“He’s been probably our most consistent two-way player and our best scorer in terms of efficiency, and just being able to get a bucket to stop an opposing run or to start a run of our own in the halfcourt,” Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s Burns and Gambo.

Phoenix sees Warren’s return in view. McDonough hopes Warren can begin doing cardio and on-the-court workouts within the next week.

The team has not commented on the specifics of Warren’s head injury since he left after playing nine minutes against the Indiana Pacers on Nov. 18.

However, the flickering evidence of the team’s defensive improvements should be promising combined with the return of, arguably, their best perimeter stopper. Surprisingly, Warren’s improvements on the defensive end put him in that conversation.

“He’s up there among the league-leaders in terms of deflections and steals,” McDonough said of Warren, who is averaging 1.9 steals per game, a top-10 mark in the NBA. “We want to see how our team looks when we have everybody (healthy).”

Warren is back!
Suns forward T.J. Warren has begun his first activity since going out with illness and a head injury on Nov. 18.
Warren rejoined the team last week when it returned from the road trip. He took set shots after Wednesday’s shootaround.

“Nothing too strenuous,” Watson said. “He comes out and he’s here every day. Whenever he’s ready to play, he’s going to be right back to the T.J. that’s on the path to being one of the most improved in the NBA.”

What was wrong with him? Do we have to worry about reoccurring issues

We have no idea and the front office is being intentionally vague, which I find suspicious and frustrating.

I find it frustrating too although I don't know that I'm particularly suspicious about anything. I can't think of any reason they'd be secretive and misleading without good cause, I just can't think of the "cause". This is one of the strangest short term mysteries I can remember. I've run through a hundred possible scenarios trying to explain the way this went down and none of them seem credible to me. I just hope they fully explain it some day and I hope the explanation isn't something like "protecting him for an upcoming trade".

I'm pretty sure it does. I think during the initial Chris Bosh blood clot ordeal, the hospital in Miami got in hot water due to the leaks.

But in TJ's case, I don't know why they would hide anything. It sounds like the injury isn't serious or embarrassing, so why not just come out and tell us what is wrong?

HIPPA laws protect all people from having medical information shared without their consent. It doesn't matter if they are sports stars.
TJ would need to consent for the Suns to share any personal medical information. Either the Suns or TJ are deciding to stay hush hush on his ailment for whatever reason.

I would imagine that players have to sign HIPPA releases as part of their contracts. Otherwise injury lists would be a legal quagmire. My guess is that he got whatever injury he did get off court, and so they just don't want to deal with questions about it.

could it be depression? But him being due for a 15 plus million a year contract certainly shoukd make him more optimistic.

Concussion? Possibly.
Loose teeth from a collsion? Possibly.

Or Tucker being groomed for a trade?

Based on what's happened, I bet TJ is just a quiet/private guy and didn't want the public to know every last detail. Kinda silly and strange since it seems like it was not anything embarrassing or serious. But whatever.

I'm just glad he will be back on the floor soon. He's our best player and he was having a monster year.

T.J. Warren has been doing drill work on the court but he remains out with an unspecified minor head injury. This will be his eighth consecutive missed game.

An "injury" that takes you out for a month is not minor.

I hope that's not true unless its a blockbuster of sorts, but barring sniffing out any other reason, this "head injury" wreaks of a pre-trade shutdown.
