You're watching a 17 year old playing with 28-30 year old vets banging against pros for years. He will have a while to adjust, and he won't reach his prime fast. After two years I don't expect a stud, but for long term future for the Suns, and in 4-5 years from now, I think he will look pretty damn good.

I've seen Ben Simmons play as a 16 year old against 20+ year olds and he dominated still... it wasnt a formal game, but a full court exhibition type match... but he was going up against semi pro/hopeful players and he looked good.


Bender's development will depend HIGHLY on him gaining enough mass and strength without losing his mobility.

You're still talking about college guys, most of who won't be pros. He still wasn't good enough to get his guy into the tourney. Bender is raw and is going to take a while which is fine because the top of the west is too tough to crack any time soon. We will still go for guys in free agency to help now I'm sure.

I'd have rather sent #34. They gotta be really high on Chriss.

On paper it's only 5 spots in the draft, but Chriss is a tier above anyone else available in the draft at this point.

Gambo makes great point. Five players on the court who can all shoot threes. Chriss and Bender could be a hell of a tandum on defense too. Lot to learn but physically gifted enough to guard the perimeter.

Mine was more of a small ball lineup. I think in the future, in small ball lineups, Bender would play 5, but right now he is more like a 3.

I read something the other day that the Suns thing Chriss may be a small forward later in his career. I dont know but I think that Bender is a player is is without a position because of his skills as a passer, ball-handler, and outside shooter.
