Impatient and with too big of an ego to defer to seasoned basketball execs which was the exact opposite of what he stated he would do when he was going to do in the first 6 months of ownership.
Typical C suite exec that says one thing and then does the opposite & leading by ego and arrogance. Reminds me a bit of Sarver except Sarver was not as wealthy so he was trying to save costs as much as possible.
James Jones was trying to get KD since last summer, Ishbia just gave him everything in his power to make it happen.
Adding Crowder to the trade was the critical part of it because we wanted to trade him on another deal to get more depth but at the end of the day a role player can't stop you from getting a player as amazing as KD, so IMO it was a great move by Ishbia.

This guy is David J. Chao, who was was the head team physician for the San Diego Chargers for 17 years.
He is a board-certified Orthopaedic
Surgeon with a Subspecialty Certification in Sports Medicine.
He nails basically every injury and time needed for the athlete to comeback at full strength.
KD possibly is ready to go in a week, but we are gonna be extremely cautious giving him another extra week.
bwgood77 wrote:I can say this guy must be very knowledgeable with injuries, being that the Chargers were decimated by injuries every year. Of course maybe that had something to do with him approving guys to play too early.

He was cleared by an independent panel of three doctors

Pretty sure Jones wouldn't include Mikal this past summer. I don't even think Jones pulls the trigger this time without Crowder if Ishbia isn't pushing for it. He's smarter than that.

I disagree. James Jones himself said in a interview that we needed to trade a good player to get a great player.
On another more recent interview he again talked about it and with more details about the situation. He was all in for KD.

Well of course. He's not going to say "I never would have given up all that for KD but I'm not the owner and don't have final say."

We don’t know what he has in his mind but what we know for sure is what he has said and what he has done. If that’s not enough proof for you it’s OK.

Yes, we know what he did this summer when it was up to him and we know what he did once Ishbia was directing him on what to do.

hmm, does it seem like his shots are missing a lot more from the right side than the left? which side is the ankle injury on again?

The guy has won titles and he knows superstars win in this league. He traded a package of role players in Rubio and Oubre for CP3 and now Mikal and Cam for KD. Only negative is age and injury history of the players, which makes the price look too high.

Price was certainly high and to me, the only criticism is we basically gave up the king's ransom. I wished we could have negotiated more on the terms of the picks, whether adding protection, reducing the number or include pick swaps but we are where we are. I think outside of the picks which I think we overpaid, just looking at the players, I think Mikal/Cam/Crowder for KD is a totally fair package. I would've added picks too but not 4 unprotected.
But given we courted the KD trade last offseason before Ishbia was involved, it's clear JJ was keen to bring more star power regardless of who was in charge.

We still have half of those future draft picks untill 2030, so there is no suns future in danger.
With Booker/ Paul in our team there is only one way to get a championship and that is not college kids. The tactic for a cursed franchise is to be aggressive and ready to reach the small gap of a future success story just like Toronto did .
I don't know many hall of famers to want to be traded to the valley, so patience is not a useful tactic.
I understand everyone's upset about the high value of our package but :
-Nets had another deals from Miami, Toronto or Celtics ( teams with rings and no high pressure championship)
- Suns will only be upgraded even though Durant's health issues, because good players will come next to KD and Book the next summer.
If Ishbia wants a championship, a possible worst case scenario about KD health will be fixed in a way better than Sarver's plan to save his $$$.
2026 Bridges back date.
Good players will go to teams that can pay them. We don't have any cap space.
This is what many fans are overlooking.
It doesn't matter how much Ishbia wants to go over the cap we just simply can't sign any free agents to anything besides the veterans minimum or MLE.
The league simply doesn't want to allow the richer owners to flaunt the salary cap rules and build a stacked team by outspending the other teams, like it or not there are rules in place that keep teams somewhat competitive with each other.
“Kevin Durant is doing more & more on the court… [The Suns] are hopeful that he’s gonna be back in the lineup before the end of March, potentially early April.”
Shams Charania on Kevin Durant's possible timetable for return.
