You guys check advanced stats AT ALL? IT is not the problem with this team. Stop sucking dragon-dick.

He's the only reason we had a shot of winning that Memphis game. Scored 16+ in the 4th.

Unlike you, most of us actually watch the games. Be offended all you want. But what your little advanced stats dont show is how he gets abused by larger/bigger (that qualifies as pretty much every NBA player) and that is not going to show up on your stats. What also doesnt show up on your stats is how everyone off of the ball just stands around and watches IT when he has the ball. I can keep going.

Stats can lie. If you watch football, you will know that Big Dan Williams stats are not eye popping but he changes an entire defense. Stats also dont show how a simple players presence can change a lot of how the game is played. Alex Len for example is very tall, mobile, and athletic which helps him protect the rim which discourages players to even think about coming into the lane. Again another thing your little stats cant and wont show.

Your little advanced stats arent be all, end all. Stats especially advanced stats are a tool but should never ever be your "be all, end all,'

Game tape dont lie!!!!!

HOMIE, I've missed two games this season - HOU and GS. Other than that, I've seen every second of Suns ball. And apparently you can't see past your own bias. He DOES NOT get abused by bigger players, MUCH TO MY SURPRISE. He's (usually) a fighter on defense. I've been very impressed by his D.

Oh, and stats show that kind of thing too - not that I've looked for that particular attribute, confident as I am that the stats will back me up.

You is a foo, homie.

If you want to talk about getting abused on D, Dragic is among the league's worst 2's on that end. BURNED!! OWNED!!!

Well I was commenting on Thomas, I was not commenting on dragic. But we can talk about dragic too, I guess.

First let me say I am a Suns fan. Far as I'm concerned everyone is expendable and that includes dragic. Dragic is currently not playing up to the standards which he set last year when he was near all-star level. Dragic is playing out of position and often looks upset/confused while playing this year. I don't see the intensity level that he displayed played with last year which is disappointing. So yes, dragic is not playing great this year and he too has flaws.

Butttttt...dragic flaws are not as bad as how bad IT hurts this team.

Too bad, he's a restricted FA. Unless NYK offers him a deal that doesn't get matched, he's staying with whoever has his bird rights.

I can't see NYK signing him because him and Melo would be redundant, their very similar.

If we knew we could resign him to a fair deal (not Parsons-Hayward deals) i'd jump on it.

Who would offer that? Harris can ball and his D really improved

We would need to open some space, both monetarily and positionally, so maybe a trade like this:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=pvgfq32

If we were able to trade Tucker and his contract, which is actually pretty decent, it frees up enough room to sign Harris @ $11-12M, and frees up a spot at SF. So we trade IT, Plumlee, and PJ, for O'Quinn, Gordon, and Harris.

Otherwise, we end up with even a bigger logjam at the 3 than we already have with PJ, Mook, Green, and Warren. This would allow us, presuming we don't keep Green at season's end, a SF depth of Harris, Mook, and Warren. Also gives us some much needed depth at PF with O'Quinn, Kieff, and Wright.

At first I thought you meant Aaron Gordon and I was gonna ask you if you were high

But yea I do like it. We would need a strong defensive player at either starting SG, starting PF, or in 6th man role though.

Seeing recent posts, I turn down the co-founder status of IT's Fan Club until cosmofizzo learns to behave :P

IT reduces the FG% of the guy he is defending by 2%. http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/202738/tracking/defense/

He has very similar numbers to Dragic and Bledsoe on Opp FG% when he is On/Off the court, same for 3PT%. He is in between Dragic and Bledsoe when it comes to forcing turnovers. Only defensive bad stat is that lineups where he plays tend to foul more, but he also draws more fouls than both Dragic and Bledsoe.

He is quite good at staying in front of his man, cause he has a strong body, is fast, and uses his small size to escape screens. He'd obviously would have issues if he were defending a post-up, but he seems to be able to at least put a hand on the face of his opponent every time he pulls up for a shot.

I actually think that tape and stats tell similar story about IT. He is not a burden on defense. His flaws are mostly on offense (as in reducing flow, and some bad decision-making), but he has been improving as the team plays more together.

Thomas is a Jason Terry clone, but with a chip on his shoulder... So he is motivated to prove people wrong. At his salary he is fine.

Hence I think McD maybe discussing trades with Dragic the last month or so.

Sorry. Got emotional when I saw a bandwagon forming for the idea that we should trade IT for scraps. Decided a flamethrower was needed. But your stats are at least as effective.  :banghead:

I agree with everything you said, but I feel like you missed one thing..

Having a great year doesn't set a standard. He's been well above average the past handful of years, and one year where he was an all-star. That doesn't make him a perennial all-star. Lot's of players go off for a year and tail off. Dragic, in my opinion, won't ever get back to that all-star status, and is not (never was in my opinion) worth a max deal. The only reason he get's one is 1.) a team might get desperate and 2.) the TV deal makes it easier to swallow.

TL:DR

One all-star year doesn't make you a perennial all-star.

Dragic is so much easier to trade. There are actually teams that want him. Have inquired..

Have you read/heard of one call for IT ????

There is a reason for that.

I don't think he's been well above average the past handful of years, far from it IMO and he's never actually made the all star team. He's had one good season and he almost made the all star team doing it. Other than that he's been somewhere between average and scrub. This season is easily his second best year.
