. Big city but they've had surprisingly bad luck recruiting FAs. Plus it's cold as hell in the winter. Atlanta is another market that should in theory be more attractive than it is.

LOL, I am assuming most folks on this boards are in the area. The unofficial attendance at game are probably closer to 5k-7k. The city and state do not care much about sports, they care even less about the Suns. Denver is considered mid market. And Phoenix is below Denver.

I'm talking about player interest not fan support, they can be tied together some but not exactly the same.

All AZ sports are extremely fair weather types. Mostly because like myself we grew up someplace else and root for other teams too (bucks are my other squad). When phoenix was good in the nash era they filled the arena.

Think twice about it.

I always liked Oladipo, so when I knew about that some hours ago, I made some research and talked to some people.

My conclusion was: Oladipo is by no means an idiot and he's a classy and elegant guy.

Attendance is bad bcs we sucked for a whole decade. That's not rocket science. If we talk markets, Suns are top third, no doubt about that.

KOC about the #10 pick:
The Suns are hoping to use this pick to trade for Oklahoma City point guard Chris Paul, according to league sources. If the Thunder end up here, it’s unclear whom they would target. But if the Suns stay put, it makes logical sense they’d pursue a wing like Okoro since they’re still seeking trades involving Kelly Oubre. It’s been a challenge to find a home for Okoro, who has received interest as high as no. 5 with the Cavaliers, though that noise has quieted in recent weeks. Despite his elite defense and intangibles, teams are concerned about the development of his jumper.

Could get interesting to see how this plays out. But I'm having trouble seeing how they clear enough cap space for Jrue Holiday? The only reasonable trades that I could maybe see for them would be with Atlanta, Maybe Hayward for the 6th pick? Or maybe Detfoit, Am I missing others? They'd need to clear what.....Around 26 million or so in order to absorb Holiday? So most likely Kemba and one or two other small pieces for Kennard/ And the 7th pick? Then they'd flip Kennard/ 7th/ 2021 lottery protected first to New Orleans for Holiday?

It would suck for the strong ( Boston) to get stronger. But I'd love this in that Kem a or Hayward would tie up a significant portion of their available cap for free agency, Meaning that we wouldn't have to overpay for Christian Wood by much if at all, IF they blow their cap load on either.

How is OConnor with this stuff? He has to be better than Broussard, Kyler and Schultz but whats his hit ratio on this stuff.

I still don't see the Suns giving the 10 unless they get back the 25. They will need somebody on a rookie deal.

Chicago will always be ahead of the Suns because of the Jordan era. Having that kind of legacy in pro-sports is huge to the players and culture. The SSOL and KJ era Suns were amazing, especially from a fan's perspective, but since we never won it all (let alone repeatedly) we were always overshadowed by the dynasty's of those eras.

It makes sense they try to move the pick for useful veteran player if they are going the win-now mode. Let's be honest, this draft sucks.

If the trade ends being Rubio + Oubre + 10# for Paul and nothing else, I'm officially a Mavs fan though, after being a Suns fan for almost 30 years.

Yeah you'd think with their legacy they'd be a more attractive destination but it's just not proved out to be the case post Jordan. Like I can't even think of one big name FA they have actually landed.

Just like the Suns and Knicks, and GSW pre-Kerr/Curry, a decade of mismanagement will put a damper on any shine that a franchise had. And success will make any destination more appealing, like MIN w/ KG, MIL w/ Giannis, and BOS....no one actually wants to live in Boston.

I know about DB and Galo from Italy, but what's the deal with a CP3 & Galo connection, I can't find anything about it?

Ha well there's a hint in the photo in that tweet...

They're on the same team now and had a good year. I don't think it's some cosmic connection or anything, just recent familiarity and success.
