They will be in a few years with:

-The best young post player in the league - Okafor
-A Marcus Camby clone - Noel
-The best player in Europe coming over - Saric (or whatever his name is)
-Plus whoever they trade Embiid for
-Plus whoever they draft with their stockpile of picks.

An Ewing/Camby/Ginobli core would be something to fear and I think that's not a completely unreasonable comparison.

You are overrating them.

yah bc altho dario saric is good... as we know, he's no Rising Star!!!

I must have missed it.
I knew the Lakers & Pacers were talking a Hibbert trade. It seems it went official? Is that true and what were the trade details?

They should try to appropriate our Three Headed Hydra gimmick and trot them out on the court at the same time and refer to them as the " June Triplets"

If something is rarely used, but effective when used, is it really a gimmick?

They will be in a few years with:

-The best young post player in the league - Okafor -- We don't know that considering he's played exactly zero games in NBA yet
-A Marcus Camby clone - Noel -- And that's OK--Camby was really good, and dominant on D, but was never an offensive stud. I like Len's game better.
-The best player in Europe coming over - Saric (or whatever his name is) -- I thought we had the best player in Europe in Bogdan; and if not, he's not far behind, so we basically have our 'ace in the hole' in Europe as well.
-Plus whoever they trade Embiid for -- Right now, he's not worth anything, especially with his injury being potentially career threatening.
-Plus whoever they draft with their stockpile of picks. -- What about our stockpile of picks? Sure, we have about only half as many 1st rounders, and their 2nd Rounders are, well, 2nd Rounders.

An Ewing/Camby/Ginobli core would be something to fear and I think that's not a completely unreasonable comparison.

Agreed. Philly isn't in any better position than us, in all honesty. We have Bledsoe, Knight, and Len that are worth a good deal now, and Warren, Bogdanovic, and likely Booker worth good deal in the future. Oh, and we actually have a competitive team, so there's that...

Is anyone else a little annoyed by this?
Why isn't he helping Suns players? I'm sure our guys could use some pointers from Nash.

I'm sure if he can really teach Clarkson much but I think he's good for a pass first PG like Russel.

I thought Russel's comparisons were more in line with scoring guards like Harden/Ginobli and not pass first PGs like Nash/Paul

Did you see his crib in those Grantland documentary videos? He was steps to the sand and surrounded by MILFs!

Being a 40 year old single millionaire in LA probably doesn't suck.

$10 says he starts banging an actress or singer.

I think he's probably already been there and done that....many, many times.

Philly is a disaster. They're the worst team in the NBA over the course of the past 3 years and all they have to show for it is Okafor (a guy who projects to be a solid offensive big but not a superstar) and Noel... a defense role player. And Embiid was just "bad luck", picking injured players was part of their tanking strategy.

Outside of those two players the roster is a complete mess. So, they've been basically unwatchable for a long time, they have AT LEAST 2 more years of being pathetic to go and that numbers is only likely to get worse rather than a sudden uptick (which they'd probably address by deliberately trashing the roster more anyway).

Yeah, those were the comparisons but by all accounts he is a very good passer. But Harden probably is too. He may have some Nash/Curry like qualities in that he CAN shoot really well but he is also a very good passer. I've read a quote of him saying he enjoys passing more than scoring, but I've also seen him have gaves with like 25 points a only a few assists. He played SG in college but projects to be a PG, kind of like Westbrook was.

Note - I'm not saying he is in the same universe as guys like Nash, Curry and Westbrook in their primes. Who knows if he can get there. I know some people think he is going to be a big time stud (DRK? Others here as well). Time will tell. He's also been rated as having very high bust potential, but can't remember how that was determined.

Man Clippers signing Josh Smith? The emotions will be running high in that locker room with all the personalities they have there.

Russell is a boom or bust player with a low floor and ceiling of superstardom according to some clairvoyant analytic formulas but I think he will be somewhere in between the extremes although its possible his lack of an explosive first step and inability to finish with his off hand on the right limits him. The reasoning goes that his statistical plus minus which is used as a hallmark ( player's contributed point differential per 100 team possesions) is projected to be well above replacement during his first 5 NBA seasons. He maintained a high player efficiency rating despite a meteoric usage rate in college although it was on a pedestrian Ohio State offense and his pace/team adjusted box-score stats were as a resulted inflated to make him look better. So the " experts " think it could go either way and gave him a bust percentage of 40% which is a number they pulled out of their a*ses imo

Russell will do fine in the modern NBA where shooters who can dribble will be on the court plenty of times and get plays for them.

I would love him on the Suns because he either can be a play maker or a shooter... he can dribble and create plays.

When he played AZ in the tourney he was absolutely shut down by RHJ, so he may have a hard time going against NBA defenders, at least for awhile...though he could have just had an off game. Stanley Johnson had bad numbers in that game too.

Russell can end up being like Dragic I think. A scoring guard with good play making abilities. I base this speculation off of youtube highlights  Im not sure if he has nearly the open court speed of Dragic though.

There already were some chemistry problems on that team but now...

Wow.

Smith and Stephensen are time bombs.

Add in the Chris Paul/DeAndre Jordan element and it's like a stick of TNT in the roadrunner/coyote cartoons.

Maybe we can pick up the pieces and snag Blake Griffin if he gets irritated. (Dreaming)

Of course, if doc keeps it together, that team could also be super dangerous.

holy cow. Smith, Stephenson, Jordan is a ton of male drama. Blake Griffin can't wait to get out of this soap oper when he hits free agency.
