He was always a cool cat and actually did really well in the minutes he got.

Doing well in Europe.

I do think the roster would be better served with someone like Napier though. We need insurance for a CP3 injury.

Damion Jones is a couple inches taller than Motley and definitely more of a pure C ...and that's what we need it.

An insurance guy at the 5 that can put some pressure on defenses as a lob finisher. Damion isn't good by any means, but Motley is even slightly worse than him.

Not sure why there are so many people interested in Dedmon. He got his money and then he basically said **** you to the Kings because he thought that he deserved an starting spot... are you kidding me? He would probably be a problem here. Not worthy.

In his opening four games as the starting center, Dedmon averaged 6.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.5 turnovers on 34.6% (9/26) from the field and 18.2% (2/11) from three. A subpar start to say the least, but players have bad stretches of games often and it could be written it off as an understandable adjustment period. Dedmon was benched in favor of Holmes, which plausibly would not have taken place if Bagley remained healthy. He would see barely four minutes of playing time in his fifth game, serving as a sign of what was to come.

Dedmon, in theory, needed Marvin Bagley and vice versa. Yet, Dedmon’s long ball never came around while he came off the bench throughout the following 17 games of the season. His turnovers remained a serious concern in notably sporadic minutes as well. By the time Bagley returned to play, Dedmon was regularly watching the entirety of games from the comfort of his front-row seat — recording 10 DNP-CD in 12 games, with the two outliers occurring during garbage time.

Dedmon chose to publicly express his discomfort to the fullest and was candid in his intentions, requesting out of Sacramento before the change of the calendar.

“I would like to be traded,” he said. “I haven’t been playing, so I would like to go somewhere where my talents are appreciated.”

This is really important. While I do think LeBron's best days as a defender are well behind him, I do like to see Bridges having the confidence to create for himself. That was something that was lacking from his game and he looks incredibly comfortable doing it in those clips. I never imagined Mikal ever being a major scoring option, but it looks like he can be if that continues.

Gobert now has the 3rd biggest contract in NBA history? I get his importance on defense, I honestly do. That's generally reserved for super stars of which he is decidedly not.

Wonder what Mitchell thinks about Gobert's contract... Can Mitchell play next too Booker?

Sucks about Williams, he is a nice backup C. Jeremy Lin would have been a nice pickup as well. And for everyone wanting Kaminsky back, I'd take Bender over him.

So our bigs are Ayton, Saric, Jones, Smith. We need a backup pronto.

Four guys to play just one position are not enough?

At PF we will play Crowder and Cam. Sporadically sometimes Bridges, Nader, Saric or Smith.

Smith isn't ready and Jones is really questionable.

I don't want Frank back. I was just saying if given the option between Frank and the current underwhelming end of bench bigs, Frank would probably be an upgrade. But... the Suns can do better than all of them.

Yeah, that is a bit nuts. I bit hot-takey question: would you rather have Gobert for 40 mill a season, or Whiteside for 2? I ask this knowing that Gobert is the best defensive C, surfire all-defense guy, while Whiteside is trash. But is Gobert worth 20 times more?
Maybe for the team who has him, doesn't want to make him mad by not signing him. Plus this way they have a big contract that they can flip for some other assets in 2-3 years if they don't pan out, and decide to retool. But it is nuts.

Sidenote: that's it for all the pundits who have been drooling over the 2021 FA class. Nobody in there worth a big contract, unless you want to throw 20+ mill to some 33 year old dude for the next 5 years...

If Gobert's contract **** the Jazz's long term options that contract will be good for our playoff/championship aspirations in a few years. They will retain Mitchell through RFA though and be able to go over the cap.

It's better to have the #15 roster spot open because that way we can adjust and sign whoever we really need after analysing a bit more our roster.

Imagine that CP3 or Payne has an injury that will put him out at least for a month...they will sign quickly a pure PG without disrupting the chemistry cutting (and paying) any player. They could sign Napier or Isaiah, for example.

The same can be said about having a big injury at other position or someone playing way worse than what was expected.

And if there are not injuries (hopefully) we can just sign whoever is available right before the playoffs that can help us to be a more rounded team. Non playoff teams will waived solid veteran players for sure.
