Please stop, this is entirely too reasonable and optimistic for this forum.

If Ayton is traded in the offseason, Do we look at this again knowing Turner's making 30 million? Is his value even positive at that amount ? I can't imagine how it would be??

Are you saying Ayton is overpaid or that Turner is overpaid?

Pretty much most teams that have decent Cs that get new contracts will be in the $30 million range or more going forward. Some are on value contracts now, but many are close to that already.

Cuz him and booker are friends i think along with KAT...

I wouldnt mind the 3 of them together on the suns to see what they can do...

Remember Jimmy Butler HATED the work ethic and laziness of Wiggins/Towns. DLo is worse than Wiggins with that. Many fans see Towns in the same light many Suns fans see Ayton. A guy that doesn't put in effort. Butler saw it too. Last year the players voted Ayton higher in all star voting than Towns.

I do think Towns is better but there would likely be many of the exact same complaints and he also just got a supermax and cannot be traded until the summer.

Here are the #s on his contract extension:

Including a FRP with Crowder makes absolutely zero sense. He was a starter on a team that made the Finals and won 64 games. Not just that but he is an expiring and a proven winner.

Not a single player you just mentioned even comes close. I can see why Jones is hesitating because why give the Bucks/Nuggets a player that helps them reach the Finals.

Therefore I ask why do you feel that we need to throw in a FRP?

Like I said... because Clarkson is averaging 21 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds per game. To get a dynamic player like that would likely cost a 1st round pick. Jazz are likely to get a 1st round pick from someone for Clarkson if they end up trading him.

I guess if the Suns were able to get a 1st for Crowder, then Suns wouldn't have to give up their pick, so I do suppose a trade like this could work (also I was under the impression the Hawks didn't have their 2023 1st, but they do)

Suns get -
Jordan Clarkson

Jazz get -
Derrick Favors
Hawks 2023 1st

Hawks get -
Jae Crowder

The trade could be expanded if the Suns/Hawks were interested in Collins and Capela for Ayton and Dario too.

I would rather take a chance on DAR then waste a pick on Clarkson. Move Crowder for a solid player and keep our picks until the offseason.

Every NBA analyst says the Jazz owner loves Clarkson and he is the one vet they DO NOT want to trade. Zach Lowe says he has heard it a lot.

I wouldn't want Clarkson anyway, much rather have dlo. I don't think we necessarily need to trade for him. I think we can get him this summer with our MLE. I'd rather not waste resources on someone that will willingly sign here in a few months.....

Since Towns went out, D'Lo in 27 games is averaging 20 points, 6 assists, and 1 steal per game while shooting 49% from the field, 42% from 3, and 91% at the FT line. The Wolves are 14-13 in those games, but since the start of 2023 the Wolves are 10-3. An even smaller sample size for 2023, Russell is shooting 47% from 3 and 95% from the line. He's been on fire lately.

That was some great timing based on my above post

If there is an opportunity to get DLo I would jump at it now. He's getting to that Kuzma level of not being on the trade market IMO. Right now, is 5/5 shooting 4 of 4 from 3 in the 1st quarter against the Kings, he has 2 assists as well.

Dougie Buckets and Zach Collins for salary relief and a late 1st for the Spurs?? Doug is a marksman off the bench and Collins could be a very solid Pf off the bench, he is a great passer and plays with an edge!!! Zach had some upside once upon a time.

He's been pretty good this year. But it would not shock me if we went in another direction, like giving away some more 2nd and 1st rounders for free.

The suns need somebody that can score the ball off the bench. Hayward is hurt plus he has 30m next year. Now with the suns so far over the cap - as many have said - not trading for expirings would be smart. That said Russell would be a nice 6th man option

Yeah! Even with him struggling more than usual, and you still have fans saying .........................Get this guy off our team. I honestly can't wait for Ayton to be traded for these same people to finally see how truly good we'll be without his presence, easy scoring opportunities and efficiency. And the gravity he affords our shooters. The hindsight responses and rationalizations should be very entertaining and comical.

He is playing the best ball of his career. This would be something we'd look at if we parted with Ayton for a guard or forward.

Ayton is putting up career lows in

1. steals
2. blocks
3. total rebounds
4. on-off
5. PER

As well as career highs in

turnovers
usage

His measly increase for career highs in free throws and assists is meaningless. Varlock filtering numbers to justify there are only two other players in the NBA with numbers like Ayton is meaningless. Here's my spin:

FiveThirtyEight raptor score for centers with at least 1120 minutes played

#1 of 33 Jokic at 13.3 total raptor
#4 of 33 Sabonis at 4.2 total raptor
#31 of 33 Ayton at -4.9 total raptor

Ayton is a money pit who quit playing defense after he got his bag

Return to Phoenix Suns
