Sanders has to prove himself post new contract signing. We will have to see if he can get back to last season level.

The Pau trade was offered by an LAL fan.
All I said was, valuewise, it wasn't bad. I don't think any logical Suns fan would do it.

I know what you said, my point is value wise it is horrible and the Suns would not ever consider it.

Actually the only way I see trading for Pau is to help the Lakers luxury tax situation. This could happen if the Lakers fall out of the playoff picture. Taking on Pau and sending back Okafor would save the Lakers close to $8M in penalties. Wonder if the Lakers owners don't mind paying $8m for a player they aren't planning on resigning next year? Seems like chump change to them. Otherwise the Suns could extract draft picks like a 2019 first rounder and two second round picks for saving them money (ala Kurt Thomas and the two first rounders we sent to Seattle/OKC)?

Man I'd love that.
Then either try to re-trade Pau, buy him out to save a lil money, or just use him for the stretch run.

Pau Gasol can be had for minimum next season...

When he joins Lebron James to ring chase. ;)

I keep having thoughts of the day when Love decides he is done in Minny.... and so hope a Pau for KLove deal does not happen. I don't know if the Rubio/Pau bond is strong enough to get him from the beach to the tundra.... but I can't shake the convenience of it all. Its just the type of crap LA pulls. Thank goodness Kahn is Gone.

Now if we were able to somehow intercede by snagging Pau, then backdooring him to Minny for KLove ??? But thats entering into God-Like picture on the wall GMing.

GetYourPHX wrote:If Milwaukee decides to tank, I wouldn't mind the Suns trying to work a deal for Larry Sanders. An athletic, shot blocking big that can run the floor would work great with this team.

A) MIL will never "try" to tank while they're owned by the same dude, who has a win-now fixation.
B) Even though they're not actively tanking, they're still absolutely atrocious, and have the worst record in the East already.
C) The only trades MIL will make will be trades that improve their team; losing Larry Sanders hurts their squad a lot, and it would take a hefty return for them to even think about the deal.

Sanders is one of the very best defensive players in the entire league:
http://www.sloansportsconference.com/wp ... %20NBA.pdf

He was 3rd in DRTG last year, behind only Duncan and Hibbert.

He allowed only .76 points per possession against him, which was good for 2nd in the league last year, only behind Marc Gasol. Plumlee is at .81 right now, which is ranked 88th in the league currently. Still awesome, but not on Larry's level.

No knock on Miles, though. It's wonderful to have a springy, athletic shotblocker on the team.

Plumlee's production for his contract is fantastic.
Sanders is awesome defender but it's not critical to go for him ... Yet.

And Bucks would be crazy to trade him... Unless he only plays hard for contracts as mentioned in the general boards.

I'm more interested in Henson... Since he is at a cheap contract and can still develop to a menacing shot blocker at PF position.

Ha that would be a huge get for the Suns. A big with an actual post game.

You all think we have it rough on deciding who to play and who we want on our team (trades)? I found the following posted by a Knicks fan that has become completely delusional. This is what losing can do to one's mind.

Phoenix seems like an ideal trading partner. They have 2 young PGs, a big expiring contract, a bunch of short term contracts and 1st round picks next year

Carmelo Anthony
Raymond Felton
JR Smith
Chris Smith
Kenyon Martin
Cole Aldrich

for

Eric Bledsoe (QO)
Channing Frye (PO)
Emeko Okafor (expiring)
Alex Len
Gerald Green
2014 First Round Pick (Phoenix)
2014 First Round Pick (Timberwolves)
2014 First Round Pick (Wizards)
Future picks

Lineup after:

NY:

Chandler / Len / Okafor
Bargnani / Frye / Amare
Green / World Peace
Shumpert / Hardaway Jr. / Murry
Bledsoe / Prigioni / Udrih

Phoenix:

Plumee / Kravtsov / Aldrich
Morris / Morris / K-Mart
Anthony / Tucker / Christmas
JR Smith / Goodwin / C. Smith
Dragic / Felton / I. Smith

lol wut.....

I didn't even need to read more than a page of that thread to confirm that some Knick fans are totally serious about trying to make trades with "prime"-Melo value in mind.

Isn't it amazing how he wants to change places with the Suns - taking almost all of our assets, 3 first rounders, two starters, a key reserve, last year's #5, and future first picks for one of the least valuable "superstars" currently in existence and the dregs of their roster.

He was kind enough to let us keep Indiana's pick and Archie Goodwin though.

The grass is not always greener.

Yeah, whoever wrote that needs to be reminded that we no longer employ Mr. Lance Blanks.

I would trade Emeka Okafor, Gerald Green, Wizards pick, Indy's pick for Carmelo Anthony. Anything else is a steal for the Knicks. They are gonna lose Melo anyway. The Knicks shed an automatic 3mil with the incoming salary, so they save a little over 6mil in luxury tax.
Best deal they'd find. Not sure I want Melo on the Suns though.

That's more than a decent deal for Melo considering his FA status. Still, I wouldn't want Melo and his hero-ball around this team.

Wow you are generous! I would not trade for him at all in light of his intention to opt out and become a free agent. But if you were considering a Melo trade the most I would give is Okafor and Indy's pick for the rental.

I just do not like his isolation, ball stopping, non-fast breaking game.

Everyone seems to believe that OK4 is purely a trade asset. Granted, he is a large expiring deal, but he has little to no value other than that....UNLESS he is able to play this yr. Trading him would mean we are absorbing as much in return.

I don't think we'd take on an expensive cast off that had multiple yrs left on a deal, nor do I think we deplete our draft picks in effort to find superior talent. Nobody is going to give away a/the star player we covet. May be we take on a bad deal and an upcoming 2-3 yr vet? I just don't see who would be interested in him(OK4). Most of the teams have their budget under control, and of the few who don't, some don't even flinch at being in the lux tax (LA,NY, Brooklyn....)

I hope he gets healthy and plays here. For argument sake, suppose he is able to get to 100% by febuary... would he be a significant contributor ? Would he fit in here ? And if so, would he be a vet we'd keep on a much cheaper deal ?

To be honest, even Blanks would laugh at that.
