I hate that they took Josh Green. This dude was made to defend Devin Booker.

Well.... that was a subtle let down after weeks/mos build up. Guess the next tiny avenue of entertainment is signing a few undrafted dudes (yawn) .... then the rumor mill will get crankin up about FAs, trades, and such. May be all along we have a Barnes S+T deal lined up to teeter the hohum draft totter. Was an ok night I guess, board-fun wise.....except for the true story GM scorching by theJ. Ouch.

Yeah, total amateur.

He might be an outstanding "editorial/opinion" writer but does his Columbia degree make him an expert in NBA front office management, an area where his experience is limited? Tucker Carlson, Rachel Maddow, Zach Lowe ... experts at opining.

Windhorst reported the same thing. Jones is miles better than McDonough but he has had some headscratchers.

Look I'm not saying Jones is perfect. Definitely struck out on Jerome. But guys like Windhorst and Lowe are getting paid to provide content to consumers. People can't believe everything they write is fact, much like we see on CNN or FOX. Often they write what they feel and probably don't spend nearly as much time watching or thinking about the Suns as our fans on this board.

Would it have been nice to have had our second-round pick or the Bucks/Celtics pick? Sure. Do I really care? No, because odds are late firsts and second-round picks just don't pan out that often. The last one that worked out for us was Dragic and we got him from the Spurs. Honestly, what happens next in free agency will be way more important to me than this draft. If Jones can find a quality veteran to backup up Paul and Booker he will get an A+ from me for this offseason.

Think Dallas has done a great job. Josh Green, Tyrell Terry and Tyler Bey. Also added Josh Richardson. Surrounding Luka with a bunch really good talent that fits.

Ive never really understood the desire (by anyone) to tweet these picks 90seconds before Silver announces it. Like whats the point? Who benefits? Are they just flexing for no reason?

Well, I liked Clarke...I did like JJJ and had him basically tied with Trae at 3 that year.

So the Celtics took Nesmith and Bane.

I wonder if anyone was expecting a trade to be announced after Bane was taken "The Phoenix Suns trade the rights to Jalen Smith to the Boston Celtics for the rights to Aaron Nesmith and Desmond Bane".

It is odd to see so many Suns fans on twitter....some of the big fans like this Max guy who did or does a podcast with IVPointPlay said he didn't even know who it was..when the pick was announced.

I imagine that's why a couple here are so upset...they didn't read our draft threads much and probably didn't know who he was either.

Of course with Ghost of Kleine around here, we have the opportunity to look at every single guy in detail right in the thread.

But we discussed Jalen Smith for quite a while...when evaluating the PFs in that range.

I was wondering if anyone was drafted that Ghost didn't mention.

I did notice a guy got drafted named "Scrub"...not a good NBA name. I didn't recall GoK mentioning him.

I'm concerned about the long-term upside of this team. Plenty to look forward to this season, but CP3 is 35, and going to fall off soon. The league today means having a multitude of good wings and guards. Booker, Bridges and Cam are great, but we have nobody behind them. This draft gave us the opportunity to add Haliburton or Vassell (probably the best guard and wing prospects in the draft), and we passed on both. I really hope this doesn't come to bite us.

Smith is not going to bust, but man I'd have been feeling pretty good today if we'd landed Haliburton as our third guard behind CP3 and Booker.

It's going to be a real kick in the ol' beanbag if we play the Grizz in the play in tournament, And they somehow knock us out of the playoffs. That's going to really put things in perspective huh?...lol :banghead: :banghead:

I don't either. Unless you really can't watch the telecast, it's just a huge spoiler..and dumb...it's especially dumb that if you can't do it first, you do it at all. If Shams was behind Woj, he should have just stopped....there is probably no one (or an extremely limited # of people) who follow Shams and don't follow Woj. And then Gambo on top of it...there probably are some Suns fans on twitter that follow Gambo though and not those guys...there are a lot of Suns fans on twitter....all kinds.

I believe Bane is going to Memphis. Boston got Nesmith, Pritchard, and Madar.

The long term upside of this team is tied to Booker/Ayton. They've fully committed to building around those two. I think you have to be very into those guys to be into the upside of the team.

Yeah, I would be ecstatic with Haliburton...Paul being injured and the post Paul era worries me...this would have alleviated that...and having Payne and Carter as backups, as good as they were in the bubble, they don't inspire a lot of confidence as your key reserves if you are in a playoff series.

I don't mind the Jalen Smith pick at all though..Ayton will get in foul trouble..we will need that backup big that isn't Saric...you don't want Saric as the last line of defense if Ayton is injured or in foul trouble.

I would have preferred Vassell too, but I'm fine with Smith over him moreso because I really like Bridges and I like Cam. Vassell was a bit duplicitous, and we will run some lineups with a true PF giving us both of them at the 3.

I was a fan of Toppin, and Jalen Smith has a lot of similarities but is a better defender.

Mavs had the best draft. Green, Terry, Bey, Hinton + Josh Richardson
