I really don't want Book playing. I get it that players want to do it, but I wish he'd wait till the 2024 team if he wants to get his gold medal. That's only 3 yrs away-not too long of a wait.

Book wants to become two time champion in the span of a month. That would be great. Participating in a tournament where most teams have a great ball movement should be beneficial for his further development.

Him recruiting is the only really good part about this. Still, if we make the final and he plays in Toyko, he'll be going almost an entire year straight through for BB. NBA season starts in Oct and olympics end late Aug I think. That gives him basically a month to rest. W/E it's his choice and I guess if this leads to Tatum or Zion playing in PHX in 3/4 years I guess it's worth it.

Pretty cool!

It's amazing how similar players they are right now. When they came into the league they were quite different with Mikal being the 3 and D guy and Cam being the specialist shooter who had shaky D. Now both guys are good to great on defense, both are good shooters, both guys attack closeouts well now and both guys are solid cutters.

I think he stays here regardless. He picks up his $45 million option or we give him a longer contract. We c ould hope he keeps his cap hold and give him a wink wink 2 year $55 million deal the following summer if we were thinking 3/$100.

Spoiler:

It could be declining like like 28.5 then 26.5 as Ayton and Bridges' contracts are going up.

This might help us stay under the cap or give us space for a MLE signing in the future. Otherwise if we did like 3/$100 this offseason it would be around $33.5 million a year...and the final year might be more like $31.5 million if it was decreasing with max raises/declines at 8%.

The way I see it...

If we win the chip this season I hope that James Jones will bring back EXACTLY the same team for next season.

Not a tough thing to do because we have a lot of players under contract and we would just need to extend CP3 and sign Cam Payne to a long term contract.

Craig (BAE) and Moore, Galloway, Nader and Kaminsky ( all on minimum one year deals) are easy to bring back because they are not expensive players at all.

Then we can trade #29 for an early 2nd round pick (around #35) and a future 2n round pick.

With #35 we can sign on a two-way deal a rookie as a 17th player on our roster.
