Somewhat important for lotto standings. A Bulls win would be good for us so they stay further ahead of us. I'm pulling for us to win, but the more they win, if we can stay in that 3 spot, the odds are a bit better and we can't fall as far in the lotto drawing.
Another thing is, if the Wizards lose, they will stay worse than the Lakers who are right on their tails with only one more win...keeping the Lakers odds worse, and maybe the Wizards can catch other Western teams like the Pelicans, Mavs and Grizzlies. I'd rather these western teams get pushed further down and have worse odds.
So go Bulls!
Edit: Rockets/Grizzlies in OT as well...hopefully Grizz win that, and hopefully somehow the Mavs beat Portland, though that's definitely unlikely.
Yeah I'm watching the Rockets game. 4 seconds left with the Grizzlies up 3 and Justin Holiday fouls Harden on a 3, so they head to OT.
Dunn is having a good game with 12 assists and 2 turnovers. 24 points but not very good efficiency 10/24.
I see Bruno Caboclo is having a good game. This is the guy who the Raptors took when they apparently wanted Ennis but we took him 5 years ago, the year we also took TJ and Bogdan.
They said he was 2 years away from being 2 years away.
So in his 5th year after that, he's playing fairly well.....quite the call there.

Damn, I saw it was 123-117 with 43 seconds left and then next thing I know it's tied at 125 with 15 seconds left. I guess Harden hit two long 3s and a 2 all in under 30 seconds? How the hell does that happen? I think he had 49 before that even happened.

I didn’t like Jones plan to bring in 4 vets this summer, so wouldn’t mind to much if one of the new vets is getting the minimum. Jimmer also might scare some of our young guys into improving by reminding them that they can get quickly kicked out of the league if they don’t perform.

Oh wow, I saw .1 seconds left, tied at 125 thinking it was going into double OT, starting to envision a frontcourt of Zion and Jaren Jackson...the perfect defensive and inside/out pairing and then I notice Memphis wins 126-125. Did they get fouled with .1 second left and miss their first FT?

Oh ****. I turned it off because I saw the same thing on my tabs while watching the Bulls game. Thought the Rockets were up 123-117, figured the game was over. Was it the Grizzlies who were up by 6? And then the Grizzlies ending up winning.
*edit*
okay looking at the play by play on NBA.com. Grizzlies were up 6, Harden made some shots. Tied at 125, Capella fouled Jonas on a rebound putting him at the line and he made 1 of 2.
Yeah Rockets aren't going to do well in the playoffs. I know they won't blow it up, but I can't see them significantly improving anytime soon with CP3 eating $38M next season.

Literally have no idea how he's going to get four vets in with $6m in cap space.
As for Jones' performance as GM, The Oubre trade was genius, but I have to recall that that was not the first iteration of the deal, and we were not getting Oubre initially.
Johnson was a solid pickup, trading a non-rotational player for one who actually gets minutes.
He's sitting at a C for me, tbh, and his plan to bring in four vets is a big reason why. I don't understand who he is targeting and where he thinks he can get the money from. Also this crazy Tobias Harris talk. He doesn't seem like he's got his head on straight. Though maybe he's out here playing 4D chess while I'm playing checkers.

Yeah, I had to pull up the play by play to see what exactly happened. I guess Harden scored 8 in like 30 seconds to tie it up. Memphis ran down and Mike Conley tried a shot with 2 seconds left and PJ Tucker blocked it but somehow JV got it and Capela fouled JV with .1 seconds left. I guess he actually made the first free throw and missed the second, maybe intentionally even though I don't think there was enough time for the Rockets to do anything.

He's targeting 4 free agent vets....Oubre, Holmes, a $6 million dollar man, and Bender with the room exception.
Kidding...well, kinda...but who knows?
I think he actually said he would target 4 and hope to get 2. I think there is a reasonable chance they try to trade Jackson's deal into someone's cap space to clear some space. Then they may try a trade with some other players or include Jackson in that trade. Could trade our pick too for cap space. Without our pick we have $15 or so...if we renounce Holmes on top of that more like $17.

Qwigglez wrote:His college stats his last two years are pretty stellar. 25 points per game, shooting 42% from 3. Can't see why he isn't in the NBA when you got others like Seth Curry, Fred VanVleet, Jerryd Bayless, DJ Augustin, Austin Rivers, who are still here. Not saying he is better than those guys, but they are short(er) PG's who are more offensively oriented. Some of these guys are decent defensively like VanVleet, but Bayless shouldn't be in the league when he can't shoot 3's.
I don't mind the signing since all our guys are injured, but we can't expect much. Low risk, high reward possibility I guess.
I posted this mini-docu and a few other great ones (That im reposting) on Jimmer in China last year.
And here is Jimmer DOMINATING Marbury and even getting into a scuffle with him:
.....along with an 30 minute interview with him from just 6 days ago!
I was and am really interested in signing him. Being in China has really changed him for the better. He has really worked on the "Team" aspect of his game (Helping the team more and setting up others) along with a new stance on defense as well (He's a better defender than he was, but is still limited due to his size/frame/length).

Re: Season speculation, free agency, and trade ideas: #ValleyBoyz rise up
I feel James Jones envisions the team the way I kinda envision it. Surrounding Booker/Ayton with 3&D guys with length. Bridges is perfect and he's definitely a building block. I'm not entirely sure why he targeted Dillon Brooks over Oubre, except for Brooks being on a very cheap $1.3M contract for next season. He's 6'6 with average wingspan, but he obviously played very well his rookie season as a 2nd round pick averaging 11 points on 44FG% and 36% from 3. I'm not gonna give Jones an A+ rating for the Oubre trade simply because the way it happened it wasn't meant for us to get him. If we didn't get Oubre we'd have another $10M to play with this summer, though we could just renounce his rights and have that extra cap space, but given the way he's been playing we are going to do our best to keep him.
If we really are targeting higher caliber free agents we are going to need to open up our cap space, and the only way we can do that is by trading Warren & Jackson for cap space. Not a smart move by itself, so we'll have to have a free agent lined up and then simultaneously have a trade lined up for these guys, unless we trade them on draft day. We can also trade Tyler Johnson for cap space, but I'd guess the only way we can do that before free agency is by giving up our 2019 pick.
A lot of moving parts and I think what we do will be from other dominoes falling first in the league. For example, Anthony Davis being traded on draft day, perhaps Mike Conley on draft day, etc. If these dominos don't start falling, then we play the safe route, draft for BPA/Fit (Morant), and figure out the rest later.

I think a deal is there to be made, but yea, that's way too much for him. 4 first rounders?

Easy, we invade the CBA and take all 4 from China!

Jamaal Frankin is also over there, from The Valley, i was really high on him during the draft, just kind of fizzled in Memphis stuck behind Conley and others.

I'd do it if we do a pick swap for this draft & add in the Bucks pick because we'd be set for a very long time. Keep Troy Daniels, Richaun Holmes.
I'd assume the trade would be Tyler Johnson, Josh Jackson, picks for Bradley Beal.
Beal / Booker / Bridges / Oubre / Ayton
Melton / Daniels / Warren / Clarke / Holmes
We'd have three capable creators offensively in the starting lineup as well as having Warren as our sixth man off the bench.

Has he said he wants to be traded? I don't know why they'd trade him. They got off their other contracts because they couldn't afford 3 max contracts. Are they not ok with the cap now?
I guess if he has asked out but I don't think he has. From what I've heard, Ted Leonsis, their owner, is opposed to tanking. They are a team that could really use Zion. I wouldn't mind that if the Suns don't get him. Would be pretty interesting.

No mention of him wanting out. He's been saying all the rights things, that he wants to spend his entire career with the Wizards and everything. Only reason I could think he is trades is if they fire their current GM and replace him with someone that wants an entire roster overhaul. Beal saying all the rights things though could easily be him not wanting to be made out to be the bad guy.

How much would you pay Beal on his next deal? It would probably start somewhere around $35 million. A max could be more.

Depends how well the team is doing. He's been very healthy the last three seasons, and his contract ends in the summer of 2021, when he'll be 28. I would hope, if we traded for him this off-season, we'd make the playoffs in 2020 and 2021. I'd definitely give him whatever he wants to keep this team together.
