Mayby. It's not my rating just how most of mocks looks like.

It would be cool if we get Winslow. Just to have Goodwin and Winslow on one team

Mudiay is a big question mark, but Ford says a handful of GMs have their top 3 as Towns, Mudiay and Porzingis.

Let's hope this is just early rankings... Ford isn't reliable either.

He's unofficially a 76er already. Hopefully they get the 1st or 2nd pick which pushes Okafor or Towns to #3 causing all kinds of madness. I think LA could pass on a center for Mudiay if they're third.

He may be relaying lies, but I don't think he lies on what he reports that GMs say. I think consensus if you averaged all the GMs thoughts that they have told him is

Towns
Okafor
Russell
Mudiay
Porzingis/Winslow

But I know he's said Mudiay is as high as two on lists and Porzingis as high as 3 (I assume these are GMs who strictly see things in Okafor and Russell's games they don't like).

I think Ford is a crap analyst, and I don't even think he is that good of a scout himself, but I think he has pretty good access to GMs and team scouts, and as long as he doesn't blow their cover, he should continue to get it. I also doubt that if one GM or scout steered him the wrong away every time, if he would continue to use that guy as a good source.

Yeah, he's like Broussard. People use them to manipulate the others GM's.
I'm glad Pelton is stepping up and in the future he'll make Ford an unemployed (I know, i'm a dreamer  )

I just ignore Ford's opinions ESPECIALLY when it comes to what he thinks teams should do, but if he can get thoughts and lists from team scouts and GMs and make a big board out of it and different mocks when the draft order is made, then I don't care who relays it.

However, if there is some diamond in the rough that a team scout and GM think is flying under the radar, I seriously doubt they would tell Ford and that is when a shocking pick like Bruno last year comes into play.

Or if a team has a guy that is ranked like 12th in all the mocks, like 5th on their board, they won't tell him....like Cleveland with Waiters and Bennett being suprisingly taken high by, of all people, David Griffin.

I remember him mocking Waiters at #4 just days before the draft... it came after that famous hollinger's piece comparing waiters to wade

Chad Ford have access to inside information for sure, he has broken a ton of news the las few years.
Like a scout he is average at best in my opinion.

Maybe he did...I do remember him saying that one team was REALLY high on Waiters. Then he seemed to be somewhat surprised it was Cleveland that took him iirc.

I think McD&Hornacek are going to love Cliff Alexander. He's a special player.
- good offensive game, tries to dunk everything, has some serious potential as a shooter (gorgeous mechanics)
- has all the defensive tools but need to be coached up
- elite offensive rebounder
- intangibles guy like Draymond -> elite trait that McD&Hornacek are looking for.

If Turner is gone, I think he's the best high upside guy available.
Portis is my highest rated PF right now, he's a more safer bet... but I think this discussion will be tough for them.

Anyone know who the best pure shooter is in this draft? I don't know if I see one?

Booker is the best pure shooter.
Harvey is the best scorer.

In one week, Alex Len will represent the Suns at the draft lottery. He was the fifth pick two years ago.

Cliff Alexander reminds me players like Thomas Robinson or Patrick Young.....I would pass.

I hope the top three draft picks are NY, Philly and Orlando, with the Twolves at 4 and the Lakers at 5. Unless of course we jump up to top 3. That way best players go to other conference.

Though its headquarters are in New York, the NBA epicenter this week is Chicago, where representatives from all 30 teams, including twhe Phoenix Suns, converge for the annual pre-draft combine.

General Manager Ryan McDonough will lead a contingent that includes members of the front office, scouts and head coach Jeff Hornacek as well as head athletic trainer Aaron Nelson.

Rondae and Oubre w/ a 7'2 wingspan
Stanley measured ok (6'6 6'11) but with 241lbs
Dekker has a bigger wingspan than Frank the Tank (but he's a legit 7'1)
Lyles had a bad day (7'1 wing w/ a high 12% body fat)
Wood surprised me with a 15% BF (barely weigh in 216lbs - this is really bad)
Cliff showed why he's a great athlete (239lbs under 6% BF - amazing)

but the biggest winner was Upshaw (7'0 7'5 9'5" standing reach).
He's a surefire 1st round lock right now, even with his really bad background
People were mad for letting Gobert slide... they wont do it again if Upshaw can explain his situation in the interviews.

Cauley-Stein will be a good NBA player after 1 NBA season, the guy "gets it", he know how to play within his limits. The type of big man I would like next to Len, to see if they can form a twin tower lineup... Len would need to be able to hit jumpshots from 7+ feet though.

Myles Turner was also on my radar.

Both will likely go top 7 now.

Return to Phoenix Suns
