Do you want somewhere near a nice urban shopping area or a more night club/restaurant area? What is your preferred distance from the Arena as well since Phoenix is huge and spread out? I'm a native so I know the area pretty well.

Decent food/bar options is more what I'm looking for. 30ish minutes from the arena would be good. I don't know how good the light rail is but I saw you can catch that right to the arena so somewhere near a stop.

I've started looking and I saw one place in Encanto Village, some in Tempe and I think Camelback east village. From looking at a map it seems Glendale and Scottsdale is starting to get a bit far out.

Last time I was there I stayed at Quality Inn and Suites downtown, it's about 10 blocks due north of US airways and the light rail stops about a block or 2 away (I walked the whole 10 block walk a couple times, takes about 30mins). It was around $110 a night and very tidy on the inside.

When I head over next month I'm thinking something closer to Tempe, like you mentioned the light rail continues east from US airways past the airport towards there anyway. Also, Tempe seems to be a good middle point between downtown and Scottsdale.

I can let you know where I end up and what I find.

There are alot of great restaurants if you like touristy stuff there is Majerles and Alice Cooper has Cooperstown if you like baseball at all. If you just like a rockin bar I personally dont drink but I hear the Tilted Kilt downtown is currently very popular. Away from downtown Phoenix, Tempe is also a nice choice if you've never been there. There isnt a woman alive who doesnt love to see mill avenue at least once plus there is a good comedy club there as well if you like that..the Tempe Improv. Tempe is basically the stomping grounds for ASU for there is an incredible assortment of bars and food there as well-probably moreso if you can stand college students. Anything from your trendy sushi bar like Ra to an old burger place named The Chuckbox (on University) that has amazing food, unique charm and is pretty inexpensive. If you just google "tempe mill avenue restaurants" - I wouldnt be suprised if there were at least 30 different ones in a mile an a half stretch. Downtown has a good variety as well but it is more spread out much more.

Hope this portal helps there is really a ton it just depends on your tastes to be honest. http://www.downtownphoenix.com/blog/category/phoenix-restaurants-dining/

I will also look into that place. It would be great if you can let me know where you end up and how it is.

Thanks for the info. I want to check out Majerles and Alice Coopers place just for the sake of it while I'm in town. I've heard of the Tempe Improv before too, so I wouldn't mind checking that out either. Sounds like Tempe is a good option.

I wouldn't recommend alice coopers. I'm surprised I've never been to Majerles TBH. That's a great idea im going to go try it now too! Recently ive been on a streak of trying some of the "most famous" food joints in Arizona and I cant believe this never crossed my mind.

Check airbnb.com for some places too. Not sure what the prices are like in Phoenix, but rooms are about half price what hotels go for in NYC.

Youtube has a few. Game 4 & 6 in their entirety (in one video). I believe the others are on there as well, just broken up into parts.

This whole last season of Dexter has been awful with the last episode taking the cake as one of the worst season finales in history!

Right, the wife and I are after some new shows to watch, cos we watch very few programs together.

We've narrowed it down to these:

Ray Donovan
The Walking Dead
Vikings
Fallen Skies

Has anyone seen all of them and if you have, rank them/give me some feedback! cheers

Only seen Walking dead from that list. Starts off alright but once you hit season 2 (ep 7 in particular) it gets really intense. Can't wait for the next season.

Have you seen Sons of Anarchy?

I really like Falling Skies. The first two seasons are really good, but the latest season was a disappointment. It's been renewed for a fourth though, so I'm hoping it gets back to what made it such a great show.

Going to need a show too Tastic.... once Breaking Bad finishes up.

Surely you have Heisenberged some? If not... watch it from S1 Ep1 on Netflix.

I like theNewsroom too, but cxld HBO so will have to wait for reruns somewhere. Watch this opener though, nothing 'dumber' about Daniels in this one

I watch Newsroom, it is very good, although I am not sure how someone from outside the USA would really be into it. Boardwalk Empire isn't too bad.

Being in the motherland Tastic, have you watched Starzz's The White Queen? We don't get Starzz anymore, but they just had a free preview. I recorded whatever I could. It's funny, but on one hand I want it to be good, but not so good that I have to o out and buy it.

I really don't watch many non movie channel series.

The Walking Dead and Falling Skies are both good shows to marathon, because they have great continuing stories. I watched The Walking Dead last summer (first two seasons) and then Falling Skies earlier this summer. With both shows, once I caught up, they were not as fun to watch once I caught up because I had to wait a week in between episodes, and the subpar episodes stick with you a little longer.

I"ve heard pretty bad things about Ray Donovan and pretty good things about Vikings, but there are only 10 episodes or so of each.

I'd start with The Walking Dead. Season one is awesome.
