Re: Fantasy Leagues - if playing vote on 12, 13 or 14 team leagues in the thread
Wow 4 leagues is pretty crazy, are we gonna have that many people? If so, good for us, but man I hope that everyone is gonna be active.
My personal vote would just be that all leagues were 14 people (and I'm in China League whichever way you cut it), but I'm not super adamant about that I Just tend to like the distribution of players and the free agent challenge a little more with that league size. Really rewards paying more attention and active management of your team.

Right now we have 45, or 44 without JDiddy, assuming everyone else from last year plays again. So with 12 team leagues, that means we only need 3 or 4 more, or we have a smaller China league. Did you finish near the bottom of the china league?
If they were 14 team leagues, three leagues would add up to 42 players, so right now 2 or 3 people would be left out.
It seems like we have 4 or 5 people who want 14, about the same who want 12, but looking at the link Kerrsed posted from last year it looks like more liked 12.
Meeting in the middle at 13 might be the best bet, but it depends on the number of players. If we get up to 52 people, we could have 4 13 team leagues. If we have 50, we could have the top two at 13, and the bottom two at 12. Generally, upper tier leagues have more teams because you have to be a more savvy player to win against the best players, so making it a little tougher makes sense.
So I guess it ultimately depends on the number of teams. If we get 46 players though, we could add one team to each league as you go up, to make every step up a little tougher. 10 at China, 11 at Euro, 12 at D, and 13 at Premier.

Ah, sorry, I missed the full list. Well that's awesome that we have that level of interest!
Seems like we're at 4 leagues then either way. No, I was in D-League and got demoted, was in last place even though I actively managed throughout the season. Just one of those drafts that couldn't be recovered from even with some good FA pickups.
Whatever happens with the league structures, I'm planning on promoting up through the ranks over the next couple seasons here...

Its cool to have this much interest, but as stated above, managers must be ACTIVE throughout the season and especially during the draft, otherwise it ruins the league.
Extremely excited to play this season. Even more excited to see Sunskerr's annual "trade for Westbrook" proposals.

Re: Fantasy Leagues - mostly about basketball, but if you want to play fantasy football with fellow Suns fans, chime in
OK, so far the votes are a pretty clear 7-3 tally in favor of 14 teams over 12.
Prefer 14 : DRK, TASTIC, b-ball forever, Zero Tolerance, batsmasher, Ulquiorra, Miklo.
Prefer 12 : Kerrsed, MathiasPW, WeekapaugGroove.
Don't care or want 13 : Superhuman, wheezy, nevetsov, bwgood77 (not sure, maybe he changed his mind).
So according to the votes it looks like we should be going with 14 man leagues, at least the for Premier League and D-League that is. In the lower leagues I guess having less teams isn't as problematic as having 12 teams in the D-League was last year, since the skill level there isn't as high. So if we get enuf peeps then having smaller lower leagues wouldn't be a problem.
That being said not everybody from last year will be back, so far we haven't even got enuf guys who showed up for 3 leagues of 14 teams...
Reason the D-league also needs to be at more than 12 is cuz looking at last years drafts, the D-League managers actually did a smarter job than the Premier League managers :
Comparison of last years drafts (PREMIER LEAGUE / D-LEAGUE). Top 20 picks
1. Kevin Durant / Kevin Durant
2. LeBron James / Anthony Davis
3. Anthony Davis / LeBron James
4. Steph Curry / Steph Curry
5. Chris Paul / James Harden
6. James Harden / Chris Paul
7. Carmelo Anthony / Russell Westbrook
8. DeMarcus Cousins / Carmelo Anthony
9. John Wall / DeMarcus Cousins
10. Russell Westbrook / John Wall
11. Kevin Love / Kevin Love
12. Serge Ibaka / LaMarcus Aldridge
13. Damian Lillard / Kyrie Irving
14. LaMarcus Aldridge / Serge Ibaka
15. Al Jefferson / Blake Griffin
16. Blake Griffin / Damian Lillard
17. Kyrie Irving / Al Jefferson
18. Dirk Nowitzski / Al Horford
19. Joakim Noah / Joakim Noah
20. Chris Bosh / Goran Dragic
D-Leaguers made the better choices regarding Davis, Harden, Westbrook, Kyrie, Dirk, Melo, Al Jefferson, and others. Neither of those leagues had any full ret@rd picks in the whole drafts given what was known at the time. Only the China league had some WTF picks, with Z-Bo going 26th for example !!

I'm happy to have a team in China if we need numbers, will try work my way up!

We should do a merger and have 30 teams! I pick top 5 though.
I don't mind either 12 or 14. Or even 13. Heck we could do a 11 man league.

sunskerr voted for 12 via PM (I forwarded to you as proof). I would vote 12 also, because I think it would be more competitive and injuries wouldn't be as big of a killer. We had almost zero movement in Premier last year after the first month in how the teams were ranked. I enjoy watching teams surge up, or drop, or be a closer race.
So I guess that makes it 7-5, but 13 might be the most fair, as not that many people should complain since it is meeting in the middle.

7-5 it is then. I counted u in the "doesn't care" range going off of your original post on the issue quoted below, wasn't sure if u changed your mind or not.
bwgood77 wrote:It seems we have bball forever, DRK and TASTIC wanting 14, and Mathias and Kerrsed wanting 12.
So 3-2 now. I don't really care either way. I will post a tally here. I'm guessing the majority don't care much, but some seem to have strong opinions so if you do, chime in. I think we could settle in the middle if it is pretty close to a split.
I'd prefer 14, but 13 wouldn't be bad. Better than 12, that's for sure, I just don't wanna relive the whole Marxist style clone wars "all teams equal" concept we had in the 12 man D-League last year.

Well if it was between 14 and 12, I'd probably lean 12, but since 13 is an option, and the decision is pretty split, I would vote 13. I don't think we will have enough players for 4 14 team leagues though, but it looks like we will have more than 42 players, so that would leave a 3+ out.

Hi. I'd like to join the Premier League again this year.
The online forum drafts you guys run are so addictive - the best way to do fantasy bball IMO.
I'd prefer a 12 team league to 14 as well.
Thanks for the heads-up DRK!

I trust you!
I'm just praying for a higher draft pick this year.

Last year I drafted 13th (of 14) and finished 7th & the year before that in 2013, drafted 13 (of 14) again and finished 8th, so a higher draft seed would help me finally win the Premier League.

i vote 13 if the voting is sitll open.
here are the standings from the China league last yr (too bad it's not obvious who is who from the team names):

how many promote from china league to d-league? two or three? bc we got a tie for bronze.

If we had to split between which of the 2 third placed guys get promoted, I would give the advantage to the player who had the most games played, gotta favor more active GMs.
That said, as of now it seems we're headed towards 13 players in both the premier league and d-league, with all the others in the China league.
Under that scenario, and since one of premier league members won't be returning, that would leave enuf spots for 4 promotions from China to D, and 3 relegations from D to China...

Yeah 13 seems likely to make the most people happy, or maybe it's least people upset. I like it.
Considering taking Starbury with my first round pick. We do have to pick from a pool of only CBA players, right?
