Saw it on ESPN this morning - based on what the Heat currently have on the books, if Lebron takes the max, Bosh takes a paycut down to $15M and Wade drops all the way down to $10M, the Heat would have something like $9.4M. If they re-signed Haslem to a small deal, they'd have like $6-7M to spend on the entire rest of the team.

Obviously this is all theoretical, but I can't fathom how, if Lebron is looking to play team ball, he would even consider playing with Miami if that's the best they can do.

Unless Bosh and Wade took even bigger discounts, or unless Lebron also decided to take a cut, this would be stupid.

Good to hear. If McDonough can just snag a meeting with James..

Supposedly James isnt meeting with anybody. His Agent is the one meeting with the teams then sitting down with Lebron and discuss what his best options are. I think that could really help play in our favor.

And the Suns are already talking to his agent anyway because LeBron and Bledsoe have the same agent.

"@WojYahooNBA: Expect Toronto GM Masai Ujiri to make aggressive bid to keep Kyle Lowry at midnight, try to wrap up deal before Miami/Houston can engage."

Hopefully Toronto makes a huge offer to Lowry, and makes it early. With Lowry unavailable, Miami's options to improve from last year (and therefore, options to keep LeBron) grow slightly smaller.

Even that would be fine by me. Though, I think if McDonough could meet with James face to face we would have a better shot.

They've all had to take less money, and the team doesn't look that great. So, if you're making all these sacrifices, but you can't win, what's the point?

I gotta think PHX looks attractive. You don't have to sacrifice anything except that the city may not be the one you want to be in. Hey, the weather's nice. Seems like a minor sacrifice for a really huge and relatively secure payoff. I don't see why it couldn't work.

@ESPNNBA: LeBron not scheduling free agent pitch meetings, will demand max salary (via @WindhorstESPN).

Sounds maybe good for us. He wants the max (and nothing less), and his agent will do preliminary work searching for teams. Suns 1, Heat 0

What does this mean? He's not going to meet with any teams?

It means he's not interested in the fan fare of free agency. He's not trying to be wined and dined, he wants to know specifics on how each team intends on building a perenniel contender around him. I imagine every conversation Rich Paul will have starts something like this,

"Can you give Lebron Max money and years?"
- "No, bu-"
"*click*"

At least that's how I read into it.

I'm pretty sure the Suns end up with an S&T. Too valuable a piece, he'll be able to command more than MLE if we assist him, which we should.

Another first rounder? Eh? Eh? You know you want the sweet-stroking big to take you to da next level... all it'll cost you is the pretty little pick... won't matter much anyway with all those wins you're gonna rack up. Come on baby, gimme dat pick. Make it 2016, it'll hurt less.

I forget myself. Only really works if a team has a TPE or a non-guaranteed contract. Current TPEs: http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-t ... xceptions/. Looks like only OKC and GSW are in that game. Non-guaranteed contracts list adds no one to the list of possibilities: http://en.hispanosnba.com/transactions/ ... -contracts

Dragic became my Suns favorite when he single handedly stomped the Spurs in SanAnt. I still will watch that condensed performance on YouTube for gits and shiggles. I would be greatly disappointed if he EVER plays elsewhere... Nash, Stat and D'Ant brought my interest back, Dragic has maintained it. And yes, I go back 40, but want no part of controlling Superstars if they come at the expense of the Dragon.

Just how popular is GD in the motherland?

I agree. I don't want to lose Dragic. There is probably a pretty good chance if we were to get LeBron and Melo that eventually Dragic would be gone for depth (unless we could re-sign him and Bledsoe for around $10 million it's possible we keep them both). Dragic may command quite a bit more than that in free agency though.

There is a chance we keep everyone though and Sarver doesn't mind paying the tax because revenue from playoffs and tv revenue would probably go WAY up.

T-Rob. The only thing better than the Morris Twins is the Morris Triplets! Who knows, maybe they would gain some new superpowers...

If the Suns really and truly want LeBron James to play in Phoenix next season, they don't need to talk to his agent and they don't need to talk with LeBron. What they need to do is have Eric Bledsoe call up LeBron and tell him he wants him in Phoenix and what the benefits will be. It's the same exact way Dwyane Wade called up LeBron and Bosh a few years ago and, in essence, orchestrated the Big Three in Miami. I'm sure the idea was all Riley's, but he had Wade set it all up. I'm positive players talking with players means more than team executives and agents talking with players. If Bledsoe enjoyed his time here last season and believes in Dragic, Hornacek, McDonough, Babby, Sarver, the medial staff, the city and the rest of the team..... he needs to sing those praises to LeBron. It's that simple. An endorsement by McDonough and company will never mean the same as an endorsement by Bledsoe.

Yeah, that's basically what I was saying. Realistically they could get one really good player, like Pau or possibly Lowry, or two decent ones. Than they would have the MLE and minimum deals for the rest.

Cole/Napier
Wade
LeBron
Bosh
Pau/Haslem

Mid level exception guy (3 pt specialist)
Vets or young guys on minimum deals

I guess it doesn't look quite as bad detailing it out like that. That is a solid 8 man rotation plus the minimum deal guys.

Yet it pales in comparison to

Eric Bledsoe/Tyler Ennis
Goran Dragic/Archie Goodwin
Lebron James/TJ Warren
Carmelo Anthony/Markieff Morris
Miles Plumlee/Alex Len

Not to mention whichever player we manage to add using the MLE.

That's not good news. That's the ONE place I could see Frye really happy going to because he has a home there. GS possibly because of Kerr but I'd guess he'd prefer Portland to GS.

Also works against us as more teams will be after Bledsoe.

Return to Phoenix Suns
