I don't think we will sign someone like JR Smith...he needs to go to competitive team. Wes Johnson...I don't know...maybe if he will sign for minimum or something.

I imagine we will fill as many positions as possible with rookies or undrafted free agents. No need for this team to sign any high priced free agents. We are obviously going to dump Gortat at some point, probably Scola and Dudley, and perhaps Dragic.

Who do you think will be the future starting SG on this team?
Before tonight I could have gave you a plethora of starting 5's that will probably work out just as well as Alex Len. I think SG is one of the most bereft of talent positions in the NBA right now and we let slip a potential allstar at the position for another ho-hum Center. I would have rather sign Gortat to an outrageous contract and signed McLemore if we couldn't trade for someone like Adams. Just super disappointed.

JR SMITH!

If they get rid of Dragic and Dudley... I don't even know. I don't think I'd have anyone left to really cheer for on the team. I hope they prove me wrong, and get some quality players that are worth cheering for.... but right now it's not looking great.

Alex will lead us to the promise land. Mark my words, he's the real deal.

So, we need a shooting guard and possibly a small forward, and we draft two centers, and a SG we want to run point? Oh, and get another SG, who can't shoot. :o

Wow, not sure how I feel about this right now.

I completely forgot about Oriakhi but I actually like this pick. He was good on UConn before Drummond showed up and pushed him out of the paint. He's a bruiser in the paint, not a very athletic player, but he's strong and can bully people.

Must mean some shenanigans are on the horizon for FA/Gortat/Scola/Dudley.

Well realistically we need everything. So I am fine with BPA and I hope our staff is right about their evaluations.

I like this pick. Maybe I'll go back and watch the UA/UConn elite 8 game that knocked UA out of the tourney two years ago because Derrick Williams got into foul trouble. From a different perspective.

Question to all. Are there any teams in the WC you wouldn't completely swap rosters with? The only one that I can even think of as a possibility is the Mavs, but at least they have Dirk and massive cap space.

The one second-round pick Olshey isn't discussing is Grant Jerrett so assume he's on the move

This brothers and first name patterns will all make sense soon. The Suns are just experimenting with chemistry to form a perfect solution.

Not really. We currently have a starting center, who isn't nearly as bad as our revolving door at starting SG. I don't mind the guys we picked so much, but if we have to use Brown in any way shape or form, because we fill our biggest hole, I'll be pissed.

I guess I was hoping for a shooting guard who could really shoot. :dontknow:

While I agree that we need ALMOST everything. I don't believe that PG is a position of need for us. We have a very good starter with a more than adequete backup. I think it really is too bad we couldn't shore up the back court for the future with this draft and then follow up with the front court with next year's draft and free agency.

I'm a little surprised with the Len pick, unless there is a trade coming (most likely involving Scola) hence no word of a trade yet. I foresee a deal with Portland, but not for LMA necessarily, but Gortat heading that way. I love the Goodwin pick, and definitely like the late Oriakhi pick. Some have said Goodwin compares favorably to Westbrook and Tyreke Evans. I'd take either at this point for the Suns. Fingers crossed we get so lucky. Oriakhi, I see him as a Sullinger/Blair type PF for us. Can use either hand and uses his body well to grab rebounds. I sure hope there is at least one trade the Suns have going that hasn't been announced yet though.

Anyone know the official statement on the Suns-Warriors trade? At one point, it was thought that the trade was the #29 pick (Warriors) for the #30 pick (Suns) plus cash. Then it was reported that Malcolm Lee, who the Warriors picked up from the Twolves in purchasing the #26 pick (which was subsequently traded to OKC for the #29 pick and cash), was re-rerouted to the Suns.

So, that would make the trade Malcolm Lee plus the #29 pick to the Suns to the #30 pick. But that doesn't make much sense. There were tweets indicating that the Suns had included the #57 pick in this trade, but so far, I have not seen an official statement supporting that claim.

Well assuming that the rebuild will take three years I wouldn't consider Gortat at 29 our C for the future and he won't be cheap to re-sign. I would love him as a backup at 32, but will it be a good contract for a backup then? I doubt it.

So while I agree that the immediate need would have been a SG, none available would have made us a playoff team anyways. So why not see the bigger picture and go BPA?

NBA TV Draft Review panel all agreed and liked Len's potential going forward...They all agreed he is further than Hibbert in his growth at the time he (Hibbert) was drafted.

Return to Phoenix Suns
