Any thoughts on Yoeli Childs as a mid to late 2nd round candidate for backup 3/4 and (Oubre insurance) He's putting up pretty impressive stats. Definitely has to improve his free throw percentage a whole lot. But he's still very solid, poised and athletic. He's likely going to be a late 2nd to possibly undrafted prospect. But I think he still looks solid, And has a bit of " Brandon Clarke to his game athletically. He'd be a low risk/ high reward prospect to take a flier on. :dontknow:

Didnt we give up our second round pick for this coming draft?

We've never purchased a second rounder under Sarver, but this year, a few teams hold a pile of second rounders, so there should be plenty of selling on draft night. If we like a guy, we should go get him. We need third stringers all along the front line.

You're absolutely right on that man. However, As everyone seems to be down on this draft, I just figure that it might be fairly cheap to purchase a 2nd round pick, Or at least follow and possibly offer a partial contract to a player that may go undrafted ultimately. After all, We do absolutely need more depth and kore talent througjout our roster in order to bolster our core. And to give us added insurance against further injuries and unforeseen calamities that apparently plague this team.

We don't need more 2nd round picks, what we need is to package all the ones we have left with players we want to get rid of! I'm sure someone will take Oubre off our hands for a 2nd rounder! Maybe if we throw in a 1st rounder we can even get rid of Rubio!

Well, As of right now, We don't really have any. We've already traded away our 2020 AND our 2021 2nds. And as we are all aware, The 2nd round is wherein ( IF you do actual scouting) can find hidden gems, and high potential or productive players on the cheap. The problem for us has always been our really poor attempts at doing actual in depth scouting to properly identify these quality players that could have very easily helped our bench depth. Which of course was seriously exposed this season so far. I'm interested in these hidden gems, As they'd be low risk/ high reward players to take a chance on, without any real significant detriment to our plans going forward.

However, Should one or two of these players breakout, Or show good production, Then they become valuable trade chips in our efforts to secure a star in a trade. Also, it's always important to remember that currently, inexpensive and non guaranteed contracts are viewed by many teams as high value inclusionary pieces in trades, Wherein the opposing teams have potential cap restrictions or salary resuction interests. In that respect, these 2nd round players have premium value to us, to help us replenish our expended trade assets, As well as adding greater depth to our roster in event of injuries.

Finally, I am of course open to trading Oubre, And/or possibly Rubio, IF it returns us a player of greater value and increased talent. Maybe an all star or fringe all star player. Or someone with at least that level of potential. My preference being a Markannen, Or even a gordon, In the right scenario. But IF our players currently have such poor value that we'd actually have to attach more draft assets just to move them, Then that's just a bad deal for us all around. At that point, Just don't resign them, And look to use the cap space to sign actual better players with more talent and production. But we shouldn't be looking to attach any more potential assets, Just to move on from past mistakes. That's just us going in circles really. And thusly never making any real tangible progress.

We need to stop making poor decisions, start scouting ( and staffing well), diligently be acquiring low cost assets with high potential, and use our cap space to be signing quality productive and consistent veteran free agents, No more signing bargain bin cast offs' and leftovers in free agency. The overall quality and perception of our franchise will be directly reflected in these very decisions we make. And the draft should be used to PROPERLY acquire and DEVELOP these tradeable assets to be used in trades for our targeted potential allstar vets, To hopefully help us reach that next level. :D

Brightside of not having a scouting department, no need to worry about the coronavirus!

I actually like this comparison video:

 How could you not want to add him to your team for defensive switchability.

I really like Ibou Danko Badji the most out of this group. He's easily got the greatest potential to be an elite player.

Ibou Badji-
A 7'1 center with a 7'8 wingspan, and crazy athleticism and fluidity of movement. He's going to be an absolute game changer on the defensive end of the floor.

https://www.thestepien.com/2019/07/12/notes-fiba-u19-world-cup/

*** He could be developed to play next to Ayton at the 4 defensively. Or even better, We have Ayton further develop his ball handling and perimeter game this offseason, And then play them side by side as an unstoppable offensive/ defensive "Twin Towers" duo.

BenedictMathurin-
At 6'6, Pretty athletic. Has an ok perimeter game, And is aggressive. But is likely more or less a homeless man's Russell Westbrook.

Joshua Giddey-
At 6'7, A intriguing small forward. He's got a little bit of Peja ( perimetershooting), and a little bit of Hedo ( ball handling/ passing) to his game. He's not very athletic, But still has a pretty smoooth and fluid game.

Mohave King-
A 6'5 - 6'6 shooting guard with decent but not great athleticism. He's a knockdown/ movement shooter and excels as a C+S shooter mostly. His game is really a mix of a poor man's Booker and a splash of Jamal Crawford. He's decent, But has a fair amount of further development needed in order to take his game to the next level.

With it being a shallow draft, this is actually the exact opposite of what I'd expect. You'd think guys would still relish the greater chance of being drafted based on workouts.

I watched a bit of Tyler Bey the other night. I think people are underrating his NBA scoring potential. I think he'd fit in great here next to Mikal. Don't know why he's so unheralded. I gotta put him above Paul Reed. Can't draft based on position. I'd feel very comfortable selecting him with our pick.

This kid is really interesting! He's 6'3, He's poised, he's got solid, crafty playmaking skills, decent shooting mechanics, solid intangibles and relentless on ball defensive tenacity. What are everyone's thoughts on him as a potential late 2nd to undrafted option to possibly bring in?

Yam Madar:
https://www.nbascoutinglive.com/yam-madar-scouting-report/ . He's could be another hidden gem that is slated to go 2nd round to undrafted. And could potentially become anotther solid, low cost depth option for our bench in this upcoming 2020 draft.
