Re: NBA Draft and NCAA Basketball
you can have 3 top 11 picks from the draft 2018, why dont you have a pick watch thread? that would be fun.

Could be, but if we re picking 5th I want all his medical records, I want him to take all the tests our doctors require, and then some.
A spinal disc surgery is really no good news for a professional (to be) basketball player.
Sucks for him, sucks for the league.

Harry Giles was considered the consensus no.1 and slipped to no.20

Different injuries. If GM's still expect him to be in the top 5, if his back checks out then my presumption is that the long-term prognosis of his particular injury is more positive than Giles's torn ACL in each knee and an MCL on the left.

I'm still sad about Giles. That dude was the real deal before the injuries.
Apparently this injury may not be as big a deal as I thought. Less serious than Embiid's.
I still prefer ayton, luka, Bagley, and probably bamba over him.

If Porter's back by predraft workouts and actually does them against other dudes and looks good this won't hurt him at all.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Embiid's back issues didn't require surgery IIRC. A 20 year old having season ending back surgery is scary.

I'll take Porter if we are on the outside of the top 5.

Caught the Alabama vs UT Arlington game today, gotta say I liked what I saw from Sexton. Kid has a knack for scoring the ball, brings good energy, and did a good job finding open shooters in the 2nd half (even though they didn't make many). Gonna keep tabs on him this year for sure.

Sexton looks like he's ok at everything without a standout skill while Duval is a great ball handler but terrible shooter.
I'd be surprised if either is our solution to starting PG.

I'm completely sold on Sexton. He has that Westbrook-like competitive fire which will make him great. 2nd best prospect behind Doncic for me.

I like Sexton and Duval with either the Miami or Bucks picks depending on where they end up. They may not work out, but we would have the luxury of judging them year 1 with a competent backup in Ulis. If they fail, there are FA options in 2019.

Also, if the Point Booker experiment continues to develop, we don't necessarily need a 1. We may be able to draft a wing instead with that pick and run Booker with the 1s and Ulis with the 2s.

Re: NBA Draft and NCAA Basketball
I will re-iterate that we need to drop to the bottom 5. If we successfully do that and end up with even Bamba, who I believe is the 5th best of that group, with just a little luck we could supplement a truly high upside big with one of the PGs (Sexton or Duval), and a damn good wing around the Bucks range or another big if we wanted to hedge Bamba (Knox, Diallo, Metu, Brown all projected to go around there). Not sure how the 2nd round would go if we took 3 americans in round 1. I would go with international prospects to stow away or trades for future picks in later years to balance things out.
And we'd still have the cap flexibility to improve. We'd need to make roster space, but that's a good problem in this scenario.

Also, apparently the Suns were at the tournament A&M was playing in, in which Robert Williams won MVP. He may be the dark horse to crack the top 5, though I would be pretty upset if we took him there (I like him, and am fine if we take him 6-12 range, but not over the current group. Just my opinion).

Re: NBA Draft and NCAA Basketball
Robert Wililams is interesting because of his athleticism and wingspan, it gives him huge defensive potential in the mould of Ibaka, Green, Leonard.
His limitation is that he can't shoot as a PF which limits him to Kenneth Faried.
Averages 14-10-2 per 30 minutes.

Not YOU, ntb, just, you know, fans generally.
I think you generally have two subsets of fans when it comes to this. Those who are into the draft and the prospects and have patience and don't judge too quickly and those who don't care about the draft, want to win now, are really impatient with draftees and young players and want to trade all our picks for immediate win now stars (and sometimes make it sound as if it's easy to do).

Nice game. Trier couldn't hit a 3 to save his life and then when he basically had to shoot them at the end he was just passing them up and dribbling inside as the clock was running out.
