So with respect to that, imo we should be trying to make the team building process as in depth as possible. And part of doing that should mean giving serious consideration to an auction, contract, and/or salary cap system, or some combination of those.

I believe a more in-depth process of team building would compliment the roto 8-cat format far more than the yearly redraft leagues where the 8-cat roto format just means whomever's team is stacked the most wins, which causes gridlock in regards to trade negotiations because the winner of the trade is simply the person with the better total stats. Roto can also be a bit of a snore because you don't really have to pay very much attention to your team in season/post draft. Maybe a different system like a cap would help with increasing in-season participation beyond setting lineups.

As for trades in dynasty last year we had ones involving Jokic, Collins & Butler (iirc), and DeAaron Fox. So imo I think we're already doing pretty decently with regards to trades, especially because in dynasty there is a dynamic of long term youth growth vs current veteran production. I can see a contract/cap system potentially hamstringing owners in regards to trades, so that's one area we'd need to be careful with.
Auctions are interesting. I could get behind a free agency style period where we all pick our 7 keepers get say $100, you can designate a franchise player for $20 and they are untouchable, otherwise they will hit a free agency auction. Owners of the keeper hold the right to match the highest bid. Not sure how to settle disputes for owners with $0 and open keeper spots (we could do a "draft" of the remaining keepers based on whatever criteria, like say player with least open keeper slots gets first choice, and have some sort of tie-breaker).

I just don't want to have to keep track of who makes what money, trying to make trades work, and who's expiring, etc. but I don't mind freshening up the available players.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I'll take Maxi Kleber.

I thought about taking him instead of Aleksej....I had also thought of Rose but completely forgot about him when I picked.

Yeah Maxi was going to be my pick. He should be in for a lot of minutes to begin the season with Kristaps out til Jan/Feb.

Yeah a keeper + auction style would be pretty cool. A separate rookie draft would probably make sense in that regard. So lower teams can still get their higher potential prospects.

Gonna take Gary Harris and hope he stays healthy and goes back to his 2017-18 production. Though I feel he might just be one of those players that got his money and is coasting now.

I had him last year too and he's playable even when KP is playing. With how many injured dudes I'm rocking I need as many playable dudes as possible.

Gonna go with an upside pick here and hope I strike it big with Chris Boucher. Not too early for him I hope and I suspect I'll make a few people here pretty mad.

Yeah, he could be interesting. I looked at him too. Was wondering how the minute breakdown would be between him, Baynes and Len.

He can play a bit of PF because he can shoot the 3 a little bit, and he's 6'9", whereas Baynes and Len are stiffs locked into the center position. Baynes will probably start but he is old and never has been a big mpg guy and Len is...Len. The opportunity is there for Boucher to be more than relevant if he's good enough to seize it, and after looking at his per 36 minutes it seems like Boucher only needs to get mid 20s minutes to be relevant. . The Raptors staff wants him to take Ibaka's role.

That's obviously a best case scenario (Ibaka + more rebounds in high 20s mpg) so I'm not super high on him or anything- he has to actually be a good player to get that role in the first place. Every other name on the board I felt could be had in a scrub for scrub mid season trade.

I had him last season and almost dropped Ross to keep Brooks. He was super solid. I also almost just nabbed him again, but Hardaway Jr. just barely beat him out to make my squad. Was really hoping he would still be there for my next pick (Which is only 5 picks away). Great pick-up!

I thought that was a strange move, to keep Ross over Brooks, or even keep an 8th at all. What was the thought process behind Ross>Brooks? Neither player was really on my radar but at first glance it seems like Brooks would have been the keeper provided you wanted to keep an 8th at all.

My way of thinking was this: My team is built as a win now team, i only have one super young player on my squad for the future (Clarke), my deep bench was filled with guys i could actually play and get production from. I kept an 8th because i knew i had a late 1st round pick, not to mention that this years real draft class was weak, so i wouldnt be taking a rookie, but an already established player. I didnt think there would be many options better for me than Ross or Brooks.

Now i chose Ross over Brooks because while being very similar players in what production/stats they provide, Ross is a better 3 point shooter and has a better FT%. Everything else was pretty even. I also dont trust the Magic FO to improve the team (Which they really didnt), leaving Ross with big minutes, not to mention Isaac missing the entire season. The only miscalculation on my part was i was expecting Fournier to leave the team, thus giving Ross an even bigger role in the offense. I felt that Memphis on the other hand has been doing great at adding in young talent and their squad is filled with youngsters bursting with potential that might steal some of Brooks thunder.

So yeah..... that was my logic behind all of that, but i agree, i should have just cut Ross and i probably could have got a much better player with my 1st round pick.

TASTIC might be running late, but we are doing fine time-wise, so I'll allow it.
