The moves seem definitive (I don't know why) and calculated whereas before everything just always seemed so chaotic and confused. The timing just seems better and more "normal". We got a good gm early. He quickly got a reasonable choice for hc and locked him down.

Something about it all just feels much more controlled and proactive.

Peace out Lindsey!!! I don't know a ton about coaching in the nba but that dude was straight garbage

This.

Plus: we don't really care right? As long as Hornacek commits to playing young players to develop them, Dragic is fine with him... whatever. Give Hornacek a shot. At least he is a popular Phoenix figure. Maybe he has a clear bball vision that relates to the one the new Suns GM has; that's enough for me. He still has some assistant coaches to appoint and they can also help develop our new assets.

It's not all that bad. This seems deliberate and I'm fine with it.

Yeah I really do not care about who the coach is at this point. Good for Horny to get the job and hope he exceeds, excels, and helps develop our young talent.

I don't see why we didn't go with Grant Hill rather than Hornacek.

Good move.

Like others said, at least it aint Lindsay Hunter.

Just because we interviewed higher profile guys, doesnt mean they neccessarily want the job either...... I mean, who wants to inherit a crap roster like ours?

Lukewarm on this decision only due to Horney's small body of work. But if McD approves then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Well I've been talking about Hornacek as lead assistant for three years now. I wasn't expecting him to be named head coach though. I'm interested to see if my hope was a good idea, or not ready yet. Now if they grab Olajuwon as a bigs coach,I'm going to poop my pants. :o

Seems like a genuinely nice guy. A guy you could have a beer with.

Not sure how well that translates into NBA coaching, but, I wish him the best success.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I am very pleased with this hire. He is very bright and was extremely popular here. He is the son of a coach and has been coaching since 2007 as a special assistant to help Utah players with shooting. Even though he has only 2 years as a full time assistant, it is plenty for what he faces here.

The other candidates being considered might have had more coaching experience, but there is no evidence they were any better candidates or more available.

I don't know much about him. I just hope hes giving a realistic chance to develop some of these guys and we don't hire fire with 1 year of work

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

Wish he would have stayed here and taken over when Corbin left..

I think it was a good move for you guys, he has helped a few players on the Jazz.

I believe its a great signing and hopefully the players listen to him and respect him. Horny could be like Mark Jackson and make us play solid defense.

They need to let him work knowing that the team will suck anyway, with him, without him even with Phil Jackson.

I hope they give him confidence and time, at least 3 years.

Jeff Hornacek a Good Fit for Phoenix Suns

Utah Jazz assistant coach Jeff Hornacek could have a "head" in his title by the end of the week.

According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, Hornacek recently met with the Phoenix Suns and has emerged as the leading candidate for their head coaching position.

This, of course, is bad news for Jazz fans and great news for Suns supporters.

Hornacek, whose No. 14 hangs in the rafters at EnergySolutions Arena, obviously knows how to play the game. But he can also teach it.

As an assistant with the Jazz, Horny has helped several players improve their shooting technique. In fact, thanks to Coach Hornacek, Alec Burks went from shooting 29.2 percent from behind the arc in college to 35.0 as a pro.

Likewise, Gordon Hayward was able to increase his 3-point shooting percentage from 34.6 in 2011-12 to 41.5 this past season.

"Having a great shooter like that work with me helped a lot," Hayward said. "Not just with mechanics, but with my confidence."

Confidence is probably the biggest reason Hornacek is the frontrunner for the Phoenix job.

With six first-round picks over the next three years, the Suns will need someone who can help them instill self-assurance in their rookies.

Another reason new general manager Ryan McDonough may bring Hornacek to Planet Orange is the fact that it was once a home for him.

Hornacek started his career in the desert, and thanks to six solid seasons in purple and orange -- he averaged 20.1 points, 5.1 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 1991-92 -- he's still a popular figure in the Phoenix area.

Perhaps Horny can fix Marshall's jumper

I was genuinely happy when I had heard that we had made Horny our head coach.

He might be able to fix his jumper, but nothing can help his athleticism. :(

What im more interested in is i wonder what he could do with Oladipo...........

Head coach doesnt matter until the suns build up their core talent.
