As long as it's not stupid impatient move I'm ok with whoever we will get. Not hoping for anyone so I won't be disappointed.

Wow, that is interesting. I'm surprised they are telling him who likes who. Sounds pretty specific to not be true. I honestly would have thought McD likes Isaac..and I was going to say that Watson likes Jackson, but now that I think of it, I could see Watson liking Isaac instead because of the great character thing. I also would have thought Sarver would have been more on a guy like Jackson.

It depends on what was asked. Sometimes reporters can ask certain questions and take those answers to mean something else.

haven't been this excited for a draft in some time... Wouldn't be upset with drafting Tatum, Jackson, Fox, or Isaac. Like we are in such a good spot. Obviously with out giving up too much talent I would love to get KP.. But its a process. and I'm excited with the pieces we have...

But Im not big on either of our point guards. Can anyone make me excited about either of the two that we have?

I would love to trade for KP but honestly a part of me would be a little disappointed.. only cuz I've watched a lot of these draftees play all season and watched a lot of youtube vids analyzing them. So waiting for this day, the draft, only to trade our pick would be a little lackluster.

Great at drafting? Let's add it up:
One point for star, no point for neutral, negative one for bust/nothing. 2nd rounders and Euro players not counted.
Len/Goodwin: bust/nothing
Warren: neutral (bench player)
Ennis: nothing
Booker: star
Truthfully early but... Bender: bust
Chriss: meh - neutral
McD: -3
.

I must have missed this. This is obviously a list based upon a poster's opinion vice reality...now let's look at reality:

Great at drafting? Let's add it up:
One point for star, no point for neutral, negative one for bust/nothing. 2nd rounders and Euro players not counted.
Len: Neutral (Bust? Really? He had ONE bad season. His rookie season he was coming back from injury. '14-'15/'16-'17 he slashed 7.2/6.6 and 1.4 Blks per 21 MPG played. As I've 'clamored' time-and-again, play him 30MPG, and all of a sudden he's 10.3/9.6/2 BLKs...that's a bust?? Star, no, Neutral, yes)
Goodwin: Neutral (Drafted 29th at age 18, more MP,PTs than 6 players drafted in the 1st; higher FG% than 11)
Warren: "Neutral (bench player)" - huh, that's weird, he started 59 of 66 GP last year, guess the poster was referring to the 7 gms he didn't start. Still, a Neutral player, for now, but he's still just 23.
Ennis: nothing - Trade...doesn't count, so don't bother adding him in the equation
Booker: star
Truthfully early but... Bender: "bust" --- ummm, ok, yeah, 18YO Europlayer and we've got him pegged already, huh? Too early too tell. Neutral
Chriss: "meh" - So, that's what we call 19YO NBA starters, huh..."meh"??? OK, if you say so...still, he's Neutral

So, for the rest of us that live in reality, McD's score is actually +1, by these standards. If you insist on calling Len a "Bust" because he was drafted 5th, and have put up these stats, then half the top 10 that year are busts. But ok, then McD is Even so far.

Again, Len's 3rd season was asked to be something he's not, and his play suffered. This past season, he was played more within his capabilities, and his play improved.

McD: -3??? yeah, right...ok

Thanks, NavLDO for the breakdown. I agree with you and it is why I'm still here year after year. We have a hell of a community on our board.

TheXgasm wrote:I realize this has been talked about ad nauseum on this board, but does anyone think we're all severely undervaluing Bender? He's got amazing skills for his size and had a rookie transition period at 18 years old that included an injury. I'm not saying he's Porzingis or ever going to be Porzingis, but everyone is so quick to dump him and basically act like he's throwaway trash at 19 years old. He's still younger than half of this draft.

Oh yeah, I think most severely undervalue him.

Word. The national media is worse. They haven't watched Suns games; they know Bender's stats and they watched him play in SL. Having watched every minute of Bender's play this season, I can say there are several attributes that make him unique, but primarily his intelligence and quickness. Passes and shots fly out of his hands very fast. And on defense, he's a few years ahead of most players. My biggest concerns with Bender are position and Ulis, who doesn't appear very eager to share the ball with him. Seems to me Ulis has formed a clique that does not include Bender - and I'm not sure Watson is doing anything to stop that rift from developing. That's something the FO needs to be on top of, IMO.

This might be a good read...I posted this well before we drafted him....and there are probably more draft and prospect experts on the NBA Draft board so I posted it there. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1442361

To make is short, he's small but feisty and his size doesn't mean he's a bad defender. He was actually DPOY of the SEC last year. And he is a GREAT passer...had one of the best ast/to ratios in all of basketball, and I think historically good. He didn't play much until the end of the year and looked really good. He's also long time best friends with Booker, so drafting a PG to play ahead of Ulis might not sit particularly well with either.

If you're referring to Eric and Brandon, probably not. But Ulis? Just watch the game, homie. Dude is a stud.

Me too. If I was GM, and KP passed the medical tests, and it was Chriss holding up the deal, he really can't be the hold up.

I love Chriss but just from a realistic value perspective, you have to pull the trigger on that. Sure chemistry is disrupted but you're almost without a doubt getting the best player in the trade now and with the highest upside.

But it will make the draft more boring.

I'm fine not doing it if we end up with Jackson or Isaac. If we don't do it and end up with Fox I will be very disappointed. If we end up with Tatum I will be slightly disappointed.

That's my primary concern with drafting Fox. But I've held fast to the idea that perhaps Fox and Ulis can share the backcourt, too. Even if Ulis is our long-term starter (by no means a given), we will still need a high-caliber third guard to run with those two. You would want that player to be a great defender and athlete - Fox checks one of those boxes and might check the second. We'll see what happens. Fox is a possibility if and only if we have a deal lined up for Bled.

Hopefully it is not true that rumor about trading Porzingins to the Suns if the value is THAT high.

Marquesse Chriss, #4 (Josh Jackson) and Bledsoe?! Come on...no, no and NO.

#4 and Bledsoe + future picks are enough.

I agree with most of what you say here except position being a concern with Bender. I know we played him at the 3 last year and some project and hope he can be a 5 in time which he might be. It seems very clear to me and always has that he's a 4. I know positionless basketball being what it is today means we play him wherever but we drafted two 4's last year and I think both will hit instead of miss which isn't the worst problem in the world.

The guy is a legit source, I would think. I would not put too much stock into it but on the same token he's not some random Twitter guy with no connections.

Haha..... weeks ago we was saying trade bled draft Fox and Collins. Now it's as likely as anything else.

I think McDo wants the duo lottos again. And if he uses Bles to accomplish that, all bets off on who we take at 4.

PS.... 'we' being a select few 8-)

I feel pretty much the same but I'm Jackson>Tatum>Isaac.

I really like what Bledsoe has done for us, but I'd do that deal so fast.

I sure wish there was a way to keep #4 in a trade for Porzingins. If its Bledsoe and Chriss, then we will need a pg. Its just that Bender and Zinger are slightly redundant (Bender being the much lesser one). Future Suns picks, Miami picks. Whatever.

We would have to pick up a pg in free agency. Ulis sure would get his shot though. BK would even have an opening to turn it around.

Return to Phoenix Suns
