I don't think Sabonis will be available at #13. And the next guy on my board after that is Brice Johnson, whom I'd take over Chriss and Ellenson. I think that puts me in a rather extreme minority.

I think Sabonis and Johnson are both going to get knocked hard for being upperclassmen. The only team ahead of us I could see going for an upperclass big would be Toronto, in hopes of them making an immediate impact for the playoffs next season. Everyone else who would draft an older rookie would be looking at the guards, in my opinion.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Sabonis is still pretty young, even comparable to some frosh like Simmons and Skal.
Brice will be slammed hard but he's almost a sure thing to be a serviceable role player in the league.

I would take Deyonta Davis over all three of them. Brice Johnson should be more polished for a 4th year player at a major program. most of his scoring comes from dribble penetration garbage buckets and second chance opportunities, his 15 foot jumper is basically an awkward floater and he isn't effective outside the paint. To me he's like a more explosive Manimal/ Thomas Robinson energizer bunny tweener who can crash the glass and run the floor like a gazelle with questionable defensive instincts, still bites on pump fakes and fails to close out consistently. He's not gunna be the second coming of the Matrix

Ivica Zubac is considered one of the biggest prospects in Europe for the next draft. We had the opportunity to make a quick chat with him, where we talked about his decision to enter NBA draft and the upcoming post season with Mega Leks.

Zubac told us that if he'll get drafted, he'd love to go to the NBA right away.

"I have decided to enter NBA draft this year and if I get drafted, I would like to go to the NBA right away. NBA has always been my dream, I can't wait to play there and prove myself on the biggest basketball stage in the world," Zubac told Sportando.

The Croatian big-man born in 1997 started the season with Cibona Zagreb but he left the team after not getting paid properly. Then he joined Cedevita Zagreb but Croatian federation didn't allow him to play there. So he decided to move to Mega Leks in order to get ready for the NBA draft.

Zubac is currently projected as a late first-rounder in the next draft. He could be the 24th pick in the draft, according to DraftExpress mock draft, which is considered the most reliable mock draft out there.

"Zubac is one of the best big-men in this year's draft and he has very high upside," an NBA scout told Sportando. "Even though he didn't play a lot on senior level, he showed his skills and potential last summer in tournaments he played with Croatian National Teams, such as in FIBA U19 World Championship and U18 European Championship," the scout told Sportando. "I'd be very surprised if he'll fall to the second round. I think that one of those teams drafting between 20-25 will take him".

Zubac averaged 17.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game during the U19 World Championship in Greece last summer. Zubac had also amazing stats at U18 European Championships, where he averaged 15.8 points, 12.9 rebounds and 3 blocks per game.

Zubac will play in Serbian league playoffs that will start from May 7th with Mega Leks.

"I have already played some exhibition games with Mega Leks and now I'll play in the playoffs. I know that because of injuries and because of the situation with Cibona I haven't played much this season. For this reason I'd like to play in those games during playoffs rather than going to the NBA draft combine," Zubac told us.

The big-man is interested in having several workouts with teams that will show interest before the draft in the United States.

Brief interview with Zubac and his plans for draft.

Petr Cornelie is really getting slept on because there are so many project international bigs slotted to go around the same range. He is a near 7 foot Stretch 4 who is already a spot up pick n pop threat with burst who can it put it on the deck. Also has the soft hands to catch lobs and tight pocket passes in traffc

It's official now... Jaylen Brown declares for NBA draft.

Great news because he is a Top 10 pick, with him on board more options for us with our two lottery picks.

His shooting stroke is marvelous. Looks like a SAS prospect

Here are the last 50 guys drafted between 26-30 (likely Cleveland pick range) bolded the best

Maxiell, Kleiza, Mahinmi, Simien, Lee
Farmar, Rodriguez, Ager, Collins, Freeland
Brooks, Afflalo, Splitter, Tucker, Koponen
Hill, Arthur, Greene, White, Giddens
Gibson, Carroll, Ellington, Douglas, Elenger
Pondexter, Crawford, Vasquez, Orton, Hayward
Hamilton, Johnson, Cole, Joseph, Butler
Plumlee, Multrie, Jones, Teague, Ezeli
Roberson, Gobert, Charles, Goodwin, Nedovic
Hairston, Bogdanovic, Wilcox, Heustis, Anderson

Trying to find a common theme to those guys who outperformed, seems like 3rd-4th year college players with high character / work ethic, not necessarily considered athletic or high ceiling players.

Probably the opposite to my intuition about trying to hit on late picks (Gobert being the exception).

Last 51 guys drafted 12-14 (likely Washington pick range)

Doleac, Clark, Dickerson
Radojevic, Maggette, Avery
Thomas, Alexander, Cleves
Radmanovic, Jefferson, Murphy
Ely, Hasilip, Jones

Henderson, Hansborough, Clark
Henry, Davis, Patterson
Burks, Morris, Morris
Lamb, Marshall, Henson
Adams, Olynyk, Muhammad
Saric, Lavine, Warren
Lyles, Booker, Payne

I was going to bold the best players, but there's no standouts (0 All-Stars).

Lots of solid role players in the late lotto but definitely harder to find a star, booker excluded of course.

Nice breakdown, although I believe you had some bias choosing the players that fit your narrative.

There is an (outdated) study for the value each pick has:

http://tinyurl.com/zz7xyvz

You can notice the same trend where picks after 10 start having weird success distributions.

I love these studies, which have no real merit. The value of the pick is as much dependent upon who is making the pick as it is on the pick itself.

Mulhollanddrive wrote:Some really interesting international prospects, just from pure quantity I think there's gonna be a hit like a Gobert or Giannis.

C - Zizic, Qi, Zubac, Maker
PF - Bender, Hernangomez, Cornelie
SF - Luwawu
SG - Korkmaz, Cordinier

In the top 40 on DraftExpress.

Internationals and size are a proven outperforming prototype, especially outside of the top picks, and in this weak domestic draft it's a pool I'd like to select from with Washington and Cleveland picks.

there's another name I would like to add to your list to consider as a draft and stash 2nd round euro prospect - 6'10" power forward Rolands Smits. Decent athlete, with good quickness, can play in post and has a stretch four capability. Currently plays for Fuenlabrada in Spain. Is a good character kid, who's a hard worker and has been improving every year.

Do you guys think we are going to stash more players overseas? Any chance Bogdan will actually play this upcoming season?
