Curious, are you a fan of Bender, Chriss, the Suns, or just a general fan watching whatever game is on? In any case, good to have you here.

I'm here to see how the Suns develop both rookies. I like following young teams with prospects to see how teams either put them in positions to succeed or fail them organizationally. It's how I became a fan of the Raptors, and occasionally follow the Wolves, Jazz, Suns, Nuggets.

Don't hate me but my impressions so far... right now it looks like Suns are more invested in making sure Chriss is comfortable than Bender, who imo should never be playing the 3 as it basically negates all his advantages. Plus he's just being parked in the corner as a floor spacer. Not the way to put a guy in spots where he's comfortable playing his game.

Though that could be because Chriss is more ready to be a finisher at this stage, and that's what the Suns need with a guard-heavy offensive style. Bender's game is more complementary/playmaking and I'm not sure where that fits on this team.

All opinions welcome. I don't think ideally they want him at the 3, but with his ability of perimeter D and ball handling he can do it better than Chriss for now, particularly on defense. I think they basically are interchangeable between those positions. Eventually if they have enough muscle, either could probably play the 5 as well, as they can both likely protect the rim.

Chriss is going to be a star.

He's got the bounce and the quickness to really be a flat out star.

So fast...

You should take the Max to Mary's Club off of Broadway when the games over.

Chriss with a lot of usage so far (15 FGA last game), so he'll look better than Bender. Until the team figure out how to use Bender offensively aside from being a floor spacer, Chriss will get more of the fan hype (and thus more Bender bust talk).

Sorta want to see some 3/5 or 3/4 PnR with Bender. Also some Elbow DHO/Handoff stuff. Occasional high post touch like how they're using Chriss. Suns aren't even beginning to tap into Bender's offensive skills - dude isn't as lost as he seems, he's just an afterthought.

Would like to see Bender handle the ball himself after he gets the rebound. Right now we're using him as if he's Jon Leuer. Hes capable of so much more

I don't like this ulis, barbosa, knight line up. Knight is the odd man out..

it's not just his usage, he's literally everywhere and isn't shying away from the moment either, it's unbelievable.

^^ Chriss certainly has looked more comfortable out there than Bender thus far. His combo of size/skills appear much more easily translatable to the NBA game. I think he fits a position much easier and thus is easier to develop.

Bender to me is a SF in a big man's frame, which is a tough thing to work with when your team is already developing a PG/SG/SF/PF/C. He's a bit like Kirilenko in that he's a thin, mobile big, and his D is much further ahead of his O. Will be interesting to see how he grows over the next few seasons, and how he is utilised.

Bender just shut down that Portland guard's dribble. Mccollum I think it was. Impressive for a 7'1 guy

Now you have to spot Qwigglez somewhere behind the Blazers bench in Suns gear.

Yes, I have felt Chriss would get the hype from impressive athleticism, finishing and offense, but Bender would go unnoticed for the little things he provides, which are important. Defense is important and he is much better at it. He is just going to take more time offensively, but I don't think he will necessarily ever get to Chriss' offensive level. I'm excited for both as they have very different strengths (though some of the same weaknesses like rebounding and fouling).

Bender looks further along defensively and Chriss more so offensively. Both show what they are capable of, Benders game is a little harder to mold but he needs to find something on offense to specialize in at first
