I actually just watched it. Yes, he uptalks with each sentence at the beginning, and when you end the sentence like that it makes you sound unsure and doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. A lot of people have started talking like that in recent times and it bothers a lot of people.

Also in the first 6 sentences spoken, the 6th word HAD 6 LETTERS. ‘666??’  wise to keep an eye on this fellows.

No conspiracy theory...just a trend many find annoying...though ever since I hear so many people are so annoyed by it I listen for it and find it amusing..

Spoiler:
Uptalk. That ever-growing tendency to end statements with upward inflections to make them sound like questions. Like you're not quite sure what you're saying is true. Or clear. Or will be acceptable to your audience. To suggest that you're willing to back down, or restate your point, or change your viewpoint altogether if your listeners don't nod their approval.

It's a nasty habit. It is the very opposite of confidence or assertiveness. It's gotten all out of control. These days even statements about which there should be no question or doubt are presented in this tentative, timid and deferential manner. Here's an example. I teach a 4th year university course in which part of the requirement is a seminar presentation. Students used to stand up and share the results of their research in a way that conveyed their confidence and knowledge. They no longer do. Even if they do feel confident, their culture now mandates that they dial it back and sound like this:
My name is Jennifer? My seminar today is on bystander apathy? There is quite a bit of research on this topic?

That’s actually fascinating to me and nice to know I’m not the only one who notices it. Uptalk: can’t truss it!

I just had a scary thought that I’m sure you’ll call me crazy for. But what if jones intends to go after a lebron trade? That would explain his sort of last minute decision to fire koko and go after Monty. And the lakers were kind of a debacle last season that stained lebrons rep a little; he might want out and believe he can take our young core somewhere to prove something.

How does everyone feel about the Portland Asst after watching that backcourt blossom?

Prefer either one of them (especially Nate Tibbetts) over failed retread Monty Williams.

I saw a rumour on twitter that Rich Paul&LBJ wanted Kidd to coach the Lakers lol
Be careful to what you wish for.

PS: He wont leave them... That minority % participation is bigger than anything for him right now.

Not sure has Monty Williams is a re-tread. One job in NO, went to the playoffs twice. Joerger is a re-tread; Stan Van Gundy, might be a re-tread. Monty Williams is not a re-tread

As for the two candidates - I would like Vanterpool with his work with the Portland guards.

Sham-shot: Suns will interview Monty Williams again this week with Sarver as part of the process.

Running some analysis on impact of coaching changes. So far I couldn't convince myself of the value of continuity, yet.

We've had 1745 coaching seasons in the NBA (sometimes one team in a season can have two (or three) coaches. If both coached for more than 25 games I considered it a "coaching season")

30% of these were 1st season coaches (not necessarily rookie coaches. Just training the team for the 1st season).

21% of these had a record below .300 (aka they sucked)

40% of the coaches who sucked in their 1st year were fired. 27% of the teams who changed coach managed to have a >400 record the next year (didn't suck).

Of the coaches who weren't fired, only 29% managed to get a >.400 record on their 2nd year. So roughly the same chances if you change or keep your coach.

I'll exploit more the data to see if longer tenures result in more significant improvements. If anybody wants to play with it, I'm happy to share the excel sheet.

Agreed. One interview is courtesy. Two interviews means serious interest. Or least worth another discussion.

Coach Bud used us as a leverage to get out of Atlanta.
Monty will use us to get more money from LA.

Except this time we have the more attractive roster.

Lebron Ball Kuzma Ingram and cap space is a good start.

Just different expectations for each market

But remember coach like Monty is ideally looking at staying for at least 5-10 years. LA could be really bad in 1-2 years as Lebron ages, while we are on the upside.

Biggest competition for Monty is probably The 76ers
