THIS.

Bledsoe and Keef are now our "oldest" "young stars". Each one of them has issues (Bledsoe = knee and motivation) (Keef = attitude and temper).

If we can package them to NYK or PHILLY for either Okafor or Pozingis...WHY NOT?

Might as well load up on youth and do a TRUE tank job.

IMO, with Knight in team we don't have much/anything to loose trading Bledsoe. The trouble is that it is very unlikely that package consisting of him and Keef will pass through. And also, there's that question should we do it for youngsters like above mentioned Okafor/Porzingis/Randle/Russell (my favorite, i can see him as a long term leader of our offense) or for experienced, closed book players. The first inevitably leads to more time PO irrelevancy developing the potential, and the second means struggle to reach 7th, 8th seed. Even if we manage to do that, i don't see the point ending like Pelicans this season. We are just too far from contending team even with star like Love on our roster.
From my point of view, trade for young talent, and if there is something you can do in FA, do it.

As expected.

If you can't get All-Stars, you try to get the next ones for less money to compensate for risk.

I'm ok with this if it leads to trading Bledsoe for an upgrade in talent.

Having that much tied up (sure, both are potentially underpriced once the cap explodes) in an undersized back-court is a worry - especially when neither guy is (yet!) a star player. I'm fine with having either paid LESS than what Chandler Parsons is on, and probably $4m - $5m less annually than what Dragic will likely get.

Favors was meant to be available on draft night - I think the Markieff, a protected pick and maybe Goodwin could get him. Markieff would fit perfectly next to Gobert and Hayward. Only problem is he doesn't have the range you'd like on his jumper, so pairing him with Len might not work?

Anyway, if we got Favors...I would send Bledsoe to NY for Melo.

Bledsoe + Tucker + Mook for Melo + Larkin gets us that elite scoring star that we haven't had since Amare as well as a pesky defensive backup PG.

Re-sign Wright 3yr $20m. GGreen 2yr $10m. Both were good solid vets who can contribute as starters in a pinch as well as rotational 20-25min guys.

Len
Favors
Melo
FA
Knight
----
Wright
FA - a vet banger Acy or one with some range like Darrell Arthur or Amir Johnson - both good locker-room guys but both would get more than we could offer! Teletovic is a guy I'd be looking at too if he checked out with the medical staff.
Granger
GGreen
Larkin
Warren
Booker

Curious what Jeremy Lin is going to get - he's gotten slammed last couple of years but he's got ideal size for a 6th man combo guard role, I'd be fine with him here on the MLE.

Could probably land a vet FA SG on the cheap like Gary Neal, Dudley or Brandon Rush? Gerald Green too erratic, but I like him off the bench for the right price. Wes Matthews would be awesome but too expensive obviously, same with Danny Green and Khris Middleton. I'd go for Belinelli personally - championship experience, underrated defender and absolute knockdown 3pt guy who would be a good mentor/stopgap until Booker is ready.

Dream big. haha.

If the Lakers strike out on free agents and role with Clarkson/80yearoldKobe/SwaggyP/Randle/Hill with DAR coming off the bench or even taking over for Kobe, the Lakers will have another horrible season and Philly could still snag a top pick.

We have not won the trade yet.

Even if they add Love (unlikely) or LMA, I still don't see them making the playoffs.

They don't need to make the playoffs to miss out on a top 8 pick, and the lottery odds are determined by record so even a low seed in the west doesn't mean a good pick with all the crappy eastern conf teams.

And I don't buy the Lakers tanking the season with all their free cap space, especially with Kobe there. Every time the Lakers have free cap space they wind up getting big names.

I thought you could only extend 1 rookie for 5 year deal, which we used on Bledsoe.

Same reason why Love left, after only getting 4 when Rubio got 5.

It's probably one per offseason.

Surprised this wasn't mentioned (in this thread at least):

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine · 9h9 hours ago
That Suns will seriously explore their Eric Bledsoe trade options if they indeed strikes the deal w/B-Knight that @GeryWoelfel is reporting

Here's my thinking, when the cap goes up Bledsoe and Knight will both be on fairly reasonable (read: tradeable) contracts. This year is the final audition of the 2-PG backcourt, if both ball out and we can land an All-Star calibre big through FA, trade or draft, without surrendering one of the two, then we roll as we are.

If it doesn't work, then one of Bledsoe or Knight will be the cornerstone of a trade package to bring in that All-Star calibre big man next offseason, or in January whenever the determination is made as to whether he pairing is a success or not. This is McD playing the long game and having multiple viable avenues to pursue to make the Suns a playoff team by 2016.

As has been stated, this is a risky deal, but either or both may look tempting at the trade deadline or next offseason if they play well this season. If Bledsoe is traded this summer, this deal looks better.

I think it's an overpay, but if that's what the market dictated then we didn't have much choice as we needed to keep him and not lose him for nothing. I like the guy but as a player he hasn't impressed me in the least, and yes, I'm aware he was a near all star in the East. I just personally don't see anything about his game that makes me think he's going to be a star in a few years. I hope I'm wrong.

Oh and also, please trade the Morris twins.

Slight overpay right this second. Just wait for the awful contracts on July 1 :D

1 5-year rookie max extension with max raises. Neither Bledsoe's or Knight's is that.

Knight is a nice player... But makes you think Thomas and his 20/6 are the true bargain contract at 7 million. 6 inch height difference doubles the salary wow.

Why don't we just wait until he gets something from someone?

What's the biggest deal he could get - and who from? Seems like we're potentially overspending for no reason at all - is this so McD somehow saves face?

a max?

or a similar amount of money but for two years with a player option?

there are some dumb teams with cap space this year.

everyone has cap space next year. so anyone with cap space this yr is going to use it.

besides philly because the plan.

I think it's a combo of "we have to lock him down after cashing in our chips for him" and "let's not repeat last year's dragged-out Bledsoe situation". Might as well get one thing settled. Hopefully he'll wait for us to go after the bigger FAs and then we can re-sign him using his bird rights.

Not sold on BKnight as our PG of the future. Also think this knee-jerk " This means Bled is on the outs" reaction is unfounded

So depressing being a suns fan these days.
I hope we don't go into the season carrying Knight and Bledsoe.
