In effort to secure the '15 LAL pick, add an effective back-up (play & cost) PF, help grease the re-signing Dragic wheels and open up cap space for free agency this summer (Suns won't have much room as it stands now)....

The IT signing ends up getting them Davis, securing the high lotto LAL pick at its highest point and opening up more cap space for a FA season that has more of what this team needs for the long run, unlike last year. I also believe that if the Suns don't get the LAL pick this year, it'll be a middle 1st rounder next year.

This could hurt the Suns chances for a playoff spot this year, but personally I wouldn't mind that...I'm looking more towards the future. I'd also like to see Tyler Ennis get significant and consistent minutes at PG. The way things are looking, Ennis might be the Suns ONLY PG. The current three have hardly looked point guard-ish at all.

The suns can get way more than that for IT! Basically the suns get nothing in return in that scenario.

The Lakers don't want IT. They could have had him at a discount (lower than what we offered) and they didn't bite. Anyway. That was what was rumored last summer.

Yeah, the longer the Laker pick goes unconveyed to the Suns the more valuable it becomes. I would rather keep the pick until next year when it is only top 3 protected. Kobe will still be playing therefore no legit star will want to come to LA. If you really want to roll the dice wait 2-3 years and it becomes an unprotected pick.

I'm sure there is a 16-17 year old potential all star somewhere in America that we can begin rosterbating over right now.

It would take at least Dragic's expiring and IT's $7M to get us up to $14M. Then tack on Tucker or 2-3 low dollar contracts. That just to make it work financially.

That was the rumor given that IT got his name from a laker related bet. Going to them was supposedly his dream and they passed up on him so I doubt they take him since they already have 2 ballstoppers in kobe and Nick young.

Like someone else said, if the lakers keep their pick this year then they will still have room to add 1 max guy or 2 mid tier free agents. So THIS is the year to get that pick because next year I doubt it's any worse than 12th given how craptastic the east is and will be even worse next season.

Exactly what I mean. That trade scenario is enough. We can keep our important players Bledsoe, Goran and Len while adding Melo. I think NY would go for that trade. Also, Morris twins still here. Would Suns do it? I would hope so.

Melo is good rebounder and a pesky defender. We wouldn't be missing Tucker. IT would be our biggest lost in that trade but that can be made up with more playing time for Dragic and Bledsoe. Also, Melo can play PF at times. The more I think about it the more it makes sense!!

Doesn't overly solve our rebounding problem, but gives us a legit athlete who can defend at the 3 along with creating his own shot (better than Tucker), and allows Tucker to be a pest off the bench for 20-24mins a night.

Wright is an awesome back-up to Len and would probably be kept if the price was right. We'd probably need another big, but a guy like Barron can do what Shavlik does easily.

Also un-clutters the bench scoring and GGreen is the unquestioned heat-check guy. Ennis walks right in as the 3rd PG, or if anything Green's minutes go up with Dragic handling the ball more with Thomas gone.

The Dragic contract situation would likely be resolved more easily without Thomas around, not to mention possibly bringing Bogdanovich over as well.

Ideally I'd like to nab Sullinger from BOS but without adding the LAL pick I can't see them moving him.

^Sounds similar to what I posted a page or two ago. If we are trying to get Brandon Wright I'd rather not lose Miles Plumlee in the process. Mostly because he might just walk away over the summer. I don't think the Celtics need anymore bigs anyway, they don't even play Wright now, so Plumlee definitely wouldn't play.
My trade was IT/Tucker for Green/Wright. If the Celtics are rebuilding they are gonna need a veteran leader like Tucker around. Tucker isn't necessarily on a bad contract, it's very movable and I'm sure he could even be traded later to playoffs teams looking to bolster their bench.
Like you said Tastic, getting rid of IT would free up minutes for both Archie and Ennis off the bench. I know Jeff Green has a player option and is likely to exercise it this off-season, but that might not be a bad thing as that would give us the option of exploring better free agents anyway. Unless the trade works out chemistry wise, then sure I'd be glad to keep Jeff Green around.

we can acquire Wright with a pick. We have the space. Not sure i would give up our first tho. It will naturally come down to what others are offering and how bad we need another beanpole. IMO, we should just up Len's minutes, and continue with Plum and Keifmo to fill in.

These last 5 or 6 games show what we can do when the engine is fired up. IT and Green both have contributed enormously, flat out keeping us in games that could have gotten out of hand. I keep IT until Green's future is determined next yr. Frankly, we do not have replacements for them, offensively anyways. I also prefer our Green over theirs(celts).

Small move for a big, without disrupting the ChuckWagon is my prediction and advise.

First of all, I doubt the Lakers sign a huge name this offseason. There just are not difference makers that are going to switch teams. Marc Gasol isn't going anywhere. I guess Love could be a slight possibility, but that's still slight. You will basically have an older version of this crappy Kobe, and Julius Randle who will be a rookie basically, and a few decent players in one of the toughest conferences ever. The east is also getting better, not worse. Teams like Detroit, Boston and Orlando are probably going to be more competitive..

Also, who knows how good and deep the draft will be next year? It could be better. I wouldn't worry too much about not getting the pick. It would obviously suck not to get it next year either if they end up in the top 3, but we have so many young guys, it probably wouldn't be so bad for us to get it even later.

Even if the Lakers were better, you can always get good players at or around the 10th pick if you make the right choice, like when we got Marion and Amare. Hell, Dirk was taken with the 9th pick.

Bucher is an idiot; there's no doubt about that.

Goran's an interesting decision. I know everyone assumes he'll be back but I think he's going to test the waters in FA and it's very possible some desperate team like the Knicks could throw insane money at him this summer. I'm sure McD is talking to his agent about how much they are looking for this summer but really if I was his agent I would say i'm going to see what the market bears out. Which leaves the Suns with the decision of trying to get value for him at the deadline or risk losing him for nothing. I personally wouldn't trade him for the NO pick but I would get it if they trade him.

Dragic's decision is going to be influenced by how the three-point guard line-up works out in the end.

If they make the 7th seed and do some damage, I could see him giving us a slight discount and edge for resigning him.

But then again, it's money and money talks.
