i think you somewhat underestimate how flexible and good is an nba-level defense and how much more defendable an opposing team would be if the game plan consists of "option one" and "other options".
im not saying let amare shoot every shot, but run the offense from there, you can also open up the shooters, create drives etc from that pick and roll
amare is one of the best offensive forces in the entired NBA, he deserves to get similar FGA's to kobe, but we just seem to be too stubborn to let him
there is nothing wrong with having a go to guy and a go to play, dantoni seems to not want to ever focus the offense around someone (other than nash of course) and in amare we have someone who deserves it built around them
