It's fair based on performance, but not based on popularity of Booker, how long we hold is rights, the fact he loves it here with his best friend Ulis, we are better served to compete in 2-3 years with more young talent with even more good picks after that, and Boogie being a free agent soon.

Really, I don't mind which direction we go. If we don't get Cousins then we stay the course and suck for another couple years. I don't mind. If we wanted to trade our assets to push for the playoffs next year I'm down for that too.
You really don't believe next year we'd be a top 3 team in the West with Bledsoe/Booker/Cousins and whoever else we can sign in the offseason? Maybe go after Gallinari, Hayward, or even Bojan Bogdanovic who seems to be a decent catch and shoot player.

No, next year, Boogie doesn't make us top 3, and we wouldn't have assets to get these guys. Bender is our highest upside prospect in years and is being judged WAY too early. Chriss is looking good. I think Warren is still recovering and not back to himself, and Len is underrated by many here. I think we have a bright future if we stand still, use our picks properly, trade Knight for whatever, and probably PJ, though I'd probably keep Chandler at minimum for another year and maybe to the end of his contract and make him a big man coach.

Maybe. That's 2 huge ego's to keep in check.

No chance we keep Watson. Butler and Cousins would eat him alive.

^Again I don't mind if we stand pat. We have a ton of young guys with upside. But if the deal that Ray Ray said is on the table, I'm doing it 10 times out of 10. If we are able to do that deal and ONLY give up one of those Miami picks, it's a done deal. Signed, sealed and delivered.

ray ray wrote:As much as I dislike Gambo's personality in the radio.. he does have credibility and he is correct about the talks between Kings/Suns.. however, It's nothing more than talks .. there is three players the Suns will not trade to the Kings for Boogie.. that's Bledsoe, Booker and Chriss.. everyone else will be on the table including our first this upcoming year and Miami's picks.. From what I'm being told, the Kings have been told by Cousins agent that if traded, Phoenix AND Washington are a prefer destination for his client becouse of Bledsoe and Wall (which is not a secret)...

Let me make this clear as it can be, there is talks between both teams.. but it's very unclear what he Suns have proposed or what the Kings have asked for. But a representative within the Suns org has said, its most likely going to take Alex Len, TJ Warren, Dragen Bender and our first in this upcoming draft..that's just the players he mentioned without even taking into consideration if the salaries matches..

Okay, I'm out for a while unless something breaks

That is what the Kings FO wants in the perfect scenario. That doesn't mean they will get it. I would say Knight gets added and we throw in a second pick.

Enter Jay Triano Watson back in assistant role, Steve Nash in the FO. There would be plan in place to attract FA's in the offseason whether its Wall or someone else.

Wall
Bledsoe
Booker
Boogie
Chandler

It's a real longshot, but that would be interesting. Maybe risk overpaying for Boogie to attract Wall this summer.

What is interesting is that if it happens, it'll probably come down head to head between Boston and us.

Ainge and McDonough have a good relationship and hopefully they don't try outbid each other.

That's a deal in my book. No questions asked. A mid level center who will need to be signed.... a role player and two projects. What's not to like? Seems almost a underpay except for Sactown driving their tank straight into the drink. With Boogie, they run the risk of a mid pick. And I think they lose it if it's 11 or higher.

Outside a Star for Star trade there's only really 2 teams who could win a serious bidding contest:

Phoenix - Phoenix 1st, Miami 1st, Len, Warren, Chriss, Knight.
Boston - Brooklyn 1st, Brooklyn 1st, Brown, Olynck, Johnson.

And that would be if it needed to, possible to do it for less.

I'm trying to piece together a trade that allows us to keep much of the youth we have intact, but still gives people what they want.

First, we have enough cap space to eat Gay's contract without technically giving up anything....which is nice. So i'll keep this as simple as possible.

Suns trade: Len/Chriss/Warren/Suns 2017 First/Suns 2017 2nd/Any choice another First we have
Suns get: Cousins/Gay/Zeller

Chandler/Zeller
Cousins/Bender
Tucker/Dudley/Gay
Booker/Barbosa
Bledsoe/Ulis

Kings trade: Cousins/Gay
Kings get: Okafor/Chriss/Warren/Suns 2017 First/Memphis 2019 First/Any choice another First we have

Youth. Next season the Kings can essentially have 5/5 of a starting lineup. And a trade like this pretty much guarantees them at worst a pick swap with the Sixers.

Celtics trade: Zeller/Memphis 2019 First
Celtics get: Len/Suns 2017 2nd

Celtics are an AWFUL rebounding team. Len gives them someone who would benefit from a change of scenery, and bolsters the rebouding/D that their front court is lacking. They clear Zeller who has a less than desirable contract, and are better equipped to compete in the playoffs.

Sixers trade: Okafor
Sixers get: Knight

Okafor is a wild card as well as Knight. This trade has been talked about forever, and now it happens.

no point in just trading for Cousins... Need another semi star or star.

Also suns can have 4 star or near stars... But if coaching remains the same... In this case... Lack of... Suns will still look silly next to good teams. Need a proper system... Suns currently hav an improvised system where Booker and Bledsoe takes turns scoring.

If it's below 11, Philly has the right to swap though so that would still end up with the lower pick. Also, Philly holds their unconditional 2019 pick - so not much incentive for the Kings to tank.

I don't think we stop with Cousins. After that the sky is the limit.

Boogie for Bender, Warren, Len, '17 and Miami '18?
No. No. No!

Cousins for Chriss, Warren, Len, '17 and Miami '18?
No!

Cousins for Chriss, Warren, Len, '17 and PHX '18 or '19?
no.

Cousins for Warren, Len, '17 and Miami '18 or Knight (roughly Gambo's original tweet)?
Risky but ok, I'd do it. The Kings aren't going to trade Cousins for that package, so it's moot.

I suspect there's not much to this Gambo-driven rumor above & beyond the many and normal GM to GM daily discussions. Yep, I'm sure McD has talked to Vlade about Boogie, and maybe there is a little heat.. who knows? Early, but this to me doesn't rise above the typical rumors we get from all sorts of Gambos or wannabe insiders this time of year. 98.6% of it is manufactured out of pure speculation in my opinion.

'Tis the season! Have fun discussing. Please "drink" responsively..intellectually! Otherwise...

What it does show though, is the intent to still acquire a star player with our picks and players.

All it would take is for the guy in charge of Chicago, Indiana, Sacramento to see Fultz or Ball or Smith as their franchise player and then Butler, George, Cousins becomes available for a top 3, which I think McDonough does for position (SF, PF, C upgrade) and results (playoffs ASAP).

If there's any truth to the rumor. But that's probably what you meant without stating.

If we were to trade for Cousins, I would expect it to be in the offseason where, as some have mentioned, the Suns would have a higher pick than if we were to get Cousins now.
I'm sure if we offered them Our first, both of Miamis, Chriss, and Booker, they wouldn't balk, but since that'll never happen (thankfully), it'd have to be something after the season.

I don't think we'll need to give up the farm to get him like some are suggesting. To my mind, the "farm" is both MIA picks and Bender. Because Chriss isn't going anywhere - believe that.

Len, TJ, PHX '17, MIA '18/19

To my mind, the questions are, can we keep Bender? Can we keep MIA '21? Can anyone beat that package as it stands without those assets? I'm not sure about these things. If Boston isn't willing to trade one of the BKN picks, we probably don't have much competition for Cousins. Plus, Vivek Ranadive owns that team, so who knows what they're thinking.

There may have been talks, and McD may feel his job is on the line, but there has been no indication that Sac wants to trade him. Maybe after their 5 game losing streak they feel their playoff hopes are gone and they should rebuild but I think Cousins wants that enormous extension. I can guarantee that they would want Booker, Warren, our unprotected first and more picks/swaps though at least...not sure why they would want a big with Skal, WCS, Papa and Koufos.
