Thinking ahead - Imagine if Gerald Green is with another team this season or next season, best believe he's dropping 50 on us in 20 mins.

So, regarding Green - what is better for the Suns as I don't believe it when Ryan says the team wants him back as somebody is giving him the MLE at worst - so
1) trade him at the deadline for an expiring contract or second round draft choice. if an expiring is even possible
2) keep him for the summer and do a sign and trade for the team willing to overpay. Suns probably get a draft pick and trade exception

Granted, he could also be included in a trade in three weeks or so to make the dollars work

I just know I don't see a scenario where Green is on the roster next year when guys like Zoran and Bullock and Warren and Ennis and.. draft picks - are around

1) He is already an expiring so trading for an expiring doesn't help. A second round pick is the best we could hope for. With a bench full of young players I'm not sure this is what we need.
2) A sign and trade might be the better option. I would guess a pick would not be in the deal. Basically we would get a trade exception.

Green is so over valued on this team. We didn't miss him at all last night against the Bulls. People can hoot and holler about his dunks and crazy azz threes but he is so, so, so, so weak on defense. PJ is our wing defender for the starting unit. We don't have anyone for the second unit and that is hurting us because both Marcus and Green are poor defenders.

Just to clarify, the reason I said for an expiring is the dollars still need to match the cap. So maybe a playoff bound team, though the Suns are playoff bound right now - would want Green and to trade for him,. they need to match salaries - and I doubt there is a player out there a team will give up for Green that has more value.

But yes, his value, is pretty nominal to me right now - and if its a second rounder, that's good. If they hold for the summer and see if there is an S&T of better value, that works too

To me, the optimum is to include him in with a bigger trade in three weeks. Thomas, the Morri, Plumlee, - open for business

As to me, this team is about Dragic and Bledsoe long term. Isiah has nice moments - but I think Bledsoe and Dragic are the better players. Thomas and Green minutes just take away from EB and the Dragon

Sounds about right on Green. Dragic, Bledsoe, and Len are definitely the future. I think Kief is showing his value after missing the last half of the Clippers game and sitting out the third quarter against the Bulls with two fouls. He is very clutch in the fourth quarter and I'm really not interested in seeing him traded. He's such a high value player on a very reasonable contract. If we are gonna make any moves before the deadline it should be Green and Plumlee for something. Just not sure what that something might be.

Sunsdeuce wrote:I'm not saying markeiff has DEFINITELY peaked @rebounding but there are no signs to indicate that he will be any better than a 7-8 rebounder per game (on his best season).

Great rebounders just have a knack for rebounding. It's just comes naturally to good/great rebounders. I just don't see markeiff having that "knack."

But you also have to take into account that Kieff, at 48 games this season, has already surpassed the total number of 3pt attempts in 81 games last season (115 this yr to 108 last yr). Kind of hard to be in a good position to rebound when parked beyond the arc more often than last year; then add in the fact that he's only decreased his rebounding avg by .1, that tells me he is actually becoming a better rebounder, even though he spends more time away from the basket. Limit his 3pt attempts/spacing-type activities, and he's likely a 8-9 rebound average, with probably a somewhat lower ppg avg--I'd venture a guess that were he to play more of a traditional PF/C 100% of the time, he'd likely be a 15pt/9reb type PF, along the lines of a Derrick Favors-type of PF, and I doubt many would complain about that. And yes, there are PFs that have more rebounds with higher 3pt attempts than Kieff (Ibaka, Sullinger, Milsap), so yes, he could stand to improve in the rebound department, I'm just saying that I think he is, albeit at a slower pace than we'd like, and why many on the board desire the 3 PFs I mentioned above, because yes, they would be an upgrade, but we could also downgrade very easily.

Jared Dudley a better shooter then green?
SMH  .

If so Jared Dudley is a better shooter then Curry.

Also Green this season has been much better about creating he penetrates and kicks out. He does get wild from time to time but he's a bench guy not a starter

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

No one respond to this please. I just want to clear up what I AM/was thinking/feeling/seeing/believing. I don't need anyone to make an inference for me.

I know the definition of a thug, that is why I posted it. Of course a thug has no color and it isn't a racially derogatory term per se, but I have noticed that the term is used very loosely when it comes to black athletes.

I agree with calling a thug a thug, no problem there....and that was precisely what I asked, call a thug a thug.

If I saw a guy chase some guy down and beat him up, I wouldn't say "hey look at that thug" unless he robbed him. I also wouldn't call a lawless drunk driver a thug even though he/she was committing a lawless crime by doing just that. I just associate thuggery with robbing, stealing, bullying to extort, mafioso or gang banging type stuff, but I guess I shouldn't expect people to use the term as I do.

BTW, people really have to learn the difference between generalizing, stereo-typing, prejudice, racist, and racism.

I'm all good fellas :D

Trade IT not Dragic!!

Man you tried to turn an argument over semantics into some race bullshiz. Don't tell us we need to learn the difference between words

No need to be indignant. Just to clarify, I was apologizing to all of the posters who do not use the word thug as a racial undertone (implicit) to describe black athletes, I was not apologizing to the ones who do.

Warriors fan here who is interested in Plum Dog. What will it take to get him? We have Justin Holiday, Festus Ezeli, Marreise Speights, late first round pick, Brandon Rush who expires next season....

I think at this point, we've added all the "depth" type players we need, so adding Dudley just doesn't seem worthy. What we need to do is take all of these assets we have and turn them into an upgrade as a starter to either our SG or PF position. It would be nice to have a really good SG to bring in with IT, when we give Dragic and EB a blow. And of course, the PF position as well. If we can find a guy that is at least as good as Kieff to either start in place of him, or give him a breather at times, I think our team goes from a borderline 8th seed, to a 5th/6th seed type team. Basically, an upgrade for Plumlee. So if we can turn Plumlee, Green, and one of our 1sts into a solid PF, we have to go for that. Then hopefully Warren and Bogdanovic can be the answer for us at SF and SG, respectively.

Another Warriors fan, I would post this here too, since a lot of guys like it:
Speights, Holiday, 2015 1st rounder for Green, Plumlee

What do you think?

No to Duds coming back, have seen enough of "the fastest hands in the league" slowest body, cant finish on the break, would rather have Green. And no way in hell we trade Plum in the division to a rival.... kick rocks!!

Sure, but really I'd like to find a way to get David Lee. Y'all were doing just as well without him. Anything that would excite you?

Yeah, 32-year old, unathletic backup big, who doesn't play any defense and makes $16M per year is exactly what the Suns need

I disagree. If he is healthy I think he'd be a great fit, he is a guaranteed 10 boards a game guy which we sorely need. He is great at offensive rebounding and scoring garbage points. He's also really smart which is something we don't seem to have an abundance of. I'm not sure what kind of leader he is, but he's a 10 year vet. His contract also expires after next season. It all depends on what it would cost us of course but basketball wise, a healthy Lee checks all our need boxes except for front court defense.

Some people just cant let former players go. They are infatuated with them. You will always find a poster or two that wants us to pick up Dudly or Amundson or Frye or Amare or Marion or Nash. Its sad. For some reason they cant just move on.

Well, when things work, it's not such a weird thing for fans to look back fondly on players that were here when **** worked.

Players come back to former teams *all* the time in sports.

I'd rather have Dudley over Green given the fact that Dudley played *much* smarter than Gerald Green does. But I'd rather have someone else entirely, all things considered.

Kieff doesn't play defense either, so why not pay double for Lee? At least he rebounds!

I don't understand most of the logic on this board.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

In regards to Kieff I think he'd best as a super sub off the bench like Taj Gibson is for the Bulls.

He's a good piece his contract is solid I'll keep him

I'd like to get Paul Millsap when he hits free agency Ideally and somehow shed some salaries to afford him and Dragic.

I realize to do that Thomas would probably have to go, we wouldn't resign Gerald Green, and maybe we can shed Miles Plumlee's contract as well to afford him

A starting 5 of

Bledsoe
Dragic
Tucker
Millsap
Len

Would do big things.

Anyone know Atlanta's cap situation if they can afford to keep him?

What do you think?

Change it from 2015 1st rd pick to unprotected 2016 1st rd pick and I'd jump on that easily. Is Holiday on a long contract?

Not sure if Marcus is tradable right now but if he gets this cleared up and the suns decide to break up the twins I'd call Chicago. They are our most obvious trade partner in a lot of ways.

They love mirotic but their window is short with Pau so maybe they would go for a Marcus green and either enis or a lotto protected 1st for mirotic and Mohammed or whatever other salary filler they want.

That deal makes them a better team this year and also adds a future asset in the pick or ennis.

For the suns it lands them a blue chip prospect who fits the system and clears some minutes for the young wings.
