I completely understand what you are trying to say, but what about the other way around. Aren't these players competitors? If you watch many of the great players/teams interviews from the 80s,90s, and 2000s they always talk about with pride in how they beat these tough teams (ex: For bulls, the Knicks, celtics, sixers, pistons, lakers, etc or the Spurs going through Mavericks, Lakers, Suns, Rockets, etc). It would be a greater feat for them to do it through the western conference, and they would get a heck of a lot more props. Not sure if that matters to these guys, but just a thought.

One of these guys decided to join teams with the 2nd and 3rd best player (based on PER - not a perfect indicator but fair enough) in his conference at the time. Doesn't scream competitor to me.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Um to get a guy like LeBron who may retire as a top 5 player of all time and will be the best Sun of all time if he ever puts on a Suns jersey, you bend over backwards to get him. LeBron wants to call the shots? Do it. LeBron wants to drive Sarver's Lambo? Give him the keys and tell him to keep it. LeBron wants to coach the team? You let him. LeBron wants to live in Sarver's house and kick Sarver out? Good luck at finding your next mansion to live at Robert. LeBron wants to f**k Babby's daughter?

You get the point. If LeBron is at all interested in signing here, then you do whatever the hell he wants to get it done.

I don't think some people here just quite understand how good LeBron James is. Any team he is on instantly becomes a contender and the favorite to win the championship. Put him on the s**ty Sixers, they will make at least the conference finals next year. Same with the Bucks, Cavs, whoever.

Would he rather play with a team that consisted of himself, Carmelo, Bledsoe, Dragic, and Plumlee as the starters, with some rookies and a couple of vets on the bench. Or would Lebron rather play with something like this:

Bledsoe/Ennis
Dragic/Green/Goodwin
Lebron/Marcus Morris/Warren
Markieff Morris/maybe Frye?
Pau Gasol/Plumlee/Len

That team would be so much more of a complete team and incredibly deep. The 33.5 million of available cap space the Suns have right now should be enough to sign Lebron and Pau. The versatility that team would have would be incredible. He has to think more about how the Heat had no answer inside against the Spurs. They did not just lose to the Spurs, they got annihilated. Two or three superstars and very little else cannot do it alone. The Heat were honestly lucky to win two championships. If the Spurs did not miss that one free throw at the end of regulation in game 6 in 2013, the Heat would have lost three out of four years in the finals. They are 2-2 right now. Carmelo and Lebron are not power forwards, flat out. They can get away with it in the East, but in the West, you need big players to guard Duncan, Griffin, Dirk, Randolph, Love, and everyone else.

With Lebron and Pau, the Suns could play big or small. Play against big teams and start Plumlee and Pau. Play against small teams and start Markieff and Pau. A major weakness for the Heat was their lack of depth and with a team like this one, the Suns would be ten deep.

Do not get me wrong, if the only way Lebron comes here is with Carmelo, so be it. I would rather take my chances with them together than not. However, I think having an incredibly deep team with a true inside presence has a better chance of success than a team without that, obviously.

You do have to keep in mind though that if he stays in the East he has a near automatic chance of playing in the finals year after year due to the weak competition in the East.
The West is stacked with teams like the Suns winning nearly 50 games and still not being able to make it to the playoffs.

I hope it's part of smoke and mirrors by the McDonough regime.

IT MAKES SENSE to leak the Lebron story. Get national attention, get fans attention, get people talking, get the players to notice. Funny how it broke on a Sunday when all of us armchair quarterbacks are off work and drinking beet and talking sports with da boyz. Essentially the Suns have made their offer to Lebron before they can officially contact him on Tuesday.

It's also a long short that this happens, so we must have a backup free agent plan

IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE to sign a player like Hayward to a max deal. It's not like McDonough to overpay. McDonough doesn't overpay for players in terms of money (free agency) or trade.

IT MAKES SENSE to use the Hayward thing as misdirection so we can quietly target other free agents. (I hope I'm right about this because a Hayward/Frye/Plumlee front court can't defend or rebound)

(much like the Chicago sports quiz from SNL)

A. The Shot refers to:

1. MJ's shot against Cleveland in 1989.
2. Ray Allen's shot against the Spurs in 2013
3. Tim Thomas's shot against the Lakers in 2006.
4. Robert Horry throwing a towel at Danny Ainge's face in 1997

Correct Answer: 3, but 4 is also acceptable

B. The Most Valuable Jersey in Suns Collector's History:

1. Charles Barkley
2. Walter Davis
3. Elliot Perry
4. Alando Tucker

Correct Answer: 3, only if you have the matching high socks.

In all seriousness I doubt it happens, but who knows.

The Shot could also refer to Rex Chapman in Game 4 against Seattle in 1997 or Raja Bell in Game 6 against the Clippers in 2006. Just sayin.

Or Paxson's 3 over Ainge

In s**ty east conference? Mayby. But his team was crushed by the Spurs. Previous year he just barely win over Spurs. 2 years ago he win against inexperienced OKC and 3 years ago he was pretty easy defeated by Mavs.
LeBron is surely is good. But even he can't guarantee championship. Especially in west bloodbath.

Marc J.Spears: Lakers unrestricted free agent G Kent Bazemore could re-sign & expects interest from the Suns, source said. Warriors haven't shown interest.

I think he can surprise a ton of people if he has minutes and confidence...very good offensive player.

But that's the problem, he isn't going to get minutes.

I guy I think is a little underrated that nobody has talked about is is Spencer Hawes. He beats frye in every statistical category. He is actually a better 3 point shooter than frye and a hell of lot better rebounder. I wouldn't shock me if someone over pays for frye but it also wouldn't shock me if we could get hawes for real cheap.

Maybe I'm having flashbacks to that cavs game when he had a career first quarter but I think he would fit in nicely here.

I have talked about Hawes quite a bit and mentioned him at least 3 times in the past few days. I think only one person though (BobbieL?) mentioned/responded they wouldn't mind signing him if we lose Frye (so apparently no one else is interested in him. They are extremely similar players though, and Hawes had better number across the board last year in similar minutes.

It's false. Why would you leak you will give a guy the max before talking to him? What if he'd sign for a lot less? Utah would match even a max anyway though.

Doesn't matter. Zero downside. It''s like having another draft pick with nba experience. Even if he just practices with our team and/or plays in the D league he's an asset that could eventually turn out to be a really good player down the road. I trust McD if he likes him.

As tight lipped as this FO has been, any info leaked out that is not backed up by a confirmed nod of approval must first be thought of as misdirectional hearsay.

If there is merit to some of the rumors ... Hayward Deng Bazemore etc... Acquisitions that appear to cut into minutes slated to existing players, we as thinking fans ( some of us anyway :-p) need to acknowledge the possibility of trade opportunities being structured or already in place.

No doubt about it, our upcoming roster has a good chance to be 50% different
