Re: Davon Reed Thread
I am chugging the Davon Reed kool-aid. Huge wingspan, projects as a great defender. Already a great shooter. Not many weaknesses im his game. I think his ceiling may be higher than we all think too. Sure he is not the quickest but with this guy's great attitude, he could be one of those second round picks where years later everyone is groaning about passing on him. Worst case he will be a great three and D player for 10+ years.

Re: Davon Reed Thread
I think Davon will be a nice rotation player and I like drafting guys like him in the 2nd round as a drafting philosophy. When you look at the price 3+D guys are going in the RFA-market, it feels like a good idea to pick a senior who´s ready to contribute right away, those bargain rookie deal years will be really valuable.

Re: Davon Reed Thread
So I have a question here, this is projecting but let us assume this possible scenario for next season; (even if unlikely)
- Davon Reed shows us very quickly that he provides elite shooting and multi-positional lock-down defense in the NBA, basically shorter Kris Middleton
In this case, that's not someone you want coming off the bench long-term. So where does he fit in the starting line-up?
Obviously he's a SF, but can he play shooting guard long-term? No one wants to send Jackson to the bench (long-term at least), so let's keep Jackson and Reed in the starting line up, obviously with Booker.
Can we run this lineup in the future? Putting the ball in Booker's hands Harden-esque with Reed slotting at SG?
Booker
Reed
Jackson
Chriss
Bender
That lineup gives you some real good defense and shooting. But hinges on Booker's defense and Reed's quickness to guard smaller players, since I have no doubt his energy and giant wingspan could even allow him to guard some modern PF's
Obviously, who cares, just come off the bench. But can he fit with our other players in the starting line up?

He looks kind of slow to me. Gonna have to see him in the actual NBA before I get hyped.

I'm excited for Davon. I see him as basically a taller Wesley Matthews, and would love it if he became that kind of player for us.

Re: Davon Reed Thread
Reed seems to be one of those solid players that gives your team stability. He can shoot, plays good D, has long arms, passes the ball, does not have a huge ego, but plays with a little edge. He might not have the foot speed that other players do, but his wing span and smarts make up for it somewhat. He is a hustle award type guy. He also knows how to use those long arms and body position to get shots off in traffic. His shot looks effortless and comfortable.
Not a star, but easily a fan favorite. Could be a Majerle type of player.

That sucks. We love guards with meniscus issues.

Sucks to hear about his knee, I was looking forward to see him play early this season. If he recovers well, he may not get into a grove until the season ends. But we got Peter Jok!
Rotations might be tight this season.

Jok better make the team over Elijah effing Millsap.

Didn't the NBA extend the rosters to 17 this season? With all our guard injuries, I could see them both staying with the team, most likely playing a lot with NAZ.

That is why Peter Jok is on the roster.
Reed is out for a looong time.

Re: Davon Reed Thread
More Derrick Jones Jr to back up Booker. Disappointed about Rees, but excited to see more Airplane Mode

I'd go with Jackson over Jones Jr.

Any news on how he injured his knee? Training camp/official team workouts haven't started yet iirc.
