Ulis looked like he was pissed. Went chasing that guy out of the hotel and into the street. Booker just watched and chased after them but Ulis was heated

Wendall Carter might be the best player of those 3.

Yeah, probably, but I expect him to come of the bench on his rookie season.

Some of you have mentioned that our summer league team seemed to have trouble getting Ayton the ball. And I agree.

The problem is that 2 of our 3 probable point guards (Okobo and Shaq) were a big part of this problem. Many of their passes were picked off.

The other BIGGER problem is that our probable starting point guard (Brandon Knight) has a HUGE weakness throwing lobs, and making passes in traffic. I mean...it's almost comically bad. Knight only seems capable of making a basic chest pass when the coast is clear.

So again, I bring up the fact that we let Payton and Ulis go. Payton would have been cheap and was an excellent passer. Ulis played very well when he was not injured and was a great floor general.

I HATE HATE HATE the fact that we let two cheap point guards go who really have as much potential as anyone. A Knight/Payton competition for the starting spot would have been great with the loser competing against Ulis for backup duty.

Let's not forget that the PG we cut (Ulis) beat out our new starting PG (Knight) for backup duty FAIR and SQUARE in his ROOKIE year.

And don't tell me about how Shaq has looked great in summer league and that Okobo has also had his moments. BECUASE... Remember when Ulis DOMINATED summer league?????

We really REALLY **** up on our PG decisions.

There are still two very obtainable very good PGs we can trade for. Lets get one of Dragic or McConnell, heck get both.

Why is TJ McConnell very obtainable? He’s a 1.5 million dollar good role player for a playoff team that needs cheap role players. I’m sure Philly wants to keep him unless we overpay which would be stupid considering he is unrestricted next year.

So Ulis and Payton would have been 4.5m if cap space; two roster spots

They wont be able to keep him next year and they have like 10 guards already, they drafted like 3 PGs this draft alone... With Fultz coming back better to get something now for him than nothing next year.

He's not. They are very high on him and picked up his option immediately. Super value for them. I don't know that Dragic is either. Probably just the ones people have been mentioning like Teodosic, which doesn't excite me much given his bad D..not good next to Book...but at least he can shoot and pass, and of course Knight isn't much of a defender anyway.

I still have high hopes Okobo continues to improve at the rate he did that last 6 months and hits the ground running. I think Shaq can play some minutes too. Booker will handle the ball a lot...Shaq a nice defender to have next to him. If Shaq can just learn to shoot (at least he can hit free throws), he could probably be a pretty solid overall player...he is already a plus defender.

You’re letting Ayton off the hook. It’s true some of the passes (particularly when Ayton was on the move) were very poor, and these things are clearly not a strength yet for guys like Shaq and Okobo (though my less than perfect memory seems to recall guys like Jackson and Reed committing a lot of errant post entries as well). But the vast majority of the failed post entry passes were due to Ayton’s inability/unwillingness to hold his defender off and hold his position.

Payton for the MLE. Ulis for the min.

Knight/Payton/Ulis/Oboko
Booker/Daniels
TJ/JJ/Bridges
Ariza/Bender/Chriss
Ayton/Chandler

Dudley on IR
Reed and Harrison on 2 way

Len walks. Peters walks or gets picked up for the G league again.

Better yet...dont even sign Ariza. That moves makes less sense every damn day.

No you don't keep Payton or Ulis ... neither can play defense or hit the three point shot. McD's best move was letting those two go and signing 3-D players like Reed, Bridges, and Ariza. Shaq at least plays tenacious defense and can run the team.

Where do you guys see Len going? I am guessing he only gets vet min now. Maybe a one year deal for a team lacking bigs.
Weird to ask but does it pay to consider bringing him back to backup Ayton?

I like that idea. Len is not a bad player, he is 10x the player Miles Plumbee is at least, Plumbee is currently on a 12mil per contract while Len is still unemployed, weird.

I've always said I'd bring back Len. As far as what they contribute on the court, I'd easily rather have Len at the minimum or at $5 million than Chandler. I guess overall I'd rather have Len than Chandler period regardless of cost.

But we won't bring him back. Len was pretty good last year but everyone made up their minds about him prior to that.

Sounds like Chriss may back up Ayton, if we don't trade him.

I have no idea where Len ends up. Seems like he should easily get a small deal. But I knew Cs wouldn't get paid much because no team really needs them...there are an abundance and most teams that have cap space have one or drafted one or both.

If these guys (Len, Ulis, IT, etc) were smart, they would all head east, sign a 1 year deal, feast on the weaker eastern players, and then sign a big deal next summer.

I'm sure they didn't neglect to contact everyone. The market is weak. Ulis was a borderline player on one of the worst teams in the league last year. No one needs a PG except us. Few teams need a C, but I'd be surprised if Len didn't get picked up somewhere.
