Dude is young with lots to learn, hopefully he will get there and bump someone out of rotation. It's really all up to him. If it were me, I would be shooting every chance I had, and before bed every night I would choose a great guard and watch game footage of them. Then if I was lucky enough to get into a game, I would apply what I learned. That game time could be DLeague time as well. All out hustle will get you places in this league. You have that with a decent BBIQ, and you should easily crack a rotation with some skills.
