Too bad we traded the Bucks first rounder this year (we got for Bledsoe) for Ty Jerome. I'd rather have Bane. I would rather them buy a pick to take Bane than spend the BAE too.

Yeah, and this is the problem with most fans. They are okay with Jones doing what he did last year because the team was better. The bulk of the roster Jones walked into was trash so it's easy to improve. Frank is maybe the worst player still in the league and Paul is great so this team will be better, but we don't come close to maximizing our assets and it's going to limit the ceiling for this team down the line. And that is entirely on Jones.

Jones got rid of worthless sh*theads like Jackson and brought in the first real PG in years with Rubio. I could care less about those 2nd round picks he gave up which would likely not have netted us anything. For some reason, many in our board think the only asset are players and draft picks when in fact winning and team culture/chemistry are very important assets.

This is devoid of all fact and reality. We could have simply CUT Josh Jackson and he would no longer be in our culture. Instead, we threw a 2nd out there to dump him, when reportedly we could have received a pick from a number of teams according to Lowe for him. So much so the trade was laughed at league-wide.

I'm no Jackson fan, but those 2nds could end up being good players. Many all-stars have gone in the 2nd round. Those picks get added to other picks and become guys who can help you via trade. The trade was malpractice level inexcusable, as is routinely taking guys 15 spots higher than any other team had them.

As I recall, we had to move him to have cap space for Rubio (after he acquired Baynes and a pick). We also received Jevon Carter in the trade. I could care less that Jones picks players that don't fit the media mocks. He has his own big board and takes the rookie he thinks helps the team.

I remember Gambo on the radio talking about us taking Jared Jeffries...this was AFTER Phil Weber told me they wanted Amare. I remember when he told me they wanted Amare I was a little surprised.

Amare was not the sought after prospect in the draft at all, Nene and wilcox were the ones fans wanted, even Melvin Ely and Haislip were ranked higher than Amare, there was a guy named something woods that was being compared to tmac as well.

Amare was projected to go to Phx. He might not have been consensus, but he was supposed to go within a few picks of us if we passed. Not quite the same as picking guys nobody has going in the next 15 picks.

Time to spend Robert. Change the narrative about being cheap.

No. We could've cut him and stretched it for Rubio. Or just traded him for any number of the teams Lowe spoke to who would've given up a pick for him, thus giving us collateral to get back into this draft.

The irony here is that going into the night many here would have been fine with Bane or Terry at 10. We are nearly 30 picks in and both of those guys are still on the board.

Chad Ford has him at #13 in his mock draft.

Lots of people were more than OK with Banes at #10. What if we end up buying him as a 2nd round pick? Does that change the narrative for some people? Like we got the guy you wanted and Smith who would have been long gone.

That would be nice if we didn't have to rely on Sarver of all people to buy it

Well he traded for CP3, and he will make the Suns way way way more money than they would have.

No doubt, like that there is no fear of ridicule!! Not letting these so called experts (same ones who praised our picks of Bender, Chriss, Jackson, Len, etc...), dictate his choice!!

Nope. I had Smith as a player I liked in the draft thread. If you think Smith is best take Smith. Just be smart enough to recognize he will be there 5-7 picks later and get the extra assets. Salary caps and extra picks matter.

We have no idea where Jalen might have gone or if anyone in that range wanted to trade up. You mentioned something about "being cute" earlier...trying to dick around and trade down a few spots and possibly miss the guy you want is "getting cute".

And as others have said, just because some draft sites made by guys sitting at home had guys going in certain ranges means nothing as to where they would actually go. Watching this...people should have learned that. Same with Brandon Clarke. In hindsight if we took him at 11 last year we could have said (now with hindsight).."Why the hell did we take him at 11 when we could have traded down to 20? What a waste of assets!"

GMs would have suspicions on what other teams needs, so if Bane is not on anyones radar in the first round, then teams who are interested can wait.

I strongly believe that a few teams mid lottery to top 20 could use Jalen Smith, particularly Boston... they probably signalling interest on other players waiting to nab Smith quietly... but James Jones smelt it and pulled the trigger (speculation on my side), but clearly Suns need a big man next to Ayton since Baynes and Diallo are out... Saric has an 11 inch vertical so he doesnt do the job the Suns need for a big... still very useful player though so I'm happy to keep Saric as he is the "new" Dudley.
