Teodosic would have similar effect as Doncic passing wise and creating looks for others. Would be great for Igor to have a veteran like him helping teach

Booker actually has a great pull up shot accuracy so when defenders to block his path he just pulls up and nails a mid range..

Doncic will need that move to counter the blockade he will get in the NBA.

A smart PG than can penetrate and throw lobs/find shooters/hit floaters.

That means we are taking Ayton, right? Obviously conjecture.

A lot of chess being played. Sac says that so Luka doesn’t pull out, then drafts him. Could he really fall or a trade up?

Its not about him pulling out, he really cant. Its about him saying he wont come over for certain teams. No matter what he stays in the draft, so its not like the Kings (If that tweet is true) would say they dont want him to make him stay in.

bwoolf2 wrote:Well then why are we trying to draft and sign the most talented players if we dont need them to compete, lets just get a bunch of decent players that try real hard. How has that worked in professional sports over the course of history?

Oh and your right all of the best players stay in Europe.... my bad

You are not following the argument and you are missing a ton of other reasons why players who have enough talent to play in the NBA might not. You are building a strawman and fighting against it. Which is alright if you want to feel good about your position but not so good if you want to know what exactly is happening and why.

I never said the best players stay in Europe... most of the best go to the NBA. Some go and come back. Some don't go... the question is why... the answer is role, pay, family, etc. For example I have zero doubts there are teams that would love to have Sergio Lull for vet minimum contract or thereabout to be a role player on an NBA team. Why would he do that when he will be paid 2-3 times that in Europe, while being the star of his team and being close to his family and friends in one of the greatest cities in the world?

I also explicitly said that European teams don't have the high end talent that the NBA has. But you conveniently ignored that, too. I guess it's easier to argue against stuff I didn't say. What I said was that the top of the Euroleague teams will have no trouble beating the bottom feeders of the NBA ... for different reason. The high end talent on the bottom-feeders in most cases is either old and washed up and not caring anymore(Dudley, Chandler) or super young and inexperienced, with bodies not ready to compete, with mental part of the game still not having caught up with their skill and talent(Bender, Chriss, to some extent Booker, although he's already entering the higher end of NBA level talent). The best of Euro teams also are coached better and play much better team game. I'm sorry but it's true. You cannot convince me Real Madrid or Fenerbahce don't play better team ball and are not coached better than Jay Triano or Earl Watson lead Phoenix or JB Bickerstaff lead Memphis or Frank Vogel lead Orlando...

In other words - teams with inferior talent but built to compete right now with players in their physical, mental and skill prime with better coaching and better systems will beat teams with better talent that are not ready physically and/or mentally.

This is similar to why in the NBA itself some middling veteran teams that are in win now mode beat up on the young teams, even though if you had to guess the young team will have better chance to compete for titles in the long run.

Anything changes if he's still growing and will be 6'9"+ ? That's all speculation without measurements, but on every photo he looks extremely big.

There's different types of basketball players. Having no other way to describe it. The Athletes. The Skilled. The Intangibles. The Cerebral. And combinations of the above. Larry Bird; skilled, intangibles, cerebral. Kobe Bryant; athletes, skilled, cerebral. Jordan, Russell, Jabbar; all of the above.

My order of importance: 1. Skills. 2. IQ 3. Intangibles. 4. Athleticism.

I’m a little higher on Doncic due to the combination of skills, IQ and intangibles.

Its tough to put an order to it, because i know plenty of guys why had them in that order and...well....didnt last too long in the league due to not having the Athleticism.

Skills and IQ you can learn, but you cant learn athleticism!

Does a desire/drive count as intangibles ? Without mental strength all others are meaningless.

Also don't underestimate athleticism in a tough league(82 regular season games) as the NBA. All players in your list are great athletes, maybe with the exception of Bird.

Is Doncic really that unathletic for someone 6'8"+, 230+ lbs? This is 2 years old measurements in P3.
