We need to find a young point guard of the future.

Kerrsed wrote:Trade 1: PHX/OKC/PHI
Suns get: Noel/Landry
Thunder get: Chandler/Tucker
Sixers get: Kanter

Thunder get a more veteran presence and defense for their playoff run.

Sixers get a more offensive PF/C to put next to Okafore/Embiid. Kanter is a better rebounder and a better scorer (62%FG & 92%FT over the past 5 games) than Noel.

Suns get a more defensive PF/C

Trade 2: PHX/SAC
Suns get: Cousins/Gay
Kings get: Knight/Len/Warren/Mirza/Suns 1st (top 3 protected)

Kings rebuild while dumping Gay. Knight takes over for when Rondo leaves seeking a big contract in the offseason, Len/Warren give them some young talented pieces to build around (along with our pick), Mirza's expiring helps dump Gay's salary.

Suns get Cousins our new franchise star and Gay who still has some juice left in the tank.

Trade 3: PHX/TOR
Suns get: Biyombo/Johnson
Raptors get: MORRIS!!!!

After all 3 trades:

Bledsoe/Price
Booker/Goodwin/Weems
Gay/Johnson/
Cousins/Leuer/Landry
Noel/Biyombo/

That first trade doesn't really make sense, fit wise. Chandler isn't going to give OKC anything that Steven Adams already doesn't. Kanter at least gives them a big that can put up 20 points on any given night. And PHI has no need for Kanter when they have the same player in Okafor on a cheaper deal.

Baze sticks out to me as a McD type of player and the type of guy that McD would happily spend oodles of money on. Athletic, inconsistent with a fair bit of potential. And he's a more traditional 2 guard than anyone we have sans Booker.

Considering that the Suns have Knight, Booker, Goodwin, Weems and Bogdanovic (coming next season), I'm not sure if spending big money on a SG is the right thing to do.

Under Stern, absolutely. Some truly ridiculous things happened under Stern's dictatorship.

Silver doesn't seem to be corrupt yet. The Lakers could have gotten #1 last year but didn't. The Knicks could have got #1 last year but didn't. Small market Minnesota got #1.

Great then another perceived small market (Phoenix) can get it this year and pick Simmons ;)

Regarding Bazelmore...

Suns already have their Bazelmore... He wears 20.

Goodwin...

Suns new coach just needs to give him time in the court.

The key difference being Baze actually improved as a shooter and shoots 40% from 3 and 86% from the line.

I agree, I don't think we need to spend there but he strikes me as a McD player.

We're gonna be neck and neck with the Lakers now for a spot in the bottom 5.

Winning the lottery would give us Simmons but if we had kept the Laker pick, we wouldn't even need to win the lottery to get him. We'd just need a bit of luck from the lottery gods to push the Lakers out to #4 or #5.

Then combine the #4 or #5 pick along with our pick (#3-#7) and we'd be able to put a damn good offer on the table for the #1 pick.

Philly would probably trade #1 for #3 and #5 in a heartbeat. LOL.

:banghead:

They would not. Ben Simmons is the lone shining star of the top of this draft. Pick #4 or 5 in this draft simply isn't worth all that much.

Why is the knight trade looking bad?? It's good to have a pg running our system, would you prefer to see ronnie running the show?
I like knight and think he's by far our Best Player right now.

Just trade morris for a low Post presence who can work with his back to the Basket, Hard nosed defender..

Already mentioned in the draft thread by me along with a video....any potential draft pick talk should go there.

An effort to get Bobby Portis on this team. Chi has been searching for a contributor in the 3 spot for years now, ever since they were contenders. New Orleans meanwhile is looking for a jolt to start their season. For us, this trade is in reaction to Eric Bledsoe going out for the season. This is a blow-up tank move that will hopefully set us up for Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram.

Suns trade:
Chandler/Morris/Tucker to NOLA
Suns receive:
Portis/Dunleavy/Bairstow/Asik/Hinrich/Gee

NOLA trade:
Tyreke Evans to CHI, Gee/Asik to PHX
NOLA receive:
Chander/Morris/Tucker

CHI trade:
Portis/Dunleavy/Bairstow/Hinrich to PHX
CHI receive:
Tyreke Evans

The Thunder absolutely clean up in that trade. You could make a real argument that Jones is better than Kanter on his own.

Looks like the Pelicans win that trade. I don't like taking on Asik's contract just to get Portis. I don't think the Bulls need Evans anyway so probably not a good trade scenario.

As crazy as it sounds, if we miss out on the top 3, PG might be the way to go (at this point), unless you believe in Skal Labissiere

If we want a pure passer, who also gets a crazy amount of steals, and can block shots, look no further than...

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/61804/kris-dunn

If we want another young guy from Kentucky who shoots better but doesn't seem to be as good of a passer, we can go with..

I like Dunn a lot, but our fan base would hate him imo. He's a willing passer, but far from pass-first. He's an explosive scorer first and foremost, and he takes (and makes) difficult shots. I mean, just look at the difficulty of some of these shots:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnpRJhIz7_A

I like him. I don't know that he makes the most sense for us unless we move Knight or Bledsoe, despite being 5 years younger than Bledsoe. That said, I'll all for BPA. I just think people here will have a real problem with the way he plays given the hate Bledsoe and Knight get and the random trade desires for much worse, PGs who are truly pass-first (which only really happens today mostly when PGs can't score).

But, say we trade for Terrence Jones in the offseason. Then, we re-sign one of Leuer or Tele (preferably Leuer). At that point, we have the luxury to take a young PG as insurance for Bledsoe, particularly given the age gap. I will only be upset about taking a guy like Dunn if our offseason leaves us without a PF 24 and under who is legitimately playable.

What if we trade Knight to NO in the offseason for their 1st. It would essentially be a do-over for the Laker pick. NO should have the space with so many FA's, and we'd get a pick between 4-7 most likely. At the end of the day, we would've moved Plumlee and Ennis for nothing essentially, but Plumlee has not developed whatsoever in MIL and Ennis never plays still.
