When I lived just north of LA, I always liked going to Hollywood. There are some cool music venues in that area.

Yeah he'd be a logical choice. One positive for all us Laker haters is after Davis signs his monster extension this summer the cap math of adding another max player gets kind of tricky with him and Bron at a gigantic number. Last summer was the easiest route to that and it's why I'm very happy they didn't land Leonard.Fo-Real wrote:Ben Simmons is the next dude who will push his way to the Lakers!!!

Yp. Thats whats going to happen. James Jones and Monty are going to swoop in and steal AD away from the Lakers!
Ha. If only we still had JerryC. This would be a realistic idea.

I didn't realize it was that bad. The thread on the Cavs board is enlightening. It's not fun tanking/"developing young players" especially if you are a veteran.
I also didn't realize Garland is seen as a bust by some of them -- I thought he was a good bet at the draft. Der.
Even though they've seen championships and had good teams I empathize with their current pain. They are at the tank and gamble stage just like we were and mostly lost at.

Their problem is they drafted two guys in back to back draft who are quite similar in profile. Both underwhelming playmakers, poor defenders, has more of a scorers mindset and neither are big for their position so when you start them both, you have two guys who can't play defense, always wants to score and has little synergy with each other.
From a team perspective, they should've traded away their veterans the moment they decided they would tank and not sign Love to that massive extension. It's like, instead of rebuilding, they somehow accidentally retooled by adding talented young players with the vets. Except the vets don't want to play with guys who don't pass (Garland/Sexton) and they brought in a rebuilding coach to coach a team that still has a handful of guys who still want to compete. When Love had that tantrum earlier in the season where he was waiting for a play to be run and Sexton just dribbled the air out of the ball, I legit feel sorry for him.
It's a complete **** show over there.

Bickerstaff must watch head coaching hires and think "This guy won't last long...I'm going to give him a call and tell him I'd love to be his top assistant while getting cozy with the players and front office".

I thought for sure they would take Culver. They had tons of wings and bigs, a shoot first PG, and could have used more of a defensive, shot creator at the 2. Culver isn't a good shooter but he can play D and pass. That would have been a much better backcourt fit. I know Minny wanted Garland too, who I would say might be a better fit with DLo but they need defense with DLo and Towns so maybe not.

Garland and Sexton are a bad fit and have been since the get go... But in a way I kind of give the Cavs a pass on that because drafting for fit when you're that early in a rebuild can really get you in trouble too. If they felt Garland was the best player available I get not letting Colin f-ing Sexton get in the way especially since he wasn't exactly great as a rookie. But one of them should probably be traded this offseason.bwgood77 wrote:lilfishi22 wrote:DroughtsOverPHX wrote:I didn't realize it was that bad. The thread on the Cavs board is enlightening. I say shame on everyone involved with the love situation. Bad on the Cavs for just assuming they could trade that contract for actual good assets and for pretending they wanted to stay competitive. But shame on love too, he knew what the reality of their situation was but didn't hesitate to take the money. I don't feel bad for either side.
Now the coaching hire was just idiotic, some old school college dude was just a dumb choice.

I agree with not letting Sexton dictate drafting decisions but man, they knew it was going to be an awful fit yet they still went ahead. But when you do that, you're basically doing both guys a disservice.WeekapaugGroove wrote:Garland and Sexton are a bad fit and have been since the get go... Koby Altman is such a scrub GM. I feel like I can say that because of our experience with McD

They were the team that should have rolled the dice on Porter in the 2018 draft. Start it the rebuild so why not shoot for the highest upside guy on the board?lilfishi22 wrote:I agree with not letting Sexton dictate drafting decisions but man, they knew it was going to be an awful fit yet they still went ahead. I'm watching Heat vs Hawks and it just reminds me of how much I like seeing Dragic play. Dragic would be such a better fit than Rubio. I wouldn't be surprised if we would be in play off conversation if Dragic was still on this team.

Trae Young dropped career high 50 pts on the Heat. After all that **** Spo was talking about how he made All Star team as a starter over Butler, it was sweet poetic justice.
Love to see it.

That was crazy. And they won (without Capela) against a healthy Heat team.
