Dragan Bender, eh...

It's only preseason but alarms are going off in my head:

"This **** is doing it, isn't he? He's **** breaking out now" "He's breaking out now that he's off the team".

Would rather have him than Kaminsky big true.

I decided to watch the Mavs - Bucks game and completely forgot he's playing there, so was a bit surprised when he entered the game.

Hit 3/5 from 3, but still looks like the same player to me - too mechanical, hit the backboard on a 3, was blocked on a dunk attempt by a shorter player, nothing special on D. Scored some of those points in the last minutes, when he wouldn't even play in a game that counts.

All that, playing against the wet-dreams of Suns fans for him to turn into - Porzingis and Doncic. It's absurd how lucky those other teams were to draft such players when the Suns had to settle with Bender. He can stick in the league if keeps hitting 3s though, but still a good role player at best.

Can we at least wait until game 3 of the preseason before we confidently say what our entire season will look like, who we'll regret drafting, signing, trading, etc? Golly

We should wait at least 10 games into the regular season, and more importantly, how we improve throughout the season. This is still largely a development year for our players. Ayton's improvement, our rookies, Bridges, Oubre with off ball defensive awareness, and not being so streaky on offense. Hitting our 3s, how everyone meshes, whether Booker can really largely play off ball not leaving Rubio standing in the corner without a defender on him (since we went for him over making a move like Indy did for Brogdon, if he would have played for us), what the coaching looks like, if Saric can improve after his down year, etc.

So many questions and challenges and too many good teams in the West. Bad combination to win games.

That is why I would love to just improve 10 games over last season (from 19 to 29 wins). That would be a big step in the right direction.

Every game is gonna be tough. We play only a couple of times against the Hornets, who is the only really bad team in the league.

Yeah, I'll be happy with 30...it's just about seeing those improvement and not getting blown out, at least not often. Being interested in games and excited to see until the end.

It's funny we may sound a bit less gung ho than some but are two that will be watching and in every game thread regardless of what happens, and if things are not so great, many lose interest quickly.

I was going to watch that..had it steaming on my computer while watching the end of the Pelicans/Jazz game, which was great by the way...came down to the last play...Pels look really good.

But the stream froze so I switched to a movie. Had completely forgot about Bender...just kind of wanted to see how Porzingis looked playing off Doncic.

I watched both Mavs games with Porzingis and Doncic for the same reason. I didn't see any special connection on the floor between these two, but they will probably work on it in the future. The most noticeable thing is how 3PT trigger happy they are in preseason(maybe it changes in RS, maybe not). 32 3PFG combined in 2 games. Doncic trying to resemble Curry as soon as possible shooting 3s from almost half-court. That got me thinking again how different is FIBA from NBA play - no coach in Europe will let you shoot 5-6 3s with > 16s on the clock, which he did in those two games. It's safe to say now, Luka's game and character fit perfectly with NBA's star-oriented approach. Interesting stat for a rookie I learned during the game - he had the most touches in NBA after the ASB last season.

watched the pels vs jazz if Zion hits the midrange and 3 at an even average clip he is going to be devastating... as long as he stays healthy he is going to be dominant from day 1

You guys probably wont like it, and I feel like there are some on the "Bender is TRASH" side and others on the "We really mucked up his development side," but after three games, many of us on the Bucks board feel like we have something in Bender.

Pretty sure I read "soft" comments on your board. The most accurate you can have it.

There are people who think Khris Middleton is beyond garbage because he didn't drop 25 a night on 14m a season BEFORE his new deal so, yeah, you'll have that. We've got one of the most active boards on RealGM. You'll have differing opinions.

Pretty weird they are resting them when we are on NBATV and they are only nationally televised like twice a year.

Hopefully it’s not because we are the only game on tonight and they don’t want an embarrassment...

These three look like they need more time together to gel.

Yeah, and I really don't want to see Oubre as the #1 option taking 20+ shots. Though I guess he could use the practice.

I wonder if it's because Portland is also resting big names.

****, this is ridiculous. Resting guys who are 21 and 22 years old and are trying to understand what the hell is TEAM DEFENSE???

Come on, they need every game to try to improve and get some chemistry on both ends.

538 just came out with their new player projections. Messing around with it a bit, it looks like they have Bridges as our most valuable player.

Almost dropped $350 for tickets to sit behind the Suns bench. I anticipated this though, which is why I was waiting til the last second. Not even sure it's worth it to watch the game at all.

Return to Phoenix Suns
