Pels trade was out of the blue. Who knows we could have a chance at Boogie in FA.

Hmmm...Sounds like the Kings gave a big F-U to Cousins. We WILL NOT give you a supermax. We WILL NOT trade you to the team of your choice. We WILL trade you to whoever WE want and SCREW you out of 50 million!

This. This got ugly between Boogie and the Kings.

Seems like Pelicans didn't pay full value for Cousins. Any chance they took him without a guarantee he resigns? I know it's not likely because Cousins would've given up A LOT more money by becoming a FA.

They could have gotten Hield if they traded up from 8 to 6 last year and still have Cousins!

What can the Pelicans offer him? What can other teams?

The underlying plot here...Boogie now has to build trust/loyalty with a new team in 6-18 months and may only get marginally more money then if he signs with another team?

If he and AD don't mesh...

So uh how do the Pelicans compete still?
They got Solomon Hill, Omer Asik, E'Twaun Moore locked up til 19-20 season making 30mil. Cousins and AD will likely make at least 50mil combined. Jrue Holiday is a free agent and will likely get 18mil a year. How do they build this team?!?!

They don't/can't, but they still did as well as they possibly could. They got Cousins for almost nothing, and at some point they will have to hope they can dump some of those horrible contracts.

Holiday's cap hold makes it almost impossible for them to extend Boogie this summer though. Maybe they move Holiday to get out from under these other contracts and try to build in FA.

They've got Holiday, Davis, Cousins that's a top 6 trio.

I didn't even want cousins but that trade makes me a little irked that we didn't get him.

You know there is a salary cap right? And that NO is at that limit right now with just Cousins. Even if they traded for Bledsoe somehow and sent out equal money to do it, there is no way on earth they could ever max out Hayward.

No doubt. Forgot about their crappy contracts.

Not sure how they'll turn out but will be fascinating to watch.

Hield grabs/caresses Cousins' junk last week. Vlade sees that and says "I like that. I'm really high on this kid now. I'll do whatever it takes to make him mine", and by god, he did whatever it took. Good for you for chasing your dreams and making them a reality, Vlade.

Yeah I'm kinda gettin that feeling too. We'll see if anything comes out from our front office about it. Just feels like Booker would be 'the guy' for the Kings since he has a million comparisons to Klay Thompson (however accurate or inaccurate those are).

Booker will be better than Thompson. I see Booker as the next Kobe. I'm glad McD didn't do it. Time to trade Bled and fire up full Tank mode. Let's get Fultz, no Ball please.

Yeah I reckon I'll throw my hat in the tank ring now. I've been a non-tanker since we lost Amare in free agency but we haven't done jack **** since. We're not winning with Bledsoe and nobody will sign with us because we didn't get Cousins. George, Butler and Wall have absolutely no reason to consider us in free agency. I can see us sucking for another three years at the very least. It's time. We have Booker so let's commit to him and the other young guns.
