I like JJJ but this is an overpay. Take into account his rebounding, foul rate and most importantly his durability.

I’d much rather have John Collins and he signed a similar deal.

Like JJJ but that’s a lot of money. He never plays. Feel like last season when he returned from his injury, he was jacking up 3’s every chance he got.

That's waaaay toooo muuuuch for JJJ.
I bet Ayton's agent is feeling bipolar right now. He is happy as hell that he can show that to us, and he is nervous as hell if he doesn't get a max from us what will his client say.

This is in response to the JJJ contract being reported. I thought this was a parody account but this is actually McD.

That seems like a lot of money for someone that averages about 40 games per year through his first 3 seasons. He's still young and has a high ceiling though, so it's possible he'd find a max contract if he has a healthy season.

Not sure how this impacts Ayton's negotiations. I still see people say they prefer JJJ to Ayton, but I assume that's not accounting for health.

Here's my takeaway for the Ayton holdup.

The difference between 25% and 30% is about $7m. If we get repeater tax status during his contract and are $15m+ over the luxury cap that $7m would essentially cost Sarver $35m ($7m x 1 in salary and $7m x 4 in luxury tax) per year.

We have to keep in mind from a fan's point of view if Sarver is paying a mammoth amount in taxes it increases the chances we will have to just let Chris Paul expire instead of replacing him with another star, so you can see why this seemingly small detail has to be considered for a win-win outcome for eWhat time is the deadline for NBA?

Last I heard, it was 6 p.m. ( 4 p.m. for us out west)?

I hope they get an extension done but wanted to note Ayton gets paid the same this season regardless. Those extensions signed now don't actually go into effect until next season. And next year the suns can give him the same contract he could sign now. The only real difference is hard feelings it can cause and the impact that could have down the line.

The Bridges deal was actually more important in my opinion because his price tag could have jumped with a good season.

Now the real issue is if Ayton would actually play out next season on the QO and then he would be a UFA the following season. This is very unlikely and he would lose some money year one. But I should note because he was the #1 overall pick his QO is actually really high and he wouldn't be leaving as much money on the table playing on it vs someone who was drafted like 10th. That fact should make the suns a little nervous.

I thought JJJ was the guy who Memphis would wait a year on to make sure they have something in him before committing that much. But they struggle to attract FA's too so I don't fault them. If he was fully healthy, he probably would have gotten max, or close to it. This might be a blessing in disguise. If he balls out, this deal is a steal for them. If not, I supposed it could have been worse.

Kudo's for Jackson's agent for getting this money for him. If injuries continue to plague him, he's still set for life at least.

But then you have Ayton already exploring other career choices as a result of the disrespect of not being made a priority! Or perhaps Saver told him that he couldn't afford the full max, And Ayton would have to make up the difference with a second job???

Is that old footage? Looks like Jevon Carter at the entry next to Payne, and Galloway in the corner. Plus a healthy Saric jumping around.

Yeah! I believe that the guy who posted this, added Mikals' extension in imply excitement over it contextually. But yes, It's likely an old picture around playoff time last season if I had to venture a guess.

Should we have any interest?
He's got some size and versatility at 6'9 and is a decent glue guy. But most importantly, He has history and familiarity with both Monty Williams and Chris Paul from his time in New Orleans. :D

Al Farouq Aminu waived by the Spurs.....

Not that the Suns should sign him... but are they setting up for a Young for Smith/Saric trade :D

(I am only pushing the trade so the Suns sign Ayton dammit!)

Aminu hasn't been the same player since he got hurt but as the 15th man on a vet min I wouldn't have a problem with signing him. He was an excellent defender with Portland.

Well ultimately that's good for us, unless it means he regressed or didn't improve. My guess he improves and someone offers him the max they can, which we can still beat.

Thoughts????

Suns would get significantly worse defensively.

Yeah!
My point being in terms of 15th man or whatever at his cost as a player picked up off of waivers, He could add more tangible veteran depth and versatility to our bench to keep it more stabilized. I also think that coach Monty and Paul with their familiarity and chemistry together could definitely get the most value out of him. Perhaps even wherein he'd expierence a resurgence somewhat. To our benefit obviously. I just see decent value there.

He is done. Injuries can do that to anyone.
