Trade #7: Gargantuan Switcheroo (paying less to an older Green allows NO to deal Ryan later)

Why do we always trade low, even Teletovic and Leuer are pretty much worthless compared to a month ago.

We don't. Not too many teams need a point guard, so I think the IT trade was the best we could do. We got two unprotected 1sts from Miami, which is a steal and a half.

Leuer's not going anywhere. Telly maybe, but he's only on a one year deal. We are expecting to lose him, one way or another.

Suns bring in young talent and send Keef to the cold:

Timberwolves wouldn't let go of Wiggins if you chopped off their hands.

Weren't the 2 unprotected firsts from the Dragic trade?

I thought we only got a late first and an expiring Marcus Thornton from BOS for IT.

im just happy that the mavs got rid of tyson chandler. he was overrated, is overrated and will be overrated when he retires.
(mavs better defensivly with Dirk on the floor and tyson out than vice versa :X during 2010/2011 and playoffs)

• Most rival executives believe it remains a matter of when, not if, Phoenix trades disgruntled swingman Markieff Morris.

The Suns, though, stubbornly continue to hold out for stronger offers, which might not be forthcoming given the relatively dim view leaguewide about Morris' stock at the moment, stemming not only from the tension he has caused in the desert dating to last summer but also the uncertainty of Morris' potential legal trouble stemming from a felony aggravated assault charge levied in the spring of 2015

I still think the Kieff trade to Cleveland makes the most sense - for BOTH teams

Kieff and Knight, throw in Tucker help the Cavs against the teams they will need to beat

Love becomes the cornerstone again with Bledsoe, Booker and Warren

Chandler for Varejao added to the trade- only if Cleveland REALLY wants to go all in

How often do you win a trade by giving away the best player in it (From Cleveland POV)? Any examples?

Kieff to Wizards makes a lot of sense. They are desperate to make playoffs and have a big hole at the 4 (Duds and washed up Nene). My target would be either a pick (GL with that) or Oubre (I know he has flaws but so does Kieff).

I'd love to get onto the Brooklyn picks Boston holds.

Doubt they'd give up striking gold though, only we do that with the Lakers pick.

It's funny, it seemed like I was one of the few that really liked the signing.

Yeah, it's pretty funny reading all these "I really like IT" comments right now, when last season every game thread was full of "McD, please trade this ball hog midget for a bag pf chips. Now!" comments. And after the game, when IT usually was the guy who led the Suns in scoring and +/-, everyone was saying that it ware empty stats and if he didn't play the Suns would have won by 20 with Dragic scoring 30+ points.

This. Everyone loved the signing, but by mid-season the hate for IT was every bit what it is for Knight right now. BTW. If we had traded Kieff last summer, everyone would be pining to have him back now.

Thomas is the same player he was here. He has more minutes and consistent playing time in Boston. He just wasn't a good fit here, and for that, I'm glad he is gone.

sunsbum wrote:Morris does not have negetive trade value, and by backing up that claim with quotes from "REAL" GM general board posters is super hilarious to me.

Everyone knows kieff is just using the one card he has against the suns which is not giving a ****. Unbeknownst to him this is great because hes helping us tank which is probably why hes still getting burn.

I dont think Knight has negetive trade value either. There us always a sucker GM out there. Always. Besides, if someone can talk knight into a 6th man role somewhere, who knows? Alex len is a great example. Shaky at center above average starter at PF.

Holy shnikies...You just contradicted yourself in one statement. Congratulations! That's not easy to do. You just said yourself "there's always a sucker GM out there." Why would the GM need to be a "sucker" to take a "positive value" Knight?

And just as 1UPz stated, a GM is going to want 'proof' that Kieff is 'dogging it' and not playing to his full potential. Just because he did ONE season, doesn't mean he can do it again. Case in point: Dragic. Had one great season, and since?? On a different team??? Yeah, NOT playing to his $17M contract...not even close. What makes you SO sure that Kieff is just 'dogging it', and not just simply regressed. And even if he is 'dogging it', and pretend your a GM, do you want a guy that's acting like a baby because things aren't going his way? But yeah, he's worth $8M per for another 3+ years. I don't care WHAT the Cap is, you don't pay $8M for either a) a regressing talent worth maybe $4M...tops...or b) a big baby that's acting up because he didn't get his way.

Again, you can believe what you want to believe, and yes, other non-Suns' posters provide a less biased opinion than Suns' fans regarding Suns' players. Just because you try to discount what I posted by being over-dramatic or using hyperbole, doesn't make your statement more right; it just shows how much in 'lala' land you are living. So I'm glad what I posted was 'super hilarious' to you; and I'm glad unbiased opinion and evidence of fact makes you laugh. I, however, do not find anything Morris is doing, funny at all.

And regarding Chandler, RunDog? Very few, if any, GMs will want to take on Chandler's $13M per contract just for 30+ games of 'rim protection.' Chandler has shown his elite rebounding skills for less than half the games he played. If he consistently provided 15 TRB per game over the past 40+ games, the yes, a GM would take that chance. But as he does it so infrequently, he can't be counted on to provide that game after game at his age. And he's only getting older. If anyone here thinks Chandler will be providing $13M per worth of services over the next 3 years, REGARDLESS of an increase in teams' Salary Cap, and thinking a GM will either disregard this fact, or believe this to be true, then sadly, you are fooling yourselves.

Among Centers, Chandler ranks:

46th in Blocks, 19th in TRB, 56th in points--all this on 24 minutes per game. This equates to him being 11th in Rebounds per minute across all positions. Pretty good you say? Maybe, but when Jared Sullinger, Bismack Biyombo, Enes Kanter, Thomas Robinson, Julius Randle, and Zaza Pachulia rank above him, well, that shows that this particular stat isn't the best predictor of success. Why? Well, those other players, like Chandler, are not having to avg 36 minutes a game, so when your legs are fresh every day, well, that skews the results some. Why would a GM pay $13M for a player that can only hold up for 24 minutes a game, which is only 1/2 a game?

Sorry, but Chandler, Markieff, and Knight are not going to appear to be a value piece by other GMs. They are not going to come a callin' asking for these guys, and McD is not likely desiring to trade any of them while their value is down. All three COULD resurrect their value, but personally, I'm not seeing it. When/if McD trades these guys, one of two things are going to happen:

1) McD is going to have to add a value piece to the trade to have another GM take them off our hands...or...

2) McD is going to have to take back a bad contract to offset these any of these three players.

But likely? Since McD typically doesn't like losing trades? We will not trade Knight or Chandler, because neither are negative influences in the locker room. But Kieff will likely be unloaded to that "Sucker GM" you mentioned sunsbum.
