He has to. Dude was waaaaaay too heavy last season. It's fun to watch him bully ball from time to time but functionally playing at that size is hurting his abilities more than helping.

He also needs to be shooting at least 200 mid range jumpers a day.

Suns fans hate for Nurkic is extremely weird.

He was the only big worth a damn on the team last year'. Perfect? No. But he's a good starting center. He's a great rebounder and really good passer. Solid defender against bigger dudes (he struggles in space for sure). We played much worse with him off the floor.

He has to learn how to shoot though. I think he has it in him. He just started cold shooting 3's and basically gave up on it, but he shot 36.1% on 2.3 attempts/game his last year in Portland. It's there. Now do it again but double the volume. Hope he spends all off-season shooting 3's.

Everybody clamors for shiny and new this time of year. That thirst makes them COMPLETELY discount and cheapen what a player did. Nutk is a quality big who punished some teams this year and made us relevant against the bigger centers who usually bullied us. A mostly healthy year, doing center **** we missed during the Ayton years. The team an gm should have had a rim running option small ball C for the games that Nurk didn't fit, it's not his fault we didn't.

That's the thinnest I've ever seen Nurk. I wonder if that translates to him being more agile during games. Would be kind of strange to see him moving quickly.

Just hope it's not one of these with guys like Zion and Luka showing up to camp looking their best ever and then slowly gain all that weight back by the seasons end.

IMO if he wants to continue playing it was a non-negotiable.

Looks like he gets it - hoping that he keeps it off in season because it will do nothing but help.

Hopefully that extra weight was causing him to miss those lil bunny shots in the paint, and now he'll make those with ease. 8-)
His offensive rebounds per game is going to drop, but that will be fine with me.

He looked lighter coming into last season. I don't understand how people can gain weight during a season unless they are injured. I mean a guy running 30 minutes, full speed at times, etc, that is crazy good exercise, even twice a week..but usually 3 and sometimes 4. You see other guys play into shape like Harden. Shaq made it an annual thing to come in fat and play himself in shape by all star game or so.

Think Nurk is at a crossroads in his career. He's 29 with 2 years left on his deal. Teams know (and I'm sure he knows as well - Draymond made it a point to ridicule him publicly several times) that he can't stay on the floor in the playoffs, and his overall playoffs record is terrible (3-17 record in 20 playoff games).

His defense in space is suspect, and that'll always be the case, but he NEEDS to provide value on offense, or his career is toast after this contract. He needs to re-invent himself as a shooting big, and be an adequate drop defender.

If he becomes that - someone who shoots 35% from 3 on 3-4 attempts a game, and uses his size to play solid drop defense, then that keeps him in the league for another 5 years easily on good money.

If he continues to try and play old-school bruiser style offense, brick layups and struggle from the line, he'll be playing on vet min contracts after this one.

good player obviously. does a lot of things right on the floor even with his horrendous finishing and slow feet. As a regular season player he's better than Ayton. But his weaknesses are so obvious in the playoffs that we need a quicker guy in the middle backing him up since Nurkic obviously cannot play the same mpg in the playoffs that he does in the regular season.

I don't really think Plumlee is that guy (old, and isn't he slow? forgot the scouting but at least he aint Eubanks), and Igodharo (how tf you spell it?) is a rookie. We'll see.

Good to see him looking thinner, and you can tell the weight loss is legit since there are lots of different angles/lightings. Should help him a bit.

New Nurkic has me excited! Out of all the players returning for the Suns, I think I'm most excited to see how Nurkic plays. Probably also Beal for what it's worth.
