I wonder if TJ Warren's injury may make it easier to shift him to 6th man on opening night.

No way this should be a 17 point game.

It's kind of strange, because I pulled up the box score after the first quarter and the starters were all like +18 or something and Bender and others who came in later were +3 or something like that.

Even though they have cut the lead down and we've built it back up, he has somehow taken over everyone in the + column...well as I speak he's now tied with two others.

It's weird though, because even when he looks passive and doesn't seem to do much, he comes out ahead there, but tonight it was really odd how even though most of his time came after we had a 26 pt lead in the first qtr, he passes a bunch of those guys up in positive impact. I know the stat can be misleading based on who you played with, but the fact he was so far behind early and ends up there is good.

I hope he can be as aggressive as he is tonight going forward, but he needs minutes and of course the competition will be much tougher.

Of course when I started typing this he was +24 and the next best were like Booker and Ulis at 20 and 21 but they sat and we brought in scrubs so Bender's has gone down as he is playing with Millsap, Peters, etc.

Nice to see him lead the team in rebounds and shoot as good as anyone from 3. Was pretty aggressive overall which was good to see.

Alright. I know this game doesn't actually matter in the grand scheme of things. I am well aware that we are supposed to handily beat a team like this. I do, however, feel inclined to take this moment to relish in seeing what I hope is a glimpse at the future of this team at its apex.

I see Devin Booker leading us on offense, toying with the other team as he launches devastatingly long range bombs that splash through the net. I see him as an unstoppable offensive force who is able to pace an elite offense.

I see Josh Jackson doing everything possible at a high level; I see his playmaking and court awareness, his defense and hustle, his shifty moves and his motor. I see Josh Jackson as an elite cornerstone of our offense and defense who does what needs to be done to win.

I see Dragan Bender at point forward, distributing all around and hitting threes to spread the floor while his versatility on defense allows us to switch all five positions. I see his propensity to make the right play and I see his ability to do the little things.

I see Marquese Chriss flying all over the place on offense and defense with monster jams and viscous blocks. I see him stretching the floor on offense to make room for our many cutters and drivers.

I see Tyler Ulis finding the angles to give his teammates wide open look after wide open look. I see his grit on defense and his ability to bail the team out with those wild, funky, and beautiful floaters.

I see Alex Len as he uses his power in the paint to be an absolute pain to play against-- I see his screens and his rebounds and his defensive presence.

I still love Bled, and I would love to see him fit with this core; I am still excited for TJ to mesh with this group and continue to be the offensive force he is.

I saw all of these things, at some level, tonight. We are not going to be any good this year. But in a few years, we could look like we did tonight-- and with one more top 5 pick to boot.

I think Bender and Len make a great front court pairing. When they have played together this pre-season they seem to do well together. Both long on the defense and can alter shots. Len can roll to the paint while Bender roams the three point line. I think we will see it is a good combo this season.
