Agreed (assuming your'e talking about the Detroit 1st). Cap space has less value to the Suns nowadays since we're less of a draw to top tier free agents, so the expiring contract isn't especially appealing. That being said, it might be appealing to Sarver to not have to pay Knight's salary since I believe we're well above the minimum team salary.

at this point all we could offer is expiring(role players)+First. Also that first may end up being in the lotto. While we did acquire harris, we only have 3rd of a season to get him and our team adjusted, and being that we are on the cusp of the 8th seed, we can't afford really a adjustment period.

This is of course my sales pitch to phx. Reality maybe a whole lot different.

I really have no idea what the Suns are going to do. The team could make small trades, blockbuster trades, or no trades. Nothing will surprise me at this point.

9pm EST... I expected something to go down tonight... guess not. I think the potential trade partners are all holding out for a better deal. I see McD waiting until the last minute and one of 2 things will happen... 1) McD comes down on his price or 2) the Suns win a really good trade. Let's hope for #2.

our players are not difference makers... and our best chip ( MoBro) could actually be viewed as a negative.

so... option 3) ... nothing happens.

though I think McDoughnut spares himself a shutout and deals Mirza for second.

Getting late and I don't expect any news tonight. Things may pick up in the morning... but what do I know... maybe these front offices have war-boards and pulling all-nighters?

I fully concur with my fellow Pistons fan, we can offer you guys a first and some role players for Kieff. Whether SVG is even considering making such a move is another question and I hope he is. It's a good deal, you guys will have 2 firsts. Hell, you could've had 3 if you didn't give the Lakers pick to the 76ers. But 2 first round picks is a good start to building a team around Booker. I really hope this deal gets done in the next few hours.

I do miss seeing the Sonics as part of the NBA. I was in Seattle the year before they moved and most of the people I talked with didn't care too much about the Sonics which was unfortunate since they had Durant and I knew he would be huge.

I think within the next ten years the NBA is going to expand again and put a team back in Seattle. Give Payton and Kemp jersey retirements.

During that time (2006-08) when the team was sold & there was talk of it moving, the perception was that the team would likely leave. Add to that, the fact that the owners (Oklahomans who bought the team) did everything in their power to strip the team down and went full tank job (Cleveland Indians-Major League style). It was an absolute punk move. Most saw the writing on the wall & became apathetic. The last year, the team completely cutoff communications to the players/ team. They wanted out badly & the fans saw right through it. I will always hold contempt for that ownership group & team. David Stern was no saint either. He had a great helping hand in engineering the whole thing.

The League owes us big time. We have an owner (guy who tried to buy the Kings) who is patiently waiting for expansion approval. He has an arena deal set in place. The only thing needed, is the announcement of a team. I was mad at the league like others for quite a while. But, my love for the game has been far greater.

I would have more sympathy for you if you hadn't (for whatever reason) become a Spurs fan of all teams.

We already have 2 firsts this year even without the Lakers pick. We don't need a 3rd unless it's top 5. If yours is unprotected I'd consider it.

Other teams are already offering a first though. We seem to want a young player also. A first might be enough, but if that's the price it would go to the worst team of the group, and I also doubt Phx would try to accommodate Kieff by trading him to Detroit all else being equal. He's handled all of this horribly, and so imo Detroit has to make a legitimately better, not equal, offer for me to deal Kieff there.

I can't figure out Love's value any longer. I didn't want the Suns to get him when most thought he was a top 8 player a couple years ago. I think he's a fantastic role player/borderline all-star now but IDK how fantastic or where on that border he is?

That deal seems like it could work well for everyone. I'd be very happy to have Love locked up for four years. We have a ton of draft picks, may get a star to pair with him, another knock down shooter, and a pretty good pg if he can stay healthy, plus Chandler and Len to man the middle so Love can stretch. Our rebounding would be great.

If we get a few more, it just opens up options come draft night. Trade up? Swing for superstar? Who Knows?

And, Okafor is now apparently on the block. Wonder just how much they'd want for him. I'm pessimistic he'd ever play defense, but if Len could play PF and backup C, that could work. Would probably have to trade our pick this year plus something else good though to have a shot.

Trade ups are like unicorns, people talk about them all the time but no one ever sees one. Superstars are rarely moved for anything lower than top 7.

No, but what do you want to do? Just decide to suck for a few more years? I would not give up our pick, or at least would put protection on it, but we desperately need a 4 and preferably a stretch one, and we have never been a great rebounding team, and he is under contract for four years.

You never know what will happen with the Warriors and Spurs either. I doubt either goes anywhere, but Curry and Kawhi could get injured like Durant, George and Rose did. You never know. Either way, I'd rather have a team with Bledsoe/Booker/Ingram/Love/Chandler or Len with some good young depth behind them and perhaps we get to watch our team battle in the 2nd round instead of get another late lotto pick. I hate this "if you can't beat the Spurs or Warriors you may as well suck because you are not winning a title" mentality. I just want an entertaining team, damnit.....for once in 7 years?

I meant for the Suns to get it as part of a three way trade of Love to Boston, Knight/Markieff to Cleveland, and the Nets pick plus expiring contracts/fillers to Phoenix.

Its possible....

We are not getting that Nets pick. Not for Knight and Markieff. I guess Cleveland might rather have Knight and Markieff, but they would probably want protection on it. We wouldn't get an unprotected Nets pick. No way. I hope I eat my words though.

We can always draft and stash guys if we don't want to add a bunch in the same year. I don't think having more 1sts is a bad thing at all. There are people at the end of the 1st I'd like to take a flier on.
