Would like to see him get a steady 30 mins a night even if it means playing through foul trouble. His rebounding can also be improved but defensively he's showing ton of promise.

Same here. I don't even care if he fouls out in 26-28 mins in a cpl games. At least he gets experience in those situations as well (playing while in foul trouble). The more he plays, the better he gets, and the more the teammates will look for him down low.

That's f***ing ridiculous.
Granted he hasn't played against many good offensive centers but still.

Re: Alex Len and his future
Len is a beast. I'm still wondering with all of our PGs why Len doesn't get the ball on the pick and roll. There has been many times where he's been open yet we swing the ball around. Maybe he's taking bad angles to the basket. I can't see why Len can't be utilized the same way Amare was with Nash.

Re: Alex Len and his future
After watching back some of his games, Len doesn't have to be 20ppg center to be an all-star... His main impact is altering shots and defense oriented plays.
I really love his potential to be a DPOY candidate if he keeps improving.

Re: Alex Len and his future
I think Len could ALSO be a 20 PPG scorer, fwiw.
... And it's worth 20 PPG.

Would be cool if someone put together a highlight of all of Len's blocks this season.

I agree he should be getting more touches on the roll. I think part of the problem is our guards need to be a little more patient in letting him set the pick, they seem to go too early on about half of them.Qwigglez wrote:Len is a beast. Man he's been good defensively. the sky's the limit on that side of the floor as he learns to stay down on fakes and gains some respect from the refs. He has the size, athleticism, toughness, and work ethic to be truly an elite defender. Love how he boxes out. I think he'll only get better as a rebounder as he gets a better feel for the game with more minutes.

Agreed. At the same time, are they even looking for Len on the roll? Not even a hesitation to pass to Len, they just simply don't hit him.
I think the sky's the limit for him offensively as well he just isn't being utilized yet. He's scoring 8-10 points off of put backs and garbage buckets alone. Imagine when he starts getting post-ups, pick and rolls, a couple of mid-range jumpers. He can easily be a 14-16 PPG player by the 2nd half of the this season. I can only imagine how well he is gonna play next season.

The team should really get him going at the start of every game, i can see him easily grabbing 6-8 points in the beginning minutes of the first quarter if our PGs Spoon feed him some buckets, you want him to get more and more comfortable with that, so he can be a deadly threat in crunch time.

I'm all for Len getting as many minutes as he can handle. I wonder if they are simply being careful with his ankles and have him on a bit of a minutes cap for the year. He's an important piece and it's more about the long term with him than this season. Even in the perspective of this season they are probably trying to avoid the rookie wall since with the time missed last year this is really his first true crack at an NBA season.

Re: Alex Len and his future
The Suns would have to modify their system to get Len additional touches.
Right now he is merely there cleaning up missed shots, receiving drop down passes within 3-4 feet.
He doesn't get or rarely gets any ISO plays down low... Suns could replicate Spurs or Grizzlies on how they get the ball to their big men inside and get the flow from in to out. But Len is still just adjusting..
Make him comfortable defensively first and then once he has proven he can avoid foul trouble start giving him ISO plays to see how he can create.

Re: Alex Len and his future
Len is scary.
He is huge, plays great defense, is quick for his size, has a consistent mid range jump shot and showed last night that he has great passing ability as well.
His improvement from not knowing where to stand in preseason is amazing.

Whoa whoa whoa. Everyone knows you don't learn anything by playing. All the education happens in practice. Or with the coaching staff. Or haven't you been reading the "Develop Our Young Players" thread?
